Fulham 1879

I'm convinced by the YouTube highlights of Jordan James posted above as well as jayffc's arguments above about the quality of former Championship player of the season winners. James clearly knows not only where the goal is but, just as importantly, plays some insightful, defence splitting passes and can also break up play. Love to see him at the Cottage.

Yeh, I must say that the list of former young players of the year winners in the champ makes for pretty compelling argument that it shouldn't be dismissed out of hand at least. Given we're currently looking like signing an 8 I do wonder how many more CM/DMs we'll bring in.
Dave Kidd suggesting 2 in 1 out (Lukic) is what he's heard but who knows. James certainly has a real bite to him and physicality which I like - wether he'd be good at the 6 is another question though and I think we really could do with someone there, so there is a question over wether he would be brought in IF we signed Pitarch which is looking increasingly likely.

The Cravenette

Sander played as a 6 for Norway throughout the WC and had a good tournament. I think with some capable and  willing CMs ahead of him this would work well for us.

Yeh I don't mind Berge at the 6. But I don't know that he necessarily provides crazy cover for back 4. Very good player as he is.

Twig

Personally I'm very positive about the Jordan James rumour and I hope it happens.

What happened with Nwaiwu deal ? My god,  it is really painful stuff following our transfer attempts.
We do have serious issues when it comes to targeting and sealing deals for new players...

@jolslover

Surely CB has to be one of the top priorities from now until opening day or the first two games of the season De Foug will start at RCB (Andersen suspended) and I am not sure he is ready

edit - either that or one of Cuenca / Bassey at RCB

Inside track is apparently:

Trabonzospor aren't keen on selling but the club offered around 30m euros which is what they asked for, Nwaiwus club had allegedly moved posts on fee that we met and then increased a few times, then they moved several goalposts regarding the structure. Rumours at time suggested they wanted 10m up front, rest in 2 installements, then once agreed - it was 15 up front...etc

Then to top it off a new agent entered the scene that Nwaiwu reportedly has now signed with and began also making mad demands. We got sick of it and walked away, currently exploring other targets. I assume we left our offer on the table but only in the form it last was in case they want to stop fecking about. TBH it sounds like we'd offered them a record sale, and the player double his wages by all reports so at some point ya do have to say, fine f off then

Make of it what you will but that's whats come from those with supposed inside links, and it seems to match the timeline logically.

In the meantime it sounds like 3 on their way in from RM soon which is welcome news.

Off twitter now ... Fulham reject 50m from Roma for Kevin. Reported by big Brazilian Journo.

10m more than we paid last year but think he's vital for this season and will have a great year.

I dunno. Feels like a Muniz from last summer moment. I'd be tempted to cash in now as I was never fully convinced by him.

Fair enough, I think he's a very good player personally - will revisit in a year.

Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Nah, not for me...still young, see what Arbeloa can do with him. Just as he started showing what he could really do and stepping up his form, he got injured, and then hard to judge coming back off of that injury.

We hopefully will have some people alongside him between Palacios, Pitarch and Garcia and of course King and ESR that can hopefully get operating on the same wavelength and unpick defences. 10m profit is no where near worth selling and glad the club haven't. If you look at how much players are going for in the prem, if he even has a slightly better year next year having been played from the start and not getting badly injured then he'll be worth far more.

Only a marginal profit for a key player this season .. when we are already having a squad overhaul.
Clear NO IMO

Whitestone

We have a new manager building a younger, exciting team. Now isn't the time to cash in on Kevin.

Was just starting to look like he was getting to grips with the premier League when he was injured at Sunderland. Definitely think he could be a very good player for us

KJS

Have to keep Kevin as Areolas style of play will suit him better than Marcos

Its so frustrating with our club - every transfer seems a long drawn out saga. I fully understand the need to extract every £ of value but each transfer seems so painfully protracted

Why is it aaaaaalways the club doing everything wrong for some. It's like some of you think everything is a one sided deal with some blue eyed kid all by himself and then Tony with a fat cigar in the corner of his mouth on the other other side of the table just slamming a couple of bags of money on the table and chattering "here kid, is that good enough for ya?".
Jay has given a wealth of reasons on why this particular deal might be going slow, but hey ho, "it's the club".

And why is it always excuses for the club for others? Maybe people have different personalities and opinions and maybe 'some' shouldn't be so infantile about that and try to accept it
