Bloody hell we don't half love a saga.

Pepi, Andre, CHO (getting closer apparently), Willian twice, Tete, Marco, Joao. Even Chuk and Kevin went on.

That said, it seems like we're in the right here.

Lol wtf

And article above says we want the deal to come into effect early July?

So what's the issue with that for PSV? surely we can't legally do it earlier ???

Hatch007

Surely the date of when the transfer would officially come in to effect would have been part of the conversation before a medical was arranged 🤷🏻

If they want us to do the insurance and class the transfer as now then he doesn't play for them again surely, that's similar to when we signed Bullard isn't it as he didn't play for Wigan a agin as the deal was done before the end of the season. If they wish to play him they pick up the insurance

C Block

Can we have a look at Mikey Moore, the young Tottenham striker currently on loan at Glasgow Rangers, this boy looks a real prospect.

FFN saying "No we didn't. (Move the goalposts) We refused to take financial responsibility for him from now... Instead wanting to do it when the window opens.
I don't think it's dead."

I have no idea what that means? They want us to pay his wages? Or commit to transfer even if he gets injured? God knows

What a mad business

rusty shackleford

I dont really give a sh1t if we sign Pepi or not. He would need to be a world beater for all this nonsense

I think PSV want us to basically give them the money now and have it legally binding that we buy him as soon as the window opens. Naturally we like any sensible club would only want it to become formal at the start of the window when we choose to confirm it, because if he did his ACL or something between now and July then we don't want to near enough break our transfer record on someone who might not be able to play for 6 months

FFC007

PSV are clearly playing silly buggers...

That said, if the Pepi deal is off, perhaps that's Silva gone too...

Oh well, if Silva goes because of that then bye bye, we shouldn't put our club in a financial position just to keep him. It's not like he is taking us any further forwards.

sarnian

Perhaps he's failed the medical so PSV are looking for excuses.

Shame André Shūrrle doesn't still play for us. Otherwise it might've been the Pepsi and Shūrrle Show...

My interpretation was this is actually our position. Which wouldn't be unusual - clubs often agree to transfers in the future, and accept the risk of injury in the meantime. Same as when you sign a player in Jan and loan him back to the selling club for the second half of the season. Sounds to me like PSV are saying no, you sign him now, and pay his wages to sit in your reserves until the summer.

If that is so, then that is pretty ridiculous. What a strange situation.

Not sure that's fair, we're notorious for f**king around with the details of deals last minute

Reposting this because this twitter thread contains in multiple screenshots an English translation of the entirety of Rik Elfrink's article from earlier this evening. It describes in more detail what purportedly scuppered the deal (at least from PSV's perspective).
