Quote from: Thailand Mick on August 13, 2025, 08:03:27 AMJust joined instragram and had a scroll through Kevin feed among his many videos of him and his girlfriend I came across this photo from 4 days ago.Wasn't sure how to upload so put it on my Facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A3Brv5uE3/

It may just be that someone random tagged him in a photo and associated news article, and nothing specific from the player himself. In fact it's most likely that's the case.
Thanks, thought it would only be on his feed if he interacted with it.

Not that they be certs for a starting place, but still some okay squad depth options on the free agent market - but imagine they would want high wages.

Calvert-Lewin (CF), Sergio Reguilon (LB), Victor Lindelof (CB), Eric Bailly (CB), Hakim Ziyech (RW/CAM).

I wouldn't say they would start for us, but they would add pretty good depth and the CB options could definitely push for a place.

Quote from: hopper on August 13, 2025, 09:36:03 AMOne thing i'm curious about is, have we actually made Muniz a contract offer. This hasn't been stated anywhere or in any of the transfer reports. If not him wanting the move would make total sense.

Do the club want to keep him or not?

I think the chances of us not having made him a contract offer are next to nothing mate. There's been multiple reports all summer that we have been trying to tie him down to a long term deal and that we have been trying to keep every one of the current squad. Everyone has said that MS sees him as being crucial and you can see that he was always his man and his own signing as he said himself. You'd imagine we can/have offered as much as Atlanta as well. They have however become a big club in Italy and can offer champions league football which we are unlikely to ever be able to offer here.

I would say there have been some rumours that we are talking to him about a contract, but there's been nothing concrete written in fact on this, and had we made an offer that had been turned down that would surely be mentioned in reporting here; so I challenge your assumption in fact - it's certainly not 'next to nothing'.

I think we have been taking advantage of him a little bit and he is probably fed up.

Atalanta have been successful in recent years but think this season could be an inflection point, Gasperini was a big figure and has been there for 8-9 years. It's a good offer, but they're not a huge club that's too good to turn down like Juve, Inter, Milan are still. They're still more of an overachieving stepping stone club. Champions League is a big pull for sure.

But I think there is actually a chance that the club have been dragging their heels on this contract as there's two years and may see as not needing to with any great urgency.

What about Azpilicueta? I know he's a Chelsea legend pretty much, but he'd be ideal in terms of what we need in defence. Can play anywhere in the back 4 and at his age I doubt he'd expect to start that many games.

I would absolutely hate that **** anywhere near our club.

I'm still hoping that Muniz can be persuaded to sign an improved contract and the situation plays out in the same way as it did with Palhinha.

The club should absolutely not let him leave without signing a replacement.

It certainly seems that Newcastle are in an even worse situation than us. Their star striker refusing to play and the only other striker in their squad (Osula) - only 800 minutes of Premier league football and one goal.

I'm not a fan of his either and his affinity for Chelsea is another factor worth considering, but I do feel like someone in his mould would be ideal. We don't really need another specialist centreback or rightback or leftback, but if we could gwt someone that can play all  those positions and be happy to be a backup option, then it would make sense, imo.

Cuenca and Bassey have both spent a lot of time at LB too. Add in Castagne playing there for Belgium, i think it's probably the one position we need no one for.

So it looks like Taremi is getting closer to moving here, assume he would be intended to be a depth signing to replace Vinicius like Jimenez was before we sold Mitro.

Romulo seems to be off to Leipzig at last and there have been precious few other links with strikers who could replace Muniz. I was convinced we'd get a replacement for Mitro after he left but we never did, doubt we'd make the same mistake again after standing firm with Palhinha.

Well,
We shall see. You'd think it'll be a case of us getting in a suitable replacement in before the end of the window and them offering a price were happy with.

If neither happens. Hell be here after August and have to get on with it like Palhinha did

Right back has a lot less cover, think our third best option there is Sess.

I agree, but someone like Azpilicueta would provide cover for cb, lb and rb. That could be good, especially in an AFCON year.

Someone reminded the other day we scored same amount of goals last year as we did in mitros last season. We just spread the between our strikers.

Some argued more goals are scored now but either way it's not like we took massive hit on that front since he left and suddenly saw huge drops in that department.

Seems like Taremi will have been coming in as third choice as you say, decent pickup for depth, wether we go for another big money forward will be down to the Muniz situation from there presumably.

Hoping we can pick up Kevin and Nelson to really improve our attacking threat with direct wingers who can take players on

Thing is Taremi is a pretty high profile striker, would he be willing to be third choice striker? We shall see. Only thing is his profile has taken a bit of a hit in the last season. Would also be equally surprised if he was a Muniz replacement and we just had two strikers aged 33 and 34.

I've been a pretty constant sceptic of the three striker idea. I just don't see how it's sustainable to have three, as will we have two strikers on the bench? I know the argument is that if one is injured it leaves us short, but that goes for every position and is why you need players who are able to step into that role who would otherwise be first team players in another position.

We'll have to wait and see how this all pans out.

Atalanta has champions league football on offer and a bigger platform to try and get in the national team.

I think he'd turn down a conference or mid table team if we were offering similar terms to them but this is a 'step up' so to speak. Think there is a major risk that Atalanta will implode after Gasperini has left and been replaced with Juric who has gone from great at Verona to mediocre at Torino to being terrible at Roma and Southampton though.

Thailand Mick

If we had made a verbal second offer but didn't put it in writing this sounds like they may now be ready to accept that offer. It sort of sounds like their asking us to make it official so they can except. One of their supporters did mention they always quote high prices then normally drop down a bit before making the deal.

Don't loan out Loupala-Bi, a third striker.  Or loan him out on the basis we can recall him at any juncture.
