Quote from: St Eve on May 22, 2026, 07:57:29 PMI still think he is going to stay and that would be excellent news
And only reason for that decision would be him not getting the Benfica job obviously.

I wish we would take the opportunity to just thank him and wish him well and be ambitious as a club and go out and get an exciting manager that can bring in some new ideas and take the club forward.

Glasner, Iraola, Hurzeler have really elevated CP, Bournemouth and Brighton and taken them to another level, and clearly surpassed us

Not necessarily. He may be weighing up his options, which he has every right to do

This is it.

Why should we be happy to be Marco's fall back option when he can't land himself the move he wants?

Many would not be happy -but the owners are desperate for him to stay. So desperate that they are reportedly increasing their offer . They want survival in this league above everything else and they would appear to be wary of the risk of employing someone new .
It is their train set and they want to keep him

Quote from: Deeping_white on May 22, 2026, 01:44:04 PMApparently it will be decided next week according to Marco in his press conference. He's not even going to give us clarity before the last game of the season which feels a bit poor in all honesty, I don't know what will change in 7 days given he's confirmed we've offered him a new contract as well
I'm expecting June 1st when I think his contract ends an announcement that he is leaving, if he was to disclose where he's moving too before there's probably a clause in his contract that he doesn't get his seasons bonus. Otherwise why wouldn't he announce what is happening before the season ends.

His contract ends on June 30th

Been told players know he's leaving.

I suspect he's told them ages ago which is why they've been underperforming so much in the final third of this season.

Well if it is true ( who genuinely knows? )and the players know then so must the owners. Given that they have to sanction any public announcement it must mean they do not want it announced until they are ready. So that would bonk on the head any idea that he is the one who is " toying" with us

Why? Just thank him and let him go! We've been hopeless for weeks with boring performances and he has lost interest. New manager with enthusiasm, new tactics, bring some quality into the midfield and up front and we will all feel like getting behind the team again.

Whatever you think of Marco - there isn't a great deal of real football knowledge above him

Wouldn't it just be marvellous if Real say no to Jose, he signs on again at Benfica and SK withdraws Silva's contract. It was on the table for him to sign but he stalled and stalled. Should have just signed it and we could be preparing for next season already. Not that I would be over the moon of Silva stays.

AJW48361

I'm not sure if the reports on how much the Club are prepared to offer Marco to
stay are entirely accurate or Genuine.

All this faffing around, and our style of play lately, I wouldn't be that upset if he left. Been a great servant and achieved promotion and more importantly stability.
I'll more than gladly tip my hat to him and bid him adieu......

I can't it's just a feeling. Maybe down to structures in other clubs. Our late transfer business every season . Part time issues . The current malaise over. MArco' s contract . The treatment of fans . Oh and maybe down to the fact I have been the President of an International business as well as a Director of a football club
I feel things aren't quite right. Is that okay for me to have that opinion ?
Apologies but whichever side of the Marco debate you are on - the Club isn't coming out of it looking like it's an engine firing on all cylinders  .
My opinion - which many of you are entitled to to think is a load of tosh.

If Silva stays because of a huge budget then financially crippling could it be come end of season.

Claudio Ranieri might be interested in coming back,.he hasn't managed in a while.

17% win record he had at Fulham.
