Hopefully helps on the asking price as that's lost TV revenue now so they're not in such a strong bargaining position

I think it could really help. Defo lost money so may want some in. They are miles ahead in the league so essentially not much to play for. If they had gone through they may have wanted to keep him to see how far he could help them to get. Can only be a big positive. God bless you Harry Kane.  ::thumb::

Does it mean they are more willing to take the money now or more desperate to hold on for more money? I can't decide.

Verona make improved bid for Hibs striker
Hellas Verona have made an improved offer of around £6m for Hibernian striker Kieron Bowie.
Sky in Italy understands that Hibs are seriously considering the bid and the two clubs are in talks.
Verona had a £5m bid rejected yesterday and had moved on to other targets. But the Serie A club came back in with an other offer this afternoon and are hopeful a deal can be struck.
Fulham will receive 25 per cent of the profit if Bowie leaves. Hibs signed him for around £600,000.

That'll be 1.35m which is more than half of what we got for Adama

And by all accounts makes up the difference between what PSV want for Pepi and what we've bid, funny how a fairly innocuous signing and subsequent sale will probably seal us signing another striker

I find the lack of cm links very worrying. There were 2 or 3 links earlier in the window, but those links have completely disappeared in recent days(weeks).

Brighton match showed a lot of problems playing Iwobi in the middle can bring, and even if it didn't, with Lukic out, he's pretty much the only regular starter option we have, as I don't think TC can start every match and Reed isn't good enough anymore to starts consecutive matches. With Lukic out, I'd probably move to the back 5 in matches like the upcoming match against Manchester United, but that then brings another problem. We have many wingers/attacking midfielders, and if we play a back 5,there's one less player in those positions.

We need a midfielder asap. We should focus on that and forget about Pepi. Muniz is very close to being back anyway (and closer to being back fit than Pepi too).

Acutely aware of it being the case but not worried about it just yet.

3days to go and the fact we've been linked heavily throughout Jan means convos have at least taken place. We have a history of pulling out a couple late ones and I doubt signing Pepi is distracting us from buying a CM any more than it distracted us from signing Bobb.

Reportedly were likely a decision and an email away from signing off on Pepi. Think it likely were negotiating hard/possibly waiting for settlement of champs league rounds/possibly waiting for teams to sign replacements.

Would absolutely be my one slight concern if we didn't get a CM, more so in terms of Marco, but we are where we are without one and Iwobi returning from afcon + bobb maybe we could be considering at the 8 too. Who knows

Couple days till it'll all come out in the wash. Fingers crossed

Next signing has to be Chukwueze.  Get him inked.....

My thoughts on Harry are, is this a one season wonder? He has been far and away more effective this season than all his previous ones. Will he return to the norm once an extortionate salary is agreed? Maybe letting go on a free will be more cost effective in the long run? Who knows?

It's a tough question.

He is outperforming his xG by around 4 right now. That is extremely good. Now Harry is an excellent finisher and he does typically outperform his xG but it is historically been by 1-2 goals per season. He is on pace to outperform it by 7 over the course of the season. Naturally you would expect regression. There were two players that had similar performances last season in the Premier League. Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha. Both got huge money moves to Man United and this season are now performing about on par with their xG. The kind of form he is in, outperforming his xG by that amount is unsustainable. Messi only outperformed his xG at the rate Harry currently is a few times in his career. It would be insane to expect Harry to continue performing at the same level when even the greatest of all time was not able to sustain a that level.

The other issue is his age. He will be 29 at the start of next season. If he gets a 4 year contract he will be signed for his age 29, 30, 31 and 32 year old seasons. Wingers historically fall off quickly around age 30. There are only 8 wingers(technically 7 since Sterling is now no longer in a squad) in the Premier League over the age of 30 right now. Let's say we give him 125-150k per week. He will probably still be good next season, but what about the seasons after? If he's just average at age 30 then gets worse at 31 and 32 is that worth it? He would have a huge wage for our size and not contributing greatly for half of that huge contract. That could really hurt us long term.

There's definitely a lot of risk involved in signing him to the contract he wants and history probably tells us it would be wise to just let him walk considering his demands but it is also very hard to see past the emotional aspect and make that decision. And who knows maybe he continues to play at a high level for the length of the contract, but odds would be against it.

Wilson contract is a hard one as a fan.

He has never been on crazy wages and id respect him taking a stupid offer. However I really hope we at least make a competitive offer. As otherwise we're spending 30M to replace his quality on high wages.

Or, if we have Bobb, Kevin, sign Chuk, then you add in ESR and Iwobi as wing options, then we've got the players we need?

My only concern is that we've been very reliant on Wilson for goals and subsequently points this season.. chuk out of the rest named is the only one who's shown any reliable consistency for scoring goals, which seems like a dumb position to put ourselves in

It's a shame he never got
anywhere near a first team squad appearance.

Hopefully Bobb passes his medical, then they can get the photos done and announce today.

We Are Premier League

Angel Gomes is desperately trting to get a transfer, considering a loan to Wolves atm. Surely that is exactly what we need for CM?

He's a neat and tidy player for sure. Not sure if he's physical enough, bit of a Seri type.

My point is, I think a new cm should have been an absolute priority. I'd rather we kept Adama and not got Bobb, but got a cm, than the other way around. I think we absolutely need a cm, I don't think we absolutely need anyone in any other position.

JoeS

When is the deadline for Bobb to be registered in order to be in the squad on Sunday?
