Quote from: Deuce on July 30, 2025, 09:36:46 AMBoro accepts 20 mil for Hayden Hackney. Decent price for a creative midfielder still at a good age. Still prefer KDH, so hopefully we get that sorted, but HH and some other good options are starting coming off the market now

Meant to be a good player but prob is he is a DM rather than a creative CM so not what we need. 9 goals and 7 assists in 100 championship games reflects this.

I'm on the fence regards Palhinha.
Btw, thx for your response above #3613.

And I will never tire of this

What a player Palhinha is. Goes in our best ever first 11 without a doubt.

Nonsense.

What exactly?

Seems KDH and Palhinha links are both concrete. Wonder if it's either/or, or if there's a world in which we try and get both. I think the former seems more likely.

Also hard pressed to think of a DM better in my time following Fulham. This was a pretty mainstream view before he fell out of form at Bayern

whos better?

Diop? Love him, but not better than João for me
Murphy maybe? More of a CM though so no.
Mullery? Different eras but João wins for me

Imperious, goal scoring, dominating, box office player for Fulham.  Guy was bought from us by Bayern Munich,  huge club, for a record fee, for a reason. Calling the assertion "nonsense" is inflammatory trolling either way

Defo an interesting one the concrete JP link after Marco said the 6 not a position we really need. Suppose if you have the chance to sign JP you take it!

Outer biggest need however is an attacking 8. If we got JP then as you say does it mean no new CM and how does that work?

Options I suppose are...

Use Lukic there but consistently not shown enough going forward.

See if Berge can play there and be more productive if given more freedom. Has of course played 8 and 10 before and kind of love the idea of a JP/Berge partnership.

Possibly drop Josh King back to 8? At the moment think Silva sees him as a 10 but perhaps because he doesn't feel he can cope defensively yet? Marco did however play TC with JP as he knew JP does the defensive work of two. King played 8 for the U21's so with JP next to him could it be that we already have the creative 8 we have been looking for?

Or we still go for KDH or someone similar.

If we actually got JP very interesting to see what the plan is with Berge as last season really being seen as a 6 only by Marco. Perhaps we'd even sell Berge?! Hope not as really like him. He is much better than JP under a really good press so perhaps you'd use one for certain games and the other for others but you'd think both would expect to be starting.

Lets focus on our best Premiership team ever and he is, at least, on par with Danny Murphy for a defensive mid position.

               Van der Sar
Finnan Hughes Hangeland Robinson
            Palhinha Dembele
Dempsey                   Boa Morte
              Mitrović  Saha

Sorry for off topic.

I know some disagreed, but I always felt Dembeles best role was as a DM, rather than an 8, he just had the power and energy within his dribbling ability to do the 6 box to box. That said, I don't even hold an opinion on it really.

iansthailand

The thing i worry about with Palhinha is his ill-discipline on the edge of our box. He gives away too many free kicks for my liking. Imagine Palhinha and Lukic yellow card total for the season puts us in line for a hefty fine does it not?

Some interesting discussion coming from Notts Forest about a direct swap of Jota Silva for Adama Traore - interesting , very similar market value so might be a straight swap. Ok, Jota hasn't had the best start in the PL but his game time has been mostly off the bench. Swiss army knife can play both wings , attacking midfield and striker ( last good season in the Primeira Liga 15 goals 7 assists from RW ). His biggest strength is probably his defensive contribution - intercepting and breaking up play , clean tackling . 4 years younger than Adama , more flexible in the positions he can cover , not afraid to roll his sleeves up for defensive work , no injuries in the last two years and he's Portuguese .

If it wasn't for the medication I,d be chewing on your skin

onecupsoon

I prefer Adama; Jota Silva always seems lightweight and is eased off the ball with little effort.  I haven't seen enough pace from him to offset his size.

HV71

3 goals , 1 assist and 5 bookings in 31 appearances doesn't set my heart racing . At least Adama can , on occasion , get you out of your seat . A ' poor man's Jack Grealish ' - not for me

IloveFFC

I think Adama will stay. Silva said we need two wingers. Doesn't make sense we let one important winger leave if we already need Two.

Marco want 4 signings and keep this players.

Maybe a guy like Harrison Reed could leave in the end of the window if we sign a midfielder, because Reed on that scenário will not play and he want minutes.

But Adama is a player with a lot of minutes and for me important coming from the bench.

I don't know how good Jota is but I'm loathe to strengthen Forest. Traore would be an excellent signing for them.

Super Mick

Jota is crap. Hence why they want to get rid of him.

Nonsense. This has come from someone writing an opinion peace with absolutely no basis in reality whatsoever - it's literally a suggestion from someone trying to join dots between a Portuguese player and Portuguese manager that simply does not exist.

I guess this is a symptom of just how quiet our transfer window has been, sod all else to talk about!

Also probably due to the fact we were linked to Jota last year but ended up signing nelson  (after Ernest' deal fell through)

Agree I doubt the validity. Rather Adama personally
