Quote from: FFC1987 on August 21, 2025, 10:47:52 AMBlimey, if Carlos Soler ends up being one of our hype signings, I might well lose it. I thought he was exceptionally below average everytime I saw him for Westham.

Edit: Do yourself a favour and don't look at how awful his stats were for Westham last season as well......

Or read their forum. Literally replacing AP with an AP who doesn't work as hard. Supposedly Silva really wants him...what a surprise.  ::cry::

If after all this time this is who we sign in midfield I'm giving up. Nothing concrete/substantial however so hopefully a BS rumour.

Ugh....you know what we need to say, so I'll say it before someone like Alfie does (and he's right).....Trust the process. In Silva and the club we trust.......
I wasn't going to say a thing, I only get accused of being a club man.

As someone who usually always follows that mantra...I am begging to lose trust.  ::cry::

Quote from: Thailand Mick on August 21, 2025, 03:29:19 AMShakhtar play their conference game tonight, the manager very coy about Kevin's participation (suspect he might be on the bench). The return leg is on the 28th August so possible they won't release him until after that game if we agree to sign him. The Ukrainian league now has a break I believe.

Kevin was injured during a game 31st July , still out injured , meniscus injury - so 22 days injured ( so far )

He has been training since Monday and has travelled with the team to Poland were they will play the first leg of their conference league tie.

This feels similar to the Andre saga last summer.. it's exhausting how crap and slow we are with getting deals done. Highest form of incompetence after a while.

Shocking to not have signed a single outfield player, STILL!..

I'm getting bored of our transfer strategy under the Khan's, I'm not going to lie. Very frustrating.
I am one of the staunchest defenders of the management and our dear owners but I'm with you on this one General.
At best it's been poor management of fan's expectations. No action, no information. Very disappointing.

This was a positive on you're positive character and love of the club mate, not a slight. Hope that came across the right way buddy!

There are many types of poster. The odd WUM, the many moaners who want to moan at a new signing but are still moaning about not signing anybody. The gamer who sees everything as a computer game. Then the habitual attacker of the owners.

Then we have the defenders of the faith. I understand the frustration and understand the need for the pieces to fit early in the overall picture. But my only nervousness comes from the fear of losing the players we have and not having time to replace them.

In the end I can't change things, I can't moan about the owners as their record has been pretty good with the obvious mistakes. I moan about the coach but can't over do it as he has been pretty much a saviour. With the odd mistake.

I do moan about the football authorities who make the game a sham. The transfer window just increase the values of players, makes smaller clubs vulnerable and bigger clubs more threatening.

Sometimes I think we moan and complain about the wrong things.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

I thought the same, not on the Tuesday or Wednesday

If and when AP goes, I hope he is remembered as being a key part of the team that helped stabilised us in the PL again. He ran his socks off every game, as was a part of so many great memories.

I understand the gripes with him, but some of the reactions to him (especially online) amongst our fans has been disgraceful.

With King coming into the 10, I think it's probably the right time for him to move on.

I think this is fair. He has not shown any lack of effort, if he leaves it is with our thanks and best wishes.

I can forgive him his poor season at West Ham (It's West Ham after all) so long as he brings his quality pedigree from PSG and Valencia! If played correctly will chip in with plenty of goals and assists. More goal involvements than Pereira per minute.

He has a nice weight of pass on him. One of my gripes with Andreas was how often he would be in a really good position and overhit or underhit the key final pass.

We know it takes foreign players time to get up to speed with the PL. Most players would have struggled in that West Ham team. He did score against us in January (I was there at the soulless London Stadium). Perhaps Silva thinks we can benefit from his year of getting used to it, the player must think he has unfinished business in England, and he does have very nice hair.

you don't play for Spain 12 times and be bad player...

He's by the far the most likely candidate to leave. Sellable asset, approaching his 30s, wants to be in contention for Brazil squad, has seen himself fall out the starting 11 behind even young King now having been fairly poor here for at least 1.5 seasons. It's time to move him on if we can and replace. If Marco thinks he can get a song out of Soler, then I'll get behind it even if I'm cautious on paper. Probably makes sense in that position to go for someone established, as we have Ridgeon coming through in the 8 who does look very promising ala King. So if we can add a CM of decent quality to compete with Lukic and Berge for another 2 seasons while we steadily blood him in then that's probably a sensible approach that doesn't block him.

Wide positions are where I hope we bring in Kevin and Nelson for a bit of younger blood. Striker I'm open to a Taremi/Mitro option or a younger option tbh. I like youth as much as the next man but depends whats out there really and most important assuming we're keeping Muniz imo, is just  - be an upgrade on Vini.

linked to Brighton and Flamengo last year allegedly

@jolslover

Solers a good footballer, that West Ham season can be written off as Paqueta and Kudus both looked poor and they are both top level players. FWIW I saw him play against Newcastle when West Ham won at their place and he was one of the best players on the pitch that day

As said earlier on the thread he played 50 games in two years for PSG alongside Mbappe and Neymar and was a regular for Spanish national team at a point. I think he would be a good pickup especially on loan with an option to buy

Pereria assist when he scored against us, with a very tidy finish was impressive to be fair. But I don't feel like he did much else that day. I agree perhaps his skint at Westham maybe shouldn't be too overplayed. We know they struggled and had off the field issues with players as well.

Here we go.. the starting gun has been fired and the rush to get players in begins.

Hopefully no bargain basement dross.
