Quote from: hopper on September 02, 2025, 11:59:34 AMWatching a compilation of Kevin's Champions League highlights and he looks absolutely exceptional. Could be one of our most exciting signings.

That said I thought the same when we signed Bryan Ruiz!

Can you link/DM me the video?

Yeah it's here, someone posted this on discord. The video needs to be downloaded but it's 13 months and much better than your typical Youtube fare with annoying edits.

"Found this comment on reddit about Kevin:

"Was my 2nd choice signing for United in the wide position after Cunha and honestly I would have bought them both and just moved Cunha to 9# because I rate Kevin that highly.

Think Fulham have a gem and he'll be off for 2x this in a couple of seasons.

I work in football analytics and he's a player I've tracked extensively for the last 18 months, here's a video I made of his CL highlights for anyone interested: https://drive.google.com/file/d/168w7cLQEkbYgXHGwbFKW8Y13x1FtN5ES/view?usp=sharing

I also have a compilation of his domestic highlights but bear in mind due to the ongoing war the league isn't the same, nevertheless he's been superb. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TJZ-LMvYSx1PT7ZZOGgeBmPo4yO9Kpi4/view?usp=sharing

He's an ELITE level dribbler, Vinicus Jnr level in 1v1 and all round an excellent creator.

The highlights are meant to show as many different aspects of his game as possible, the only weakness I see is his finishing which isn't particularly bad it just isn't at the same level as the rest of his forward play."'

Seen video impressive, can't believe we were the only serious interest.

From his Youtube highlights my main question is can he cross effectively with his left foot, because he is great at getting to the byline crossing position but will he always have to cut back or is he confident to send it in with his left peg?

Some of his crosses were from his left leg. The real question is whether or not he can make good choices. Sometimes the best choice is to make a simple pass rather than take on a man and lose the ball.

::scarf:: Am I the only person hoping that Kevin can be our new Louis Saha??

Can't wait to see Robinson and Kevin line up on the left, it's going to be something special

Rambler

Chukwueze is completely one footed. I think Kevin is fine with both feet but I'd highly doubt chuk can put a cross in with his right foot

v

Thanks to Hopper for the video highlights 👍🏻

The word FLAIR comes to mind.

Reminds me of a young Ronaldo or a Brazilian Giggs in full pomp.

I hope his countryman Rodrigo, Raul and the new Swedish signing are able to keep up to speed with him up front (both physically and mentally !)

If ESR, Iwobi, Robinson, Wilson and King get onto his same wavelength, there'll be goals.
Lots of goals  ::wink::  ::scarf::

100%. The Andersen switch to Kevin im space is going to be epic as well. If he gets one on one with a full back he's attacking him and he's quality at it. If he has a free run in space he's rapid so folk ain't catching him. He's like Willian touch wise but got pace and step over skill on top. Prob doesn't have the same quality of delivery yet but that can come.  The thing I love is he can go either way as well cutting inside or getting byline. Solomon was a good player but so predictable cutting into traffic. The link up with King could be epic as well and ESR looked way better when he had Nelson outside him who could take folk on as created space for him.

We'll be such a threat left with Robinson on top teams will try and pack it but that creates space right and we actually have a proper threat there now as well with Chuku.

All means we might actually get some decent service to Muniz/Raul. Both are clinical but not strikers who create stuff themselves in the main and we just don't create enough chances for them. These two wingers really were the perfect signings stats wise and if they play to their potential we can cook.

To be fair even with Berge and Lukic's lack of productivity going forward their passing is superb so if they play they just give the ball to King and these wingers hopefully they can do the rest.
So excited.

Seems we had money for a CM but we were too late. Scattergun.

How is it scattergun? 🤣 That phrase suggests we threw money around at anyone and everyone.

Shame to not secure a CM but hey, tons of clubs also missed out on people on deadline day after making late bids, it's not exclusive to us. Also do we know validity of sauce? Verified by rutzler or ornstein?

He literally just signed there this summer so highly doubt it. Another forest to botofogo tranafer mind you. Suspect af haha

Because we waited til the very last day to do more deals than we were able to manage in a go; given both Feyenoord and Botafogo rejected deals they may have accepted earlier in the window; and just eeking a striker across the line. It's my definition of scattergun.

Appreciate you like to be optimistic, but I think excessively so.

I just

1. don't make disparaging assertions about club till things are confirmed from reputable sources. If rutzler or ornstein confirm this fair enough. It might well be true but seems an odd set up. Classic texor weirdness

2. Dont think it's "scattergun", wrong phrase. Leaving it late for sure, although already said why I think regarding the specific players we brought in that wasnt all on us. And made my thoughts known on that I Was quite happy to say I felt it wasn't a great window when it was widely reported we missed out on striker. 🤷 Turned out we didnt and got an option so just said fair play , credit to them , whatever we think of the timing, it largely worked out imo, in that I'm happy with the quality we brought in , keeping squad together and resigning youth.

Might well have done better with CM cover , have already said I think it's a shame we didn't sort that...well see if that haunts us later but may well be between king and Iwobi (and who knows even Ridgeon) it's not an issue , in which cases my concerns there could be misplaced

According to Collins "A scattergun approach or method involves doing something to a lot of things or people in disorganized way, rather than focusing on particular things or people."

If you're going to be pedantic, I actually think that's exactly what we are 🤷.

As for Hwang, that was covered by Voetball international which is a reliable Dutch outlet, and Globo has always been accurate in coverage I've seen with relation to us before too.

Criticism is acceptable, as is praise, and I'll give credit where it's due as well rather than being constant doom and gloom looking for problems.

Considering the manager wanted a midfielder and we waited til the last minute to make two offers which failed because clubs couldn't replace him despite having all window to make those offers; I think that merits criticism really.

Bassey the warrior

Didn't Danilo only join Botafogo from Forest recently?

Depends if you think disorganisation is the key issue, I've no idea the inner conversations or reasons for any of it tbh so would only be making assumptions.
We were talking with our key targets we signed for a fair part of the summer, no idea how long other convos were going on in background

Lacking urgency? Fair, not sure the issue was being disorganised is all, the main guys we wanted out wide we got once released. Also had a backup in place for wilson situation.

Many teams were "scrambling" about with signings too across the league, many fans feel they're missing pieces as a result. We kept squad together and added quality.

Agree Lacking CM cover though as Ive said, think that could be an issue. Hope it isnt

Ya welcome to see it as ya wish.

" Ya welcome to see it as ya wish."

So magnanimous of you

Lighthouse

Not sure we will ever know the complications and the legal ramifications of why so many clubs leave it for the last day. But as many of them do. Many of them lose out. I presume there is a good reason. We will have the usual arguments made by fans who have no idea how things work but get easily frustrated.

In the end fans have a simplistic idea of a game that over the years has been made complicated and corrupt and incompetent by officials who are making sure the money goes in one direction. Their pockets and the powerful big clubs.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope
