Good luck with that...
No one will arrive until the Brighton game.

Whether one transfer arrives before Brighton, who knows? However I doubt even the greatest optimist would expect 3-4! Given our track record I would expect at least one or two to come on on September 1st.

An 8 and a left winger and I'd be ecstatic before the first game. Unless Muniz/Raul get an injury other winger and third striker no rush at all for me.

We all have our opinions about the squad and transfers. There's no need for personal attacks here because some people disagree.

Personally I am impressed with the quality of our squad - as strong or stronger than I have seen in 60 odd years. In an ideal world I would sell Reed and Traore and strengthen those positions but even if we don't I suspect we will prosper.

Interesting how we all see things slightly differently, in my ideal world sell Reed and AP and strengthen those positions. But nobody is right or wrong it's just opinion.

Silva he has been in the know all the time and think he's ok with it,and trust the club to get what's needed under silvas watchful eyes.

Seems you see things quite similarly. I agree with both of you. Of the first team squad, Reed, AP and Traore are the players I think we could improve on. They all have their merits though.

I would happily see Reed and AP depart.

Reed and AP to my mind are probably the quickest wins in terms of upgrades, because feasibly you could sell both and sign two youngsters for whatever money we get who would be no worse and at least have the benefit of age and improvement on their side

If AP goes I would want us to sign a pressing monster as he can set the tempo. But on the ball he's so wasteful.

Traore did well assists wise but I find him a bit of a square peg in a round hole for us. I would like him to be replaced with someone who is a goal threat if they're also incredibly rapid, as that is what he offers us.

SimonDaviesEnjoyer

Incredibly rapid + goal threat = 50m plus.

But I was told Silva was fully on board with the management's policy to wait until the last minute to get business done, funny that?

Who told you that? All people keep on saying is that Silva is going to walk which is why the owners aren't spending because a new coach will want to play his own style. Love the pre season confusion.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Quote from: Caedal on August 08, 2025, 11:50:41 PMThe club is quite obviously being sold at the end of this season, and Silva will leave

Agree - The sooner it happens the better, these clowns are really hampering the club

If SCR is the issue then it isn't going away by new owners coming in.

Why not? An owner and manager with proper scouting? Brining younger talented players in, selling for decent profit, improving team, moving up the league, knowing when to sell, gaining position and Europe all of which individually or together increase revenue. Brentford, Brighton, Forrest and Bournemouth are examples of teams who have done a mixture of some of the above, they appear to be spending well off this. Isn't SCR an issue because it's an issue of our own making in lack of the above

MS and Board have just played safe to survive and that's it, we build to survive to one season in front of us, nothing more. This is one reason we have the oldest squad in the PL. They lack ambition, forward thinking, desire to take risk, grow etc.

Someone will know doubt say "But we had our highest ever points" it's true, but it gained 11th four places down versus our previous highest points place! UTD, Spurs, West Ham etc finished below but are building a strong return, we are not.

15th/16th is on the cards, let's hope they do not relegate us

So new owners coming in will solve all our problems overnight? It took years for us to be a stable prem club after MAF sold out and as for having the oldest squad and lack of youth players well Marco has been here long enough to oversee this policy so maybe the issue lies at his doorstep.

Our transfer policy and issues have been going on long before Marco arrived. This is at least our 3rd or 4th manager now who's said they're unhappy with our transfer process. If ever there was a sign it's not up to Marco, the continuity of it being a thing is all the evidence you need.

It's TK (who should really be replaced with a seasoned pro), Ali Mac and whatever infrastructure we have in place.

Marco says yes he wants a player or not, perhaps, bit getting the job done is 100% down to others.
Yes!
IMO if we got a proper Dof who knew what he was doing, he would likely replace the current scouting setup.

Quote from: WindyCity on August 09, 2025, 03:36:57 PMWith some of this silly discussion about MS leaving, a few comments about MS.  I do think he is a very good coach, and has shown that he can get the most out of players and compete against top clubs.  THAT SAID, I also think he has room for improvement!  He still needs to learn how to close out games.  FFC dropped a lot of points (maybe most in the league?) from leading positions.  And dropping points late in games was a huge frustration.  MS needs to get his player choices and selections better in this regard, and gather points when they are available to the club.
Making substitutions when they were not needed was a big part if this.

I don't think anyone's under the illusion Silva wouldnt ideally like players early in the window. Like literally all managers.

He's said it many times, this isn't a revelation. But it's also not like this statement is a vicious attack either.

"We hope we can strengthen before the first game" well, no sh**. He also hoped we could strengthen before preseason , just because he would rather or would have expected earlier signing doesn't mean he also doesn't understand the game.

Yep already saw this

Again
Nothing suprising. Silva wants signings and would rather have them early 🤷

Aheww what we lack is quality depth if we see another spate of injuries

Interestingly, if were worried about Robinson, maybe zinchenko makes sense as the DM option given his ability there too

Deeping_white

El Khannouss at Leicester apparently has a £22m release clause - thought he looked bright for Leicester last season and can play as an attacking midfielder or out wide on the left, would be a good signing I think

Rightwhite

You gotta love the transfer window circus. So many conflicting stories from different sources. It really is silly season.
