Quote from: ffcthereligion on September 01, 2025, 10:14:14 PMForest's spending and apparent ambition compared to ourselves is sickening

Just the four players in from Botafogo then. Nothing to be seen here.

I mean, of all the things that won't ever happen under TK/AM but nonetheless i might dream about fondly, establishing a relationship with a top Brazilian club and pipelining their players to Fulham, is pretty high up there.

AP becomes King.
Nelson/Willian becomes Chuk
Vini becomes Kevin
Benda becomes Lecomte
Godo becomes ...

Can't help but feel the club came up short and Marco is not going to be pleased a loan wasn't sorted as he is now a player short from last season. Makes me think Sterling may become an option if Chelsea buy him out, correct? When would he have to be registered by?

No it's:

AP -> King
Wilson/Adama -> Chuk
There was no competition for Iwobi, but now there is with Kevin
Benda -> Lecomte
Godo wasn't in the squad anyway so we dind't really lose out

Being glass half full all of those players are upgrades. I think our starting XI is now better but our depth is worse.

If you're Harrison Reed and TC you probably think this is the best window for the club  :slap:

Definitely agree on the talent upgrade overall, but still feels a senior player (or two) short for what Marco wanted.

Agreed.
Can't believe I'm the most positive about George. Think he's a real talent, and the youngest first team player we've signed since 2015!!
Where's the real Angus, what have you done with him?!

Think i should just stick to the miserable stuff going forward.

One last thing about the lack of a 3rd CF - not that it means anything, but a lot of clubs similar to ours don't have a proper 3rd CF and either use a youngster or someone else could over in case of an emergency (probably a winger). I haven't included the "big 7" and the three promoted sides.

Forest - Kalimuendo
Brighton - Tzimas
Aston Villa - none
Crystal Palace - none
Brentford - none
Bournemouth - Kroupi
West Ham - Marshall
Everton - none
Wolves - Hwang/Kaladjic

Super Mick

AFCON and injuries. January could be hell!!

From FFN if of interest to anyone:

"He said 4 originally, then said 3 the other day.
Marco was key in Landing both Kev and Chuku. They are top targets for him and the club has been in negotiations for them for a couple of months but agents are snakes and they drive a hard bargain. Deals of this magnitude for a club like Fulham were always going to be late.

I've been told from the top that Sporting pushed hard for Kevin! Which slowed it down.
Milan pushed the price up for Chukwueze once he landed in London
Leeds made a decent offer for Wilson early in the day so we got George lined up after offering 60k towards Sterling wages and getting shot down.
Discussions continued with Wilson through the day and the decision was made late on to keep Harry. I expect he now signs a new deal. ( Bit harsh on George though)
There was never anything really concrete on an 8. King is basically going to take APs mins & as Marco said before he wants King and ESR in the same 11.
The Bayern lad was something mooted early in the day but it went cold before Bayern came back to the table late. Paperwork couldn't get done on time.

That's the summary I have of the day I've been given."

Quote from: Lighthouse on September 01, 2025, 10:08:16 PMTwo quality players coming in. Lacking in depth just in numbers. But an improved first team squad. Lost nobody. Not sure why some people are acting out but then let's face it. They always do. Will Silva be angry and throw another tantrum? Well he will be gone by the end of the season anyway if he doesn't sign a contract. So don't really care.

Lost nobody? Where'd that come from? We sold Pereira and didn't replace him. We also lost Vinicius, Willian and Nelson.. and Godo.. and replaced them with Kevin and Chuk.

That means we had 5 outgoings and replaced them with 2.

Oh dear. Vini, Willian,Nelson and Godo were squad fillers. So as I stated before short on numbers. But we have two first team players and sold NO first team players. So old Willian, Never played Nelson as he was always injured, Vini rarely in squad and Godo who may well have improved given time. We have King now who has stepped up. So sadly I repeat. Improved team. Playing numbers games and ignoring King means we really have three first 11 players that we didn't have and lost 5 fillers. Iwobi prefers 8 or 10 as opposed to being on the wing.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Gotta say

Disappointments aside

Kevin, King, ESR and chuk behind muniz?

I am f***ing excited to see that TBF. Potentially most direct attacking lineup we've seen in years

Agree with this. Good shape. Although another CM would have been ideal imo.

Not just that, but City, Bayern and clubs like this normally have just one or two. But they're normally stacked with flexible attacking players and false 9s. I think a third 9 would have been a stretch for us really but seems Marco really wanted one. We may need a winger to play through the middle.

Also Olyott who we got from man city and and Zepa from arsenal

All good prospects

Going to disagree with you there Jay. Whoever steps up from the youth squad next takes King's old role.

Godo was occupying another senior spot in my opinion. Somebody may step fwd from the youth set up, but I believe Marco would have preferred someone more ready for regular senior football in that spot.

Agree with this, the only contingency is that we will lose 3 players for AFCON probably in Chukwueze, Iwobi and Bassey we could be a little short during that.

Do think the lack of another midfielder is a bit of an oversight though.

Offering Wilson a new contract would be absolutely brilliant. Love that guy.

But offering 60k towards Sterling's salary is a bit of an insult.

So is the plan to play ESR at 10 and King at 8?

Question is how to fit them all in tbh. Having our two new wingers means ESR can't as easily be accommodated on the left with King through the middle.

Unless the club put King deeper? But he feels too small for that box to box role

Godo was our 5th choice academy winger who was supposed to go on loan
...he was behind
Iwobi/Wilson/Adama/Sess and even ESR being preferred out there to him. Now woulda been 7th behind chuk and Kevin who are ready made attackers ready to go

The 3 players I mentioned are the next academy prospects in the pipeline on the wings, they don't need to be ready we got plenty wingers . Ridgeon is the next josh king comparison given hes 17, England youth level and plays CM/CAM

I think king could absolutely play 8. I've been really surprised by how strong he is on the ball considering how slight he looks. He's deceivingly well balanced and hard to knock off the ball for such a slight kid.
