Just a few days from Chelsea and we have gaping holes in the squad, this is not great

I do not see any "gaping holes" at all. If by "gaping holes" you mean "we will need to play the first games with two LCBs" then OK, we have one gaping hole for one match. Would you rather we sign someone in a rush by say Friday and shoehorn them in no matter the cost after a day or two of training with the squad just for the sake of it? It's not like we are currently missing half a squad of potential starters. We do not have any "gaping holes", to me that would be the likes of "oh, we currently have zero senior strikers and no left back at all in the team" of which we are extremely far away from experiencing.

Fulham have made an offer for Real Betis defender Natan, while also continuing negotiations with Rennes for Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal.

That's according to journalist Santi Aouna. He reports that an offer is now on the table for the Brazilian centre-back.

Fulham have made an offer for the 25-year-old Real Betis centre-back. There is no mention of the nature of that bid. He is currently valued at €25m by the likes of Transfermarkt.

Sport Witness covered a report on him last month. At that point, it was Leeds United making a renewed bid. They had previously seen a €27m bid rejected by Betis. So, it is easy to imagine that the asking price is above that figure.

Journalist Álvaro Borrego provides information explaining why a deal may be difficult for Fulham, however.

Given the speed in which Fulham have entered negotiations it is thought that the conversation was positive & the player despite previously giving his yes to Valencia, is open to the move to Craven Cottage. Fulham are financially prepared to pay his full €8m release clause.

Apparently it's more about the fact he wants to get Spanish citizenship, as he wants to be eligable to play for Spain specifically and qualify to do so by living there for a number of years as a resident. Apparently he's been open about this desire to do so.

That's what Dembele did years ago to guarantee Fulham got a decent fee from Spurs.

I think Pitarch is hoping for more minutes playing in the Madrid first team this season. I suspect we revisit next season if that doesn't happen.  He is currently injured anyway, so I don't think he will be ready to play until for another 4-6 weeks (based on info online).
