I don't hate the player but I must be missing something?

He's always looked alright but not really anything that would warrant that outlay to me. He's young but that seems a hell of a lot of money to me for a player who hasn't exactly lit the roof on fire

If so - somehow bang in line with the seemingly regular time we seem to make our first new signing (24th-26th July)

EDIT* FFN saying he means the deal agreed obviously not the full transfer (which will presumably require a medical etc) So now I think about it, whats the likelihood even if we agree the deal with club today that the player is able to fly out have his medical and move house before Monday?

Suppose if we got him on a plane tomorrow to UK he could do his medical at the weekend and move into somewhere temporary and join the team soon as he's able to

I don't doubt that FFN may hear bits and pieces, but I struggle to see much evidence that he's got any genuine inside knowledge on most things he tweets about.

What stands out to me is that he rarely breaks stories himself. Most of the time he follows existing rumours and adds cryptic updates that make it sound like he has inside information. The problem for me is that the updates are often so open ended that they're almost impossible to prove wrong.

For example, you'll get one tweet saying he expects a deal to get done because Fulham are optimistic. Then, a little later, there'll be another saying Fulham could still walk away if their conditions aren't met. Both statements can be true during negotiations, but together they cover almost every eventual outcome.

* The player signs: "We said all along Fulham were optimistic."
* The deal collapses: "We told you Fulham could still walk away."
* Fulham move on to another target: "The club decided to pursue other options."
* Nothing happens for days or weeks: "Talks are still ongoing."

That's why I find it difficult to judge the reliability of the information. There never seems to be a point where you can clearly say, "That was wrong," because every possible scenario has already been accounted for in previous updates.

That's why, to me, it feels much more engagement driven reporting.

Yes. But let's not pass up an opportunity to lavish praise on the efficiency, acumen and negotiating skill of a rival. Brentford, Brighton or Bournemouth for preference, but Sunderland will do at a pinch.
If the player is reported as possibly signing for us, of course, he will be immediately identified as overpriced, over rated and inadequate for our needs.

I remember you pointing out Sunderland as the team to watch last season and getting dogs abuse for it from usual positivity police suspects. I had my doubts too but you were right. They are certainly better run than us however the fee quoted does seem very high

I just saw on skysports website Julian Brandt is a free transfer, apparently Leeds are looking at him. He's recently turned 30 years old and has a lot of experience. I think he's worth looking at.

I think Jordan James could be another interesting signing, he was on loan at Leicester last season and they were regulated and he still managed to score 11 goals. I think he would probably be available for £10-15m. Could be an interesting signing.

He is pure class. Going to be a beast of a player.

If in fact Sunderland gets him, that would be incredible. Forest and Newcastle wants him as well, so looks like those clubs were ready to bank on him becoming a 100m player
