A bit boring, I know. However credit to whoever got this deal done. Seems Real Madrid are very good at selling players. So to negotiate a deal with an eye on our overall budget, spending thresholds and the seller throwing in the odd curve ball. Has to be applauded. On top of that, they're probably doing other deals and trying to get these done, filling gaps on the pitch and keeping a manager happy as well.

£34m up to £35.5 with bonuses

If we end up having to sell him for £100m + in a couple years then he's presumably done absolute wonders for us and we're still able to make a good £25m profit

Absolute buzzing for this kid

Proper hard worker who presses like a demon and has that swagger about him plus managed by a previous mentor who knows him inside out and in a system he's already familiar with

That's 30m in Euros so the bonuses would come to more like £25m.

?
Nah it's 40m euros which is 34m pounds

And bonuses of 2m euros which is around 1.5m (1.7m)

I may have misunderstood your post, I thought you were saying it's £30m bonuses. Never mind.

Per a publication called Football Italia today.

Couldn't be any less surprising.......meh...........

It was announced several days ago he wouldn't be coming here; RM want him to play for a team in European competitions and I don't know if he's actually going to turn out as a star, he looks a bit of a flop from the pre-season games that Garcia excelled in and the RM fans think he's a bit of a donkey

Definitely. We've done extremely well to get 2 very promising players for £40m and less of a sell on than Madrid wanted to give with no buyback. Credit to TK and I presume Ali Mac as much as that hurts to say.

Sorry to be negative but £25m profit off a £100m+ sale wouldn't feel great to me - and that's assuming he gets sold for that which feels more unlikely than not. For context, that's the same amount of profit we got for selling Sessegnon to Tottenham and that was 7 years ago (equivalent to £33m now).

£25m profit maybe but we'd then have £60m in the bank and with how SCR works that single sale in this hypothetical instance means you're then able to spend about £100m off the back of it, which for us is huge

In the entirely hypothetical case of selling for £100m the profit to FFC would be approx. £35m not £25m. Some of the arithmetic on here is shocking!

In his defence he was going off what I'd said and as mentioned was on the move at the time somewhat distracted  (driving between locations in the countryside when I shouldn't have been on me phone at all really 😬 so me driving probably even worse than my spelling or arithmetic)

But regardless, cash aside , good deal we hopefully can universally say we're excited about   and turn focus to what he can contribute for us now before any such move.

Time to enjoy him, really hope he and or Palacios really thrive here as it could help us become a more desirable destination for top young talent if the likes of Kevin/Bobb/Oscar/Garcia/Palacios do bits for us and end up at the very top

The guy hasn't even got here yet, and we are talking about selling him. 🤣

It's important to squeeze at least a tiny bit of misery out of a situation which, if confirmed, is an entirely happy moment for us

Well part of the strategy of buying young players is that you should be selling him at or close to his peak for maximum profit.

Seems to me a great deal for two top quality players - what we needed too!
Hearty pat-on-the-back to all concerned .... playing in black shorts as well ... what could be better?!!

Pinch me - can it really be true? Fulham have actually gone out and bought a quality centre forward and a goal scoring attacking midfielder, something we´ve been lacking for so long.  Soooooooooooo excited to see these two lads play at the Cottage! ::scarf::

Fulham have never signed a player from Real Madrid

Now we've signed 2 in one go 😅

A galactico striker at the cottage. Imagine if by euro 2028 we have the starting striker for spain.

Similar price to Kevin - think that seems to be the going price for top quality youth talent with a minor track record then

Kevin signed for £34.6m - so a similar price, and both on what look like 5 year contracts, so amortised over that as £6m a year or so.

Anyone know a bit about Palacios?  I think he's a midfielder.  Does he chip in with any goals?  Just curious.....

Yeah really tidy for Castilla. Great first touch, going to need some time though.

Put a few words together here for anyone curious:

Still a lot to be proven with these two - Palacios in particular has little first team experience, Garcia much more promising, but that tracks given the difference in fees.

Arbeloa knows them well and vice versa, so if they all think they can work well together, then happy to give benefit of the doubt.

Will take time to adjust to league though - mitigated somewhat by a longer period in pre-season, Arbeloa knowing the demands of the league, a strong latin base of players and both players knowing Arbeloa's management style and coaching methods.

Fingers crossed they hit the ground running.

Expect Garcia to potentially be a starter, and Palacios a backup for the initial period.

We still need more depth in midfield and up front, and ideally a bit more maturity and experience. Perhaps get Palhinha back? A more mature signing, kept spurs up in a poor team and clearly not wanted by Bayern, could do a job for us for a couple of seasons and has a love for the club and a never say die attitude. Would provide a more rock solid foundation for us and perhaps be at a cheaper price given older.

Clearly a winger and cb are on the shopping list too. I'm excited about high quality young players, as I'm sure many are, but we need to balance this with wiser heads to help those younger players navigate the ebbs and flows of match-day football in the PL and cups.

What I am enjoying is the core quality levels of the youth we're building now

Sess, King, LDF, Kevin, Palacios, Garcia, Bobb and JKA, with arguably JKA and Palacios being the weakest.

we've got two defenders, two strikers, two wingers, two CMs/AM and a striker in there..

So two more defenders, one more striker for depth, another starting winger, a GK and a LB and RB and we're almost there. It means those players can challenge each other, grow and develop together and build something meaningful.

Add in Muniz, ESR, Cuenca, perhaps Nwainwu and one or two others, the squad looks intriguing to say the least. If they all perform

HobGoblin

Great signings, a few more to replace Reed, Muniz, Timo etc I reckon we could have a great season.

Appreciate that some will think Muniz a good back up. But I dont think he has it in him at Prem level.
