I see the point, but flipping him now for what 10m EUR profit? Not really going to make the numbers that much. Fees are amortised over the course of the contract so probably worth keeping.

There's a reason that Liverpool where monitoring him too.

Muniz is different considering he cost 5m and Atalanta wanted 40m. Different financials entirely.

I'd also suggest that Kevin is quite a rare find these days - Many coaches want wingers that want to go 1v1 but not many in demand that are naturally quick and play wide. Most wide midfielders wanted to be a 10 or CM and forced wide.  May not have had the best season G/A wise but he looked our biggest threats in some games when in the side.

We didn't pay €40m for Muniz. Kevin played half a season for us, in part due to Marco taking forever to start new players and then him getting injured just as he started finding his form. WAY too early to be writing off Kevin he's only played 1k minutes for us - equivalent of 11 games

Why take only €5-10m profit on Kevin (the  50m fee is inclusive of bonuses) when we already have enough changes going on in the squad as it is? He's young and still has plenty potential there prior to his prime years. In a world where average players are going for crazy money, seems ill advised to flog a 23 year old for little more than we paid for him a year ago.

Personal view is that Reed offers too little these days and should be offered on a free to get his wages off the books. TC showed last season just how valuable he can be off the bench, both offensively with his passing vision and to help calm things down and retain possession when we are defending a lead. I have no problem with retaining him this season but we really do need to be finding his successor as a matter of urgency.

"Offered on a free" By that do you mean pay off the rest of his wages? But that wouldn't "get his wages off the books." We'd still need to pay him the rest of the contract.

I'm not sure whether you have deliberately misunderstood or whether I haven't been clear so here goes. By made available on a free, I mean offered on the transfer market as being available as a permanent signing from us to the receiving club for £0. That club would offer Reed a new contract and would be entirely responsible for his wages. Just like any other transfer except we wouldn't ask for a fee to buy him. Simple enough I think?

If you are trying to point out that Reed might choose to stay at FFC and turn down that transfer opportunity then yes, I agree that could happen. We can't force him off our books. I'm simply saying that we should try to engineer a position which works both for Reed and us.

Well the "offer" of £40 m was a rumour like all the hype that surrounds transfer speculation. Nothing more, nothing less. However if, and it is an if, there was a genuine opportunity to sell him at that price then I tend to agree that we missed the boat.

Kent, I'm not looking to debate the Muniz decision but I'd just say that for your own wellbeing I'd recommend letting it go now. We've all made decisions that could have been done differently but looking forward on what can be achieved today or tomorrow is in my experience less stressful than repeatedly revisiting things that cannot be changed.

The Muniz offer was  28.5 million going up to 32 million in pounds sterling. And Flamengo have a 25 % sell on clause so if we sold him for 32 they would get 8 million pounds sterling

It was a point made to address the unrealistically high figures people often demand before they'd personally approve a sale of one of our players. Kevin may not have had a fair chance yet but his performances raise a real doubt as to whether he's a superstar in the making. Usually, really quality players are pretty obvious. When Willian first came to us it was obvious straightaway that he was a cut above the rest.

Muniz clearly has it in him because he's demonstrated it. His problem is confidence and consistency.

I'm wondering if AA can get something out of him... does he ever play two up top, unlike Silva?

Yeh I got what you were saying I'm just saying I don't think it's unrealistic that Kevin can fetch more than this - he was already killing it in the champions league when he joined us and has played a total of 11 full 90s for us interupted by an injury. Despite this he's already being approached for a profit which tells you that should he even have a slightly better season than last the likelihood is he can go for far more.

Kevins first appearance for us was one of the most exciting by a debutant in a long time.  Alongside the "I thought we'd signed Pele" comments from Cairney in training, he lit the place up in his first appearance, and he was already doing that week in week out for Shaktar and in Europe before joining us.
Sadly from there he then continued to feed mostly on scraps from Marco introducing him slowly, and after a period of less impressive performances and cameos where he certainly seemed to struggle and wasn't playing as fearlessly - he started to really show those signs of the player he can be again, culminating in scoring that absolute belter at old trafford. Then, sadly, injury struck which set him back. We bought him to be a star for us, so no way would I take €10m for him after 1k minutes.

I wanna see what he can do alongside the likes of Garcia/Pitarch/King/Palacios this season in a new system.

As for Muniz, it isn't yet solidified that he couldn't refind his goalscoring boots and fetch a decent fee at only 25. He too had knee surgery last year which disrupted his season, coming off the back of good form I could see the argument for keeping him at the time, It may turn out that wasn't the best option, but that's football it happens and nothing is guaranteed so every decision is a risk one way or another - sometimes people call it right, sometimes they get it dead wrong. That goes for the club and fans on here.

@jayffc Yes, I agree with your post. I'm happy to take the risk and give Kevin and Muniz another year. Our "front 4"  were starved of service for much of the season. If we controlled midfield a bit better they'd have more opportunities to showcase their talents.

Very that, our attack really stagnated last year whoever was on the pitch and so I'm hopeful a system shake up will make alot of difference. Garcias movement also looks really top notch so I'm hoping our attackers can get on the same wavelength. We got so many young talents in attack now that we really only need one or 2 of them to come good to make a a hefty wedge in return when the poachers circle. Therefor I'd take the risks here and see what this team can do under Arbeloa.

Muniz has scored 10 goals or more a season in 2 out of the last 3 seasons in all competitions, and to be fair he was injured for a lot of last season so struggled for form. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he scored around the 10 mark again.

did you not see us sell march and macdonald for threepence halfpenny, they were the biggest errors in my opinion.
We will have to see about Muniz. He is a top player in my eyes but has to stay fit, he was playing last season with a back injury if that is cleared up then I think many will review their critical position... if not then your, we should have taken the money, will have been proved correct.

 Marco came to us on the back of short spells at other Clubs. Coming to Fulham worked for us and for him. He needed a new  Club to take his next step and fortunately  and hopefully for us AA is taking his next step. Hopefully he'll bring out the best in Rodrigo, Bobb, King and the rest of the squad.
