It's not over yet but I am increasingly worried that it is turning into something of a damp squib. I may well be mistaken but , at the end of the season , I got the impression that we were going to be ' ambitious " had identified targets and what we needed  - in order to " push on".
Whilst I take on board fully the wise words of Alfie who rightly points out that we don't know what is going on behind the scenes and that some players just may not want to come - I'm a tad concerned that ,if true , we aren't an attractive ' destination'either that or are poor at selling ourselves.

I also understand that the tactic of waiting until the end of the window can work in our favour -  but surely it can't apply to all of your ' targets".

Certain things that you really want ( in order to push on ) need to be acquired even if you have to pay more than you would want to - this can then be balanced with late cut price bargains.

Players may not want to come if we cannot give them European football - I can understand that - but unless we break out from our current strategy I cannot see how we will ever get back into Europe. There was a fantastic chance last season but it fell away through lack of real squad depth and a little short on consistent quality .

Talk of ambition is fine but action is what really matters. Talk is in fact cheap but action costs money and a certain amount of risk

Which is it to be ? What do we really want as a club and a fanbase ? Are they the same?

Personally - at the  beginning of every season ( having parted with good money) I just want to be able to be excited , to dream and to hope that this will be our time.

I'm waiting

Why would any player commit to a three year deal with a Marco Silva Fulham when for two of those years they haven't got a clue who the manager is going to be,
The current situation with Silva certainly can't be helping can it ?

I do think there is some money to spend, but all the current targets that are rumoured are "damaged goods" in one way or another. Sterling had a terrible season, Nelson has major injury problems, Chukwueze hasn't really performed since moving to Milan, Zinchenko also has major doubts, Chiesa has hardly played since moving to Liverpool.

KDH and Romulo are the only ones that are currently rumoured that don't have fitness issues or have been underperforming and they are the ones that don't have a loan as part of the rumour.

this why loans work better for players and club

One signing and approaching page 200...

Who have we sold that makes this a disaster? I understand frustration and slight annoyance that some positions that need depth haven't had them. I also know that every year it's the same. But I don't understand the wringing of hands and the tolling of bells. Nothing has happened except a few loans out and an experienced keeper coming in.

More dull and boring than a disaster. As for the usual rubbish about upset coaches. We have this every year at every club.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

FFC1987

At the end of the day, if the squad improves on last season as a unit, we'll be absolutely fine and have a good season ahead of us. If it's peaked and needed desperate reinforcement then the club will be massively criticised and you know Silva will openly say as such.

I'm still looking forward to seeing what this current crop has in their locker with no doubt a small amount of incomings on top. Also, here's to another 50 pages before a signing!  ::wine::

Any Fulham fan should know by now to never listen to rumours in the press as 99% are created by the players agents to either get them a move or a better contract at their current club. Fulham signings in recent seasons have mostly flown under the media radar and the first the press know about them is when FFC release a statement, we always do business late in a window and they are the facts.
Frustrating? Yes for some but normal for most

SuffolkWhite

I agree with the recent posts above, at the end of the window we can see if the squad has improved or not.
Guy goes into the doctor's.
"Doc, I've got a cricket ball stuck up my backside
"How's that?"
"Don't you start"

Apart from one or two overly strident voices I think most of us understand all the difficulties faced by a club that isn't in Europe. Most of us also appreciate that in some cases loans make sense and require multiple moving parts to be sorted before they click into place.

But for heaven's sake this window really is dull, frustrating and boring as hell. It can't help the club to market season tickets or memberships to anyone who is dithering a bit. And it can't be helping to persuade Marco to start thinking about a new contract.

Come on Fulham remove your digits and make a statement signing FFS!

It's so clear that the owner and executives' priorities are not success on the field, reaching Europe, winning major trophies, but on maximising profit from the new stand and trying to squeeze every last penny from the matchgoing fan.

On the bright side, all the excitement is still to come. If we are only going to sign three or four players this summer, we can only sign each of them one time. Had we already secured them, we would have a whole month of the transfer window to go with nothing to look forward to.

So you don't think that winning a cup will benefit the club and SK at all? If the wheels hadn't all but fallen off towards the end of the season we could well be playing in Europe, attracting better players and pushing on. Not being able to beat the teams below us cost us and I don't think SK told MS to not bother against these teams as he'd rather make money out of the stand then get the club into Europe.

What do you mean by 'the current situation with silva?'. Barely 2 months ago he was making assurances he would stay, which frankly were in my opinion unnecessary.

Any professional footballer knows that any manager is 10 games away from the sack. Unfortunately, many fans, perhaps including yourself, are unlikely to support a manager at a club like ours if we had no wins after that period. It would be 'time up', right?

It would represent extremely poor judgement to sign a 3-4 year contract at a club on the back of thinking any certainty exists regards the manager. Or do you disagree?

Agreed. Losing Dembele and Dempsey at the same time right at the end of window was a disaster.
