Quote from: demeant0r on August 25, 2025, 11:23:02 PMWith the sale of Andrea, I'm fully expecting us to complete the purchase of Kevin.

Allegedly we made our final bid and shaktar haven't accepted it so that's that. Some rumour that if they find another wing replacement on top what they have already he may be allowed to move on. Player wants move, his team think it's a fair bid and are angry with his club (apparently)...ultimately we appear to have offered our top bid. And it is already pretty huge for us, a significant club record offer. 🤷

I'm not sure we can or should be raising it even higher, and I really like kevin. I suspect we'll wait it out till the deadline at this point whilst lining up 2 of nelson/sterling/chuk or another in case they stick to their guns and say no still.

Where's the source on it being our last bid. Please don't say that FFN bloke.

Hence "allegedly",. He claims a Ukrainian journalist. TBF. It checks out from all reports that we made an improved offer and nothings happened since, other than reports the deals currently not progressing.

🤷

Dibling deal confirmed now for Everton. Can't. say I've seen a lot of him but they're improving their creativity quite a lot compared to last season. Thought Grealish looked good on Saturday as well.

Think the Kenny deal is a case of us waiting for the club to lower demands, kind of like what Atalanta tried to do Muniz.

AP replacement? They accepted a bid from Ipswich for somewhere around £20 million but he wanted a premier league move according to reports.

Massive over pay imo

Our winger targets feel firmly established, but new midfielder links seem really thin on the ground right now.

Loose links by rumour to Soler, and there's a Graeme Bailey (unreliable) links to Mainoo and Hackney. Curious to see what happens there, securing someone in that position feels pretty important to me, god forbid we suffer a long term injury to either Lukic or Berge.

Those Soler links came up fast and quiet, very quickly. I wonder if that's the guy that's all but over the line.

Quote from: Surlyc on August 25, 2025, 10:40:18 PMWhilst I completely agree and hope we have got much more than that for him, this is the end result of continuously targeting 27 year olds. Big clubs play a big premium for further potential and we just don't see any of that premium on our sales.

I get that and agree - potential comes at a premium these days and we definitely should target more younger players with more sell on value.

Regardless, he's 29 not 33, has 2 years of contract and a current Brazil international - we should be getting more than £10m.

Totally agree ...

He's also an attacking midfielder that doesn't score, doesn't assist, can't take a free kick or deliver a decent corner. I'd say it says more about the lack of quality in the Brazil team if he's getting in the side.

Ok so he presses the ball.

Forest gump ran around a lot and would cost a box of chocolates so getting 10m for Andreas sounds a good deal.

The links to Philip Otele are bonkers, he 's a new signing for Basel joining them on the 1st July less than two months ago on a 3 year contract ( and he's a left side midfielder )

Can you imagine the reaction if nobody comes in before the deadline?

Surely the club would have scouted already and known if they want to bid or not; basing it on current match seems a bit ridiculous. Wonder if this is agent talk. Not sure we end up with Otele.

Imagine the meltdown if it happens again (it won't surely)

Quote from: Count Flapula on August 26, 2025, 08:41:24 AMI totally disagree. It's not just about what another clubs values him at - what we value him at as a threshold to sell is equally important. If we value him at more than £10m (which we should given the reasons I outline / how much it will cost to replace him / he still has 2 years in his contract so we aren't in THAT weak a bargaining position), then if no one meets our valuation then we negotiate higher or don't sell.

Why should we expect to bend over on both purchase AND sales transfers?

Given we've spent nothing so far, we absolutely can afford to not sell if no one pays true value and we dont have anyone else lined up, which it seems we don't if Silva's words on Friday are to be believed. If he leaves and we fail to replace it objectively weakens our squad.

I don't mind him leaving (and actually think we definitely should sell) IF we get a fair fee and bring in a replacement - if these conditions aren't met then we shouldn't.

In your previous post, you wrote: 'We should be getting more than £10M'. It was this assertion of yours that prompted my to respond with: 'We can't get more than another club is willing to pay' - something with which you, here, 'totally disagree', but do not care to explain why I'm wrong. To simply say 'negotiate' is too vague when the offer the Club seem ready to accept is likely to be the result of negotiation and a belief that Palmeiras will now walk away from a deal if we continue to insist on more.

And, indeed, reading your reply above, the answer you then give is that, if our valuation is not met, we shouldn't sell. Fair enough. A perfectly reasonable opinion. But not selling, of course, is not the same as getting 'more than £10M'. Nor does not selling if our valuation isn't met invalidate my earlier response that 'We can't get more than another club is willing to pay'.

Edit: It could be you are merely in total disagreement with our selling Pereira for £10M. If so, my mistake. Please ignore the above.

OZ-WHITE

If Pereira is out the door , I hope we bring in Fer Lopez on Loan from Wolves - normal position attacking midfield but can play both wings - 6 ft 2 left footer . he's only just joined Wolves but will get more game time with us

Does anyone know our financial situation, are we at risk?

PSR is fine, it's the fact our wages to revenue ratio is so high that would be the issue moving forward with the proposed new way of leashing mid-table clubs to a lifetime of financial limitations
