Quote from: jayffc on January 26, 2026, 06:57:44 PMAbsolutely why not get him in asap if we can, we've been tracking him for years.

For starters, why would we have one of Muniz/Raul/Pepi completely out of squad in every match? I'm all for moving on for Raul in the summer, but right now I don't get it.

Muniz and Pepi aren't quite ready to play yet, while Raul is performing his final swan song at Fulham. We have desperately needed a forward for the last two years; if you don't like Pepi, I can understand that. However, if you believe we don't need a forward, I just can't comprehend that.

Especially if the club thinks JKA isn't going to come good. I know Marco said he was going to get more minutes. It remains to be seen if the 60 he had during the cup game was what Marco meant.

It's the only way we will get players in for pre-season.

Will also make our summer transfer thread pretty short 😉

Again, you don't have to wait for the window to start to sign someone, you can sign players outside of the window and then confirm the signing and registrate the player on the first day of the window. It happened already in the past.

As far as Muniz and Pepi not being available yet, Muniz will maybe only miss the Manchester United match. He could be back already for the match after that. I'm sure Raul would be extremely unhappy if he was left out of the squad prior to WC, as he, like Pepi, want to play as much as possible before the WC. Muniz is someone who's probably going to be our first choice striker for rhe next few season and having him out of the squad makes no sense either.

1. He won't be fit till march
2. There's no guarantees we don't see a Muniz injury flare up
3. There's no guarantee raul doesn't get injured after all his bodies been doing
4. He will be rehabbing initially then hopefully claim his place towards the last couple months if the season . Raul has done admirably in Muniz absence but he's only scored 5 non penalty goals on a massive amount of minutes. If he drops out the rotation, so be it, he's likely moved on in the summer, getting Pepi up to speed with the way we play now gives him more time to hit the ground running and be full integrated before next season.
5. Why would psv agree a deal now for the summer knowing the world cup is coming. If you're them you just wait to see if he has a good tourney and whack an extra 20m on the price if so...if he doesn't play that well or much it won't make a big loss the other way. the benefit to them selling now is they get the money NOW and can spend it on a fit striker because they are really short in that area currently...with Pepi out for a month or 2 that makes it more appealing to them now

You're assuming Muniz suffers no reactions to his injury with his hamstring. Would think he will be introduced back into playing very wisely by Marco.

Lookman a Ballon D'or nominee and you have still have people bringing up an irrelevant penalty, that would have had zero effect on our season, from 6 years ago.

And your point is?
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

I think that's what we are doing already, no? Judging by social media, Muniz has been slowly going from one form of training to the next for a while now. From what Marco said, he should be involved in training pretty much normally this week, but Manchester United game is too soon for him. To me it seems like we're already being as careful as one can be.

Training and competitive game time are two completely different things. Just look at Jedi who is now playing but struggling to adjust and it has been clear on occasions that he is very wary about putting his foot in on tackles in case he gets a reaction from his knee.

Ignore him mate. He was banned under his old account Freibird for being consistently toxic and only occasionally pops up with petulant insults now so that he doesn't get his comeuppance again. His only motivation in posting is to put people down, for his own psychological reasons

Atta scored tonight (albeit with a deflected shot) for Udinese vs Verona.
But maybe we should be looking at Zanoli (who scored Udi's second goal)
It was an absolute cracker ! 🤩

FFC007

If we get three very strong signings in, I think Silva will stay as will Wilson.

Traore off is a good move, falling into the deadwood category in my opinion.

With Bobb reportedly coming in, where do we stand with Chukwueze?

Atta set up Keinan Davis for Udinese's third too...

Chuk to Iwobi at 25mins mark

"Alex - the best thing you have done with your life is to allow me to come to this club"

Chukwueze is black and white 🖤🤍

...also some suggestion that at 20mins it looks like Traore possibly saying goodbye to his teammates in the background

I've got a hunch that if we sign Bobb tomorrow that we're going to attempt to sell Harry before the window closes,
Fantastic player having the season of his life but if he won't sign a new contract then what can we do,
He's worth £20 million now but he's worth nothing when the window closes, but it'll be very difficult to sell him now if his heart is set on becoming a free agent in the summer.

I'll double down. It was an arrogant penalty attempt. Regardless of how the season ended up... in the moment we were in a relegation scrap and badly needed points. He put his own ego ahead of the team. To me that is a defining moment that suggests the player thinks he's bigger than the club. Who's to say we won't find ourselves in a relegation scrap next season or the season after? Hard to count on players like that. Although he's a great player, and could do well with us - I'd rather we not bring Lookman back. Especially, considering we are well stocked on the wings and have other links.

It's a mistake but you can't define someone based on someone based on one error of judgment.

I felt the mistake was a product of nerves more so than arrogance. Really liked him when he was here and he's been exceptional in recent seasons.

Full agree with @RS61

LC

Happy with the players we've been linked with but surprised we haven't been linked with more midfielders. A central midfielder is the one place we are desperately short on and you would have thought it would be a priority. Anyhow, it will be interesting to see how the window plays out - I'm sure the club will get it right.
