Juve have a obligation to buy him but I dont think they want him so we could do a deal in the summer they also have a massive interest in Mateta . 🤞

That's a great shout actually

Quote from: demeant0r on January 20, 2026, 04:37:48 PMJust out of curiosity, are wingers Marco's most purchased positions? Seems like we purchse 2-3 wingers every season.

Good question, up until recently we hadn't spent much money on wingers though.

22/23: Solomon loan, Willian on a free
23/24: Adama on a free, Iwobi signed
24/25: Nelson on loan, Willian returned in Jan to cover for him. Sess in on a free but seemingly as a LB primarily.

This season we did need a refresh there as we were looking tired and short on ideas in that position. This looks like a big overhaul with Kevin, Chukwueze and potentially Bobb.

Yeah, it does need a refresh. But it points to the fact that since wingers are a huge component to Marco's attacking play that since we constantly get new wingers, we essentially have to wait 2-3 months or longer every season for them to click with the rest of the squad. (Like Kevin hasn't clicked with Jedi yet.)

Hackney please ..... scores goals picks a pass - captain material - young . Not injured.

We're signing the wrong Norwegian! Can we sign one (or more) of the Bodo/Glimt players??

Quote from: Matt10 on January 20, 2026, 02:19:09 PMThat's a bit easier number for me considering I haven't seen anything outstanding from the matches I reviewed. I am not 100% if he will work for Marco's system of high defensive work rate, so it's possible he'd be a 10 for us in setting the early press, then being further up near the striker. He may benefit with space and pace of the PL though, not to mention anyone under Marco is in a good position to develop.
I think Marco would be able to convert him to a proper 8. Lukic was predominantly an 8 or even a 10 at Torino, but he was Palhinha's understudy and after Palhinha left and before Berge arrived(and in the first few matches after he arrived) he was undisputed first choice DM. Even Berge, who did play as a 6 in the past, mostly played as an 8 in his career and he exclusively plays as a 6 for us now. Reed was always a 6 before Marco arrived but when Palhinha arrived he was moved to the 8 role. My point is, I think Marco can do his magic and make him a perfect option for the 8 role. I think he has a lot of attributes that are required for that role in our system.

I'd be wary of signing their players. They play a very specific, unique style of football, and most of their players didn't replicate their form after leaving the club. They are perfectly suited for that style of play and they are quite successful because of that. There's a reason why pretty much none of them play for their national team.

Let's sell Harry for 35m to Spuds and we get Bobb for 35m

I'm skeptical from what I've watched, but if the rumor gets strengthened I'll try to watch some more matches. I just noted that he does not seem to have his head on a swivel, doesn't make that good of passes and jogs everywhere. In those two matches I can count on one hand seeing him sprint or aggressively try to tackle anyone. It may be down to instructions so he can release to counter, but I think Atta would have a lot of learning to do if/when he gets here.

Personally, I think there a lot of good 8's already established in the Championship, Bundesliga and Serie A/B that we should go after and could snatch away with those figures.

No sell him abroad. Definitely don't want him curling in a couple against us next season for that lot. Or any PL team for that matter.

But then we hit that brick wall again. Will anybody sign up to improve the current system if the architect of that system hasn't?

I think one of the main reasons Atta is the top targets is he has a very high ceiling. He's fairly raw now but under the right tutelage has the ability to be much better than those already established 8's. His dribbling is something you can't really teach plus he is tall and quick. He can be taught most of the other stuff and Marco is a perfectionist who has done well getting the most out of players.

Personally I would prefer Hackney as I think his style of deep lying playmaking is a better fit to slot into our current squad, but I totally understand why we want Atta.

Quote from: Mullers OG on January 20, 2026, 12:05:42 PMYou may all be right and Wilson's contract decision depends on the salary terms but that's not necessarily correct. There may be family pressures to move; he may fancy playing in Italy or Spain whilst he still can; as a leading Welsh international he might want the chance to play in the champions league. Personally I hope he stays but it's his decision. He signed a contract which at the end of the season he's fulfilled.
I read somewhere that he's considering going further North or perhaps with his 29th coming 22nd March his wife has bought him a flat cap, some Pigeons and waiting for the Whippet from the Rescue Centre.

If the rumours are true that we've been putting in bids for Atta, Bobb, Pepi, etc., you would think Silva had given some sort of indication he's willing to renew his contract. If not they'd surely be keeping their powder dry to spend it over the summer when a new manager arrives.

Maybe he said he's willing to stay so long as they can bring in some new players.

Hmm
Cross Parrott with one of those Pigeons above and we would end up with Voice Mail

Evan Ferguson progress seems to have plateaued out everyone was chasing him a few years ago I wonder if Fulham and Marco could reignite he's career?

Behind the idea only if he's cheap. Definitely seems to have stagnated over the last couple of years, anyone know why?
