The sky guy (Kaveh solikiel?) said the deal sheet has to be completed by 9 so think confusion comes from that

Quote from: Moussa Dembele the 3rd on September 01, 2025, 06:58:40 PMDon't you agree though that if we play 5 at the back Iwobi can function as an 8 with only one of Berge or Lukic holding?  I think that will be the back up plan. Also I think Reed has been slightly underrated as a back up. He has played with Lukic in the middle and we have been fine.
Maybe, but then we still have a problem of having too many wingers, as we have played with no wingers this season when we played in a back 5.
Quote from: ffc_forever on September 01, 2025, 06:59:41 PMHe's said it numerous times his favoured position is central. Also plays there for his national side. He will be fine wether it makes sense to you or not
And Nigerian fans have largely been crtical of his performances when he played in the middle. Was not impressed with his performances there in a few times he played there for us. 8 in our system has quite a lot of defensive responsibilities, which is why Reed and Lukic worked better than AP in the 8 in our system.
It will be really interesting to see what the 'system' looks like now we seem to have more attacking weapons.

I am almost certain we played 5 atb with the WBs Saturday (and against Man U), not because Silva wanted to sure things up defensively, but because he didn't trust any of the wing options bar Iwobi.

Similarly I really don't think it is an intentional 'system' reason that for 3 years in the PL everything has come down the left hand side, but the quality of the players in the team (particularly when Tete has been injured). Theoretically we will have a much more balanced attack now - Robinson, King and Iwobi/Kevin on one side playing triangles, with Tete, Lukic and Chukwueze/Iwobi on the other.

Looks a great player who could benefit us this year off the bench. Then next year we can go into the market properly once Raul leaves.
I do wonder why we spent 4 million on a loan fee for him to be 3rd choice striker. He is obviously very highly rated too, so idk. The signing is a bit weird, imo.

Agreed

Not sure why it's attractive to him either. Probably not much more chance of starting for us than he has at Munich.

Nice to see us looking at a youngster but would make much more sense all round if it included an option

Guessing it's because other permanent options we wanted didn't work out in this set-up. (Pepi - Romulo)
So Loan move for a talented kid it was.

This kid is hotly tipped to be a top talent so he might yet push Raul out the rotation in the last year of his contract. If he comes off the bench and starts banging them in then it'll be 4m well spent. Likewise if ala Broja it spurs on Muniz to perform then so be it also!

We definitely do but you would think the way this window has gone the club would announce ASAP to appease the fans.

We don't need appeasing, we are the richest and most educated fans around  ::wink::

The other thing with the young striker is that if he is actually good, you could conceivably then offload Raul in January if there is interest - again getting some value back before the contract runs out.

The problem is, neither one of Lukic/Berge is a natural DM. Both are actually more of an 8.I think we'll get dominated in the middle with Berge/Lukic-Iwobi-King/ESR in the middle. But hopefully I'm wrong.

bencher

We've had a mixed bag with loan signings, more duds than winners probably. Who is the best? Has to be Mitro, even without what he did after signing permanently, but Boa Morte's loan season has to be well up there too.

Harry Wilson is off to Leeds

For how many clubs in that list does the remaining business represent 75% of their total window business? Im guessing only us.

Absurd that deals we've been negotiating for a month or longer are going into the deal sheets window with all the risk that entails.
