Think that this is hitting on a key point, we need a photogenic manager who is relatable articulate and without off-putting personal habits - This may narrow the field a bit!

Frank's coaching background was "Talent development" and the whole recruitment strategy at B'ford is different to ours.
If Frank came in there would have to be big changes in how we recruit for the club to get the benefit of his experience.

But I think most people would agree our recruitment currently sucks, so change would be great

No 70%, Yes 30%, but every day without an appointment will push me further to yes. Will be interesting what plan B is, now that plan A is officially off the table. You would hope that as plan A was nearing a point of no return, plan B would be discussed so that come July 1st there will be someone in place. I take it the chances of early signing will next to none.. who will sign if they've never talked to their new boss.

Actually looking forward to next chapter.  It was time for a change.  Hopefully ownership has been preparing for MS departure and have candidates lined up and are talking to them.  Looks like Palace already have their new gaffer, Sage, from French League.  Would be nice to get someone in place soon so preparations can be made for style of play and new acquisitions.  But I understand the OP's hesitations, if transfer window does not go right, next season could be a nail biter.  Let's see who replaces MS and support him and the club.

My mind goes back to Bolton, Blackburn, Coventry, Charlton and a few others that had a few seasons in the top division (even West ham with Moyes) and their supporters all thought that more could be achieved...  and it all went wrong.

I am absolutely devasted Marco has left because it is the lack of a fully formed squad that has held us back.

I am also critical of some of marco's decisions and thought we should and could have done a bit better but not much better because the quality isn't there in our squad.

I have little faith the leaders of our club have planned for this or have a proper short list. I do not know how we got Marco because that was a master stroke after a succession of duds after the unfortunate depature of Slav. We will now have to see what happens but I am not at all optimistic.

Some of the names mentioned as potential replacements leave me very uneasy and I do not know why so many have it in for Frank. He is not my first choice but I could see logic in that.... Mr Lampard on the other hand IMO would be a disaster but that is based on a very poor track record except for last season and Coventry seem to me to have been building for a few seasons so do not think he was the architect of success. But that is just my opinion.

Not flat, the football was poor and whilst MS stabilised the club it wasn't good, a lack of s plan b,  stagnant last 3rd a season yearly.

Wish him the best but feel we have opportunity to push on with a fresh approach.

Underwhelming is the right word. I feel the club are either looking at an experienced mid table mgr who can try for steady improvement or an ambitious, unproven one from outside the division. One list is wholly uninspiring with guys like Nuno, Potter, or Frank in it. The other with guys like McInnes, the Brazilian  mgr or McKenna feels like too great a risk at the club's current position.

Add in the fact that the club were obviously waiting on Marco for a decision, it worries me that they may not be that enthusiastic about a switch either.

I'm in two minds.

I was in the "Silva out" camp from more or less the start of the season. It wasn't because of the results, or his performance, I just felt like there wasn't anything further to come in his tenure and the football wasn't as exciting to watch as it once had been.

In theory a new manager means for a more unpredictable and potentially more exciting season next year. We could push on, or we could end up back in the Championship - who knows? With Silva in charge I'd have been expecting an uneventful 11th-14th finish again, and I feel like I'd like to see something different this year.

Then I put on the tinfoil hat and conclude that the reason we've been finishing mid table with such consistency might be because that's exactly what the ownership want.  Nothing which threatens the stability and the business opportunity the club represents.

I'm expecting a strong and steady appointment, but I'm hoping for more of a roll of the dice.

I think I would have been feeling flatter if Silva had signed an extension. I'm looking forward to the next season.

The potential manager lists and the bookies dropping hints all over the place adds to the angst. What is Khan to do? Look at his key signings and go for somebody who might actually get a tune from them and revitalise the spine of the squad. Go for somebody to inspire the younger members of the first team squad to take the step up so we at least have the makings of a five year plan. I do feel in Bobb, Kevin, Muniz, King, Sess, ESR, Harris and perhaps the ageless Bassey there is plenty to work with, nurture and inspire. A young aspiring coach then but they would have to have enough kudos to make it work. Fabregas? I don't think Cuenca really got a chance and somewhere in Berges head there is a footballer. If we take 28 years old as senior player material I guess Lukic just gets in but Chuk and Wilson might need to get their skates on.
I still think we need coaching, we need confidence and we need work to begin pretty darn quick. Why does Mullins keep returning to my list?

Am I flat?  No, not at all, I am looking forward to a new manager with new idea who is inheriting a vey decent set of footballers.

I understand people feeling a bit blown out by Marco leaving, what I don't understand is why the usual suspects are starting to pipe up whingeing again already.  This is what you wanted.

Lets see who comes in, the ideas they have and the players that are signed.  Imagine if ESR, Kev, and AN Other were actually released to do what they do.  It could be brilliant.

If we end up with McKenna or Frank I'll definitely be on this side of the fence.

However if we get a left field or inspired replacement then it'll be the opposite. Much hinges on the big man
