The transfer system is definitely improving slowly but when we buy cheaply like benda for 500,000 seems a waisted amount when watching him play he did not have a big future in front of him and looking at ex youth returning two are 22 not wanted for bottom div and 20year old jersey boy scored some goals and tackled well but passing was not anywhere near premiership standard has another year left but we are getting better, still need someone on the ground with hands on approach.

Connor Gallagher not any better than we got already

Not only do I not think Gallagher is worth that sort of money, I think Spurs is a poor move for him. He's not a good possession player and Franks Spurs have move to that style of play....

About as positive as I've heard you in about 10 years Mick 😅

Hey, We took a punt on a low cost young GK as backup

It didn't work out for him on this one,.fortinately he was only ever a backup and we already got an inexplicably cheap deal for leno.

GK is somewhere well eventually have to look at but with how long most GKs go on for probably not something to worry about for the next couple years. If we make Europe perhaps we'll consider assessing this but think leno in form is plenty good enough

Spurs are bad on the ball as it is so I really don't get how Gallagher improves them, a midfield duo of him & Palhinha would be all tackles and no passing

Yep. A move that makes little sense to me. Shame as I do think we could make good use of him circumstantial, but we've also gone more possession based so I'm doubtful he'd have lasting impacts over the entire season.

Shame really. We'll see I guess.

Only reason I can think that Spurs are going for Gallagher is that they will not take up the option to buy Palhinha at the end of the season

Could be worth the club checking on this for the summer. I'd have him back in a shot!

As much as I love Palhinha, we should not with the main reason why being SCR. He no longer has any sell-on value. We really need to be concentrating on players that are 18 to 24 or 25 that will allow us to resell a few years later for a profit.

Really different players though. Palinha a 6, Gallagher an 8 and both shown not great on the ball but offer off the ball press and winning the ball back, but average to poor numbers in passing ranges so if that is the approach, I'm just entirely confused.

Quote from: Somerset Fulham on January 12, 2026, 09:24:47 PMI think you are right, ArcticOctopus. There probably isn't any better out ther but also; it would be a hell of a capture if we were in the race but at that price there is no way that we ever were.

As a footnote - unless Spurs are going big with players that Frank wants (rather than sacking him), its a huge, huge window for them and for him.

It is claimed they are after him as Bentancur (sp) is now out for 3 months with a long term injury

OK I'm listening, odd one though.

Probably a loan which would allow us to let Adama depart, but he's mostly deployed as more of an AM for Arsenal this year, who can play across the attacking line. Started out more of a winger if I recall though.

Has played CM but not much. I suppose his versatility is attractive and he definitely has plenty of potential.

Quote from: Matt10 on January 12, 2026, 02:43:50 PMAs someone who watches every Norwich City match, I'd really like Sargent to come to Fulham. I think it's the perfect time as he's been carrying them for the last couple of seasons in the championship. Mahovo, the converted striker from winger, is looking to take over. Clement, the Norwich manager, even tried to play them both in a 4-4-2 a couple matches ago and it just did not work at all unfortunately.

Sargent would be a great compliment to Raul, who could show him some things. He's got the work rate that we want from the striker position, and can find the back of the net. He's got something to push towards for the USMNT look as he's on the outside looking in at the moment. Pepi's injury is a big opportunity for Sargent to make up some ground.

The hesitation is his injury history for me. While he's back now, he was out for a couple matches due to concussion, but last year he was out for a good amount of time. However, he was incredible last season despite the long injury and finished with 15 goals with 5 assists.
The Norwich striker that has really impressed me this season us the young Jovo Makama signed from Lincoln.
He is big and strong yet seems pretty mobile with reasonable ability.
He has quickly found his feet in The Championship and I feel he has enormous potential.
It won't be long before Premier Clubs are converting him.
If we had any sense we would stop chasing expensive and unavailable strikers and go in for him before someone else does.

No way we'd get him permanently but I think I'd rather a 6 month loan of him than Sterling who won't be fit until properly match fit until March

Wasn't the assumption when he signed a new contract, was that he'd be seen as competition for the 8 role rather than wing but obviously capable of playing both? Swear when we were linked last time, he was on the verge of signign a new deal (which did get signed) and the reporting was about him playing more centrally, especially when the likes of Eze and other wings were brought in.

I'd be interested if that's the case.

He's been playing more in the 10 for Arsenal this year.

Definately can play out wide or up top, BDR like versatility/ maybe they just haven't worked out his best position yet. Has played up front too. Useful peice in many ways

He can play as a #10 or as a winger, much like Wilson. I don't think he'd quite suit being a #8 given he's more attacking, but I think in his youth career he was mostly a CAM and RW which is where I'd play him as he's quite pacy and direct. Maybe a good signing because of the ability to play central or out wide, a bit like a mirror of ESR who can play central or on the left?

Thing is, surely no way we'd get an option for him, and the door still seems open to him at Arsenal, seems to me like it'd just be a straight loan.

He would be in the company of ESR, Iwobi which might help with the transition, but straight loans can be tricky ones.

In many ways I can see why it would make sense. We get a quality young option with pace for 6 months, he gets a chance to try and put himself in with an outside chance of an England call if he does well. We can let Adama move on and drop his wages now (maybe upping our offer for Wilson) and then in the summer we can look for a permanent option potentially at less extortionate prices. I get why some are sceptical of loans without options though.

this kid could fill AM,wing and up top on a 6 month loan.and if Marco leaves ,it leaves a war chest for a new  head coach.
