I believe Kevin is just the right kind of a x-factor player for us to splash big. Player like Eze and Cunha with a bit of magic, skill, speed and force.

Fingers crossed he signs soon.

If he's this good then why is nobody else after him?

I've never seen him play, don't watch Ukranian league football (is it actually broadcast anywhere other than Ukraine?),so have no idea if he is any good or not or if he has the X factor.

Sky don't seem to have Ukrainian football experts, they guy who is their South American expert says he is ok from what I can tell, but is ok good or excellent who knows. Could be a Steve Marlet but could equally be a Louis Saha

It's not acceptable to refer to the Ukrainian Premier League as "Russian league football", and hasn't been since the breakup of the Soviet Union, circa 34 years ago.

However, to address your point - I also am curious how much anyone has actually seen of Kevin. Shakhtar are known to be excellent at talent spotting in the Brazilian league, and paid 12 million EUR for him in January 2024. Marco must also rate him highly, and have convinced TK to shell out for him. But any time we break our transfer record I get a bit nervous.

yes agree - as with all exciting signings  we only will know if he's good once we see him play 10 games for us.  ESR has been a disappointment so far.

At this point let's be honest. If Arthur Sluttbucket was being linked from Suriname amateur team Nevaheardofthematos we would all be saying that he is the perfect fit in the jigsaw of the clown on the hire wire. Get him in.

It is usual on these pages to go on about a signing and then when it happens. Ridicule it and ask questions and sew the doubt. It is what we do.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Spending that much money on Kevin seems a bit risky with his knee injury. We do have a rather poor record when it comes to signing injured players...  Hopefully this is the one that will actually turn out good. If it's really happening it seems like something that will either be one of the best signings in YEARS, or a total disaster. I have to admit I'm really excited about this.

Fingers crossed!

As a side note, I'm starting to become a slightly worried about how our growing number of Portuguese speaking players might react if/when Marco decides to leave. We could be looking at an exodus of biblical proportions! But hopefully that's still a long way into the future.

Now let's get Muniz' contract sorted!!!

They would have if he was 24.... he's 33... not nearing retirement but no sell-on fee... but wasn't he on £190k per week too... silly money

RB Leipzig were also interested but they already spent too much this summer so 45m was a no go for them probably.

Guessing the OP was refering to the fact that the Donbas region is now controlled and likely to become part of Russia, of course, that said, Shaktar no longer play in Donbas, instead playing in Lviv

A very generous take. At best it looks like a huge amount of ignorance from OP

Spurs waiting in the wings to hijack the deal last moment.

You mean Ukrainian? Definitely not Russian. Important to make that distinction these days.

Valid question and one I'm not sure many have an answer for.

It's a large outlay on potential, so either Marco/our scouts know what they're doing and are jumping at the market because all the bigger teams have a plethora of options and have done all their business early.

It's an expensive deal, that's for sure.

He'll have to really push on for us to get more for him than we outlay on him.

Will have to be a long contract too I imagine.. 5-7yrs and an option (we love an option)..

Possible, I guess I just assumed "Junior White" would be too young to remember 1989 etc.
