Quote from: FFC007 on August 22, 2026, 08:56:20 AMThey've known for a long long time that a RCB is a top priority and we are heading into match week one undercooked in the back line.

If Bassey or Cuenca get injured we are in serious bother.
Yep, that sums up our recruitment team.
Most other clubs just go out and get it done.

Well we offered what Trabzon wanted for Nwaiwu and an agent messed that deal up, and we've offered big money for AAB which for someone who has played the amount of football he has, is quite a big deal. Are you suggesting we should just pay quoted fees for some of these players or just cave to crazy demands? FWIW other PL clubs are also struggling to sign CB's that are both good enough and cost a sensible amount so clearly it's not a Fulham specific struggle...

Pitarch wasn't even on the bench in Real's la liga opener? Is he not fit yet, or is it a sign of things to come?

out till September

Count Flapula

Pitarch has not only signed a new contract, it's specifically a first team contract as opposed to another B squad/Castilla one and been told he has a future at the club.

He is out of the squad because of injury.

Sadly the move is dead.

Dead, dead, dead. Dead as a dead thing. A dodo of a deal. A zilcher. Not happening.

Cestero the other hand...

Not another Norwegian Blue!

Roll on 2nd September. We won't have to scroll in the hope of actually seeing a credible rumour instead of pages of hot air.  :welcome1:

Whilst hope springs eternal, this thread was started the day after the last transfer window closed. Within 24 hours careful consideration was being given to our summer signings of Pepi and Bidon, as the new management team of Carrick and Hangeland plotted our path to glory.  I expect things will be much the same next month.

Have to ask .... where's the right winger?!!

I think that would be Oscar Bobb.  Don't shout about it, but the club were proactive when it came to Wilson and signed his replacement before he left.

Manchester City are interested in Natan

Manchester City are closely monitoring one of Real Betis' defenders in the final stretch of the transfer window.

Manchester City have expressed interest in Natan , the 25-year-old Brazilian center-back, and are monitoring his situation in this final stretch of the transfer window. The defender is under contract with the Seville-based club until 2030 and his price tag is around €30 million .

Natan's name has been circulating in transfer rumors for weeks. Real Betis is open to considering a sale if an offer meets his valuation, as a deal of that magnitude would free up funds for the club to complete other transfers before the transfer window closes.

RW was always rumoured all summer to be a position that would likely go to the last week as a loan or cheap move

We signed Bobb already in a big move anticipating Wilson's departure. Now we're hoping we can pull off a Nwaneri type deal but apparently Arsenal aren't overly keen on a permanent option being included in the loan, so well see

Bronaldinho

Matt O'Riley's time at Brighton seems to be up. Give that he can play in many roles in the midfield and knows the club already, I could see him being a strong addition. No links yet, but he is linked to Lyon.

Been a real stinker for Brighton tbh. Sounds like Cestero is the desired CM after Pitarch and he does look quality tbf.

Is it possible we are OK at CB with Bassey, Joa, Cuenca & LDF? I'm starting to think the club is satisfied with our options given the dearth of reporting about a search for a CB. I don't think it would be the end of the world not to sign one. But if we don't we could be an injury or two away from disaster.

Transfer news seems to have completely dried up lately. I'm hoping it's the calm before the storm. Andersen feels like a glaring weakness in this system. Would much rather get a younger CB in to compete with him and send LDF out on loan for regular game time.

Window  will liven up this week, loan deals are usually done in last week

Just because we're not reading any rumors doesn't mean they're not working hard trying to sign one.

I would be VERY concerned if we don't sign one. LDF is not ready for the PL.

Agree. I am a bit worried that our main link at CB is Ait Boudlal, he may be talented but strengthwise seems lacking as we saw v Sunderland. We're already a bit on the light side as it as a squad, while I respect the commitment a ball playing philosophy, I don't think we can ignore how physical the league is.

jayffc

Yeh it's not a matter of club being perfectly happy with RCB, it's a matter of doing what's possible within budget and not being bent over when we're already offering very reasonable amounts for young talents with minimal experience

Ait Boudlal we've walked away for now and told the club were not going higher and said to player we may revisit next year. He wanted the move apparently

Next rumour is Mbow and apparently we've been offered Tomori by his agent apparently. Decent option for our system but we'll see what club opt to do

Yeah let's see. It seemed as though Ait Boudlal had been the target. I don't don't he is a talented player or might become a very good player. I would feel more comfortable if he was a development signing, and personally not confident in Andersen anymore. So if we can sign a ready to go RCB that would be ideal.

Don't know much on Tomori, but it's been curious how little PL interest there has seemed to be on him.
