Quote from: btffc on August 17, 2025, 05:54:37 PMDouglas Luiz was one who profiled similarly but he's off to Forest. We were interested but didn't want to pay his wages.

Must have missed some report that stated this, because this is the first I'm hearing about wages being a factor.

Quote from: Tabby on August 17, 2025, 05:33:39 PMThink there would be a couple of teams in Mexico that would be happy to take him, but doubt we'd get much of a fee.
Fairly sure he wants to run down his lucrative contract before he returns back to Mexico

Quote from: btffc on August 17, 2025, 05:54:37 PMReed should go to the Championship but it appears he is happy with his role and according to a lot of players is like a coach on the field in training. Plus he's homegrown so if he's happy being the 25th man in the squad then I'm not too bothered by it.

That's interesting, hadn't heard anything about Reed acting like that in training.

Out of interest, was that in club content or something?

Either way I think Reed (and more controversially Lukic) are players who should be moved on IF we're seriously ever going to compete for Europe.

Solid and tidy players who are honest professionals and put a good shift in but not top quality 8s.

You say that but the three players they've actually paid a fee for this summer are lower than our typical bracket

Given our summer of endless wage discussions, especially around older signings, feels unfair to leave out the free signing of Callum Wilson.

No club to club fee but I guarantee there's a big ol' signing bonus and pay day for that injury ravaged 33 year old striker.

On top of Fulkrüg last summer.

Not sure West Ham are as progressive as you're implying.

Fair enough, not denying they're the PL old boys (albeit no worse than us) but in this case wasn't they suggestion that they might give us a decent fee for Raul? Apparently not, I'd say.

I think FFC1987 was being a bit tongue in cheek but I may be wrong.

Either way, pre-Wilson i'd genuinely believe Jimenez is exactly who West Ham would want to sign in terms of profile.

But you're right, outside of signing Muniz and a young Mitro a long time ago, we have also been guilty of the older journeyman profile ST (albeit to good effect)

See below. Also seem to recall one of those videos where they ask players as they're coming out for training which player was most likely to be a coach and Reed was mentioned a lot.

You were correct. No one actually talked about decent fees either did they? Just that it's the kind of striker Westham have historically gone for.

I'd love to see Harrison Reed join our coaching staff. Always like to see that kind of thing. He's tireless on the pitch and I think that work rate is a good example to set.

On the transfer front I'd love to see Kevin sorted, then honestly I'm pretty happy with what we've got. Signing Muniz long term would be fantastic, and of course we need a third option in that role. If we can take a punt on a young long shot I'd be game.

Cheers, thanks for finding. Remember Silva saying something to this effect about BDR but the Reed comment passed me by.

Great to hear and I like Harrison, although it doesn't change my mind that it would be better for him and us to go get game time elsewhere.

Think it'll be hard to bring in a young exciting prospect because of our other 2 strikers . Looks like we may have to go for a Taremi type and wait till next year when Raul likely moves on to bring in the next young option (or promote loupalo bi)

Ok guess "Who is buying Raúl?" could have meant who is "taking" Raul on a free.

Nonetheless I won't be mocking West Ham for signing older players until we start spending £20m on 20 year olds too

Just thinking of a good CM we could bring in that would immediately improve us .. would anyone have Bissouma from Tottenham? Looks set to be leaving for 15m and West Ham and Everton battling it out to sign him.
Fernandes would be a great shout if we would fork out the money they want - think for the 30m West Ham bid (rejected) he would be a good pickup but not the 50m quoted

Based on their first game, and fans reactions to transfer window so far, I'm going to wait before giving them too much credit. If you think our fan base is unhappy.....go check there's out!

Believe Taremi would be a sound addition & give us more options. If Muniz decides to stay, then the Palmeiras CF would be surplus to requirements. Evident that we need to bolster midfield, too!
Stay Fulhamish ~ stay unique

He is apparently not the professional one would want in a squad. Hes been in trouble with Big Ange regarding his lack of professionalism and that happened again this summer with Frank, going so far that he left him out of the first team squad due to constantly being late to training.

I dont think going to a smaller club will get him to step up.

I think Jimenez is having a Renaissance and playing at a high level at present Zilch service yesterday he will score given chances.

Or he barely got a rest and will be sluggish

JimmyConway

Reading some posts Muniz coming on and equalising you'd have thought Jiminez had suddenly become surplus to requirements? Has had the shortest of breaks than any other player due to Mexico exploits.
Had no support or service whatsoever yesterday.
He is still our best forward with regards to our style of play.

Agree with what you say in general, but Muniz is our future and should be used as no 1 striker and Raul our sub, imo

But yes, Raul isn't surplus to requirements for certain!

legana

We still need a 3rd option though and I think we'll get one on deadline day but will be interesting to see what happens. Possibly players we do sign at the very end of the window won't even have been linked yet, like Nelson last year.
