Quote from: Chi_FFC on August 26, 2026, 08:55:33 PMOk, but I keep reading from many that JA simply cannot play in AA's system and we desperately need a RCB who is ready (or at least close to being ready) to start for us.

Who really knows what AA thinks of Andersen and how he would fit in the system. He's not played many minutes thus far because I'm assuming his first priority was to get Bassey and Cuenca up to speed as Andersen would not be able to the play the first match. All I know is if we don't sign another CB then it's just Andersen and LDF until at least January.

We Are Premier League

At this stage I would settle for just Raphael Le Guen and Jorge Cestero.

I don't think you'll find many 19 year olds who's played more than 500 senior minutes. Only wonderkids like Josh King can make the step up at that age.
Ait Boudlal, who is 5 months older, has ~2200 under his belt.

I mean you're proving my point here. Boudlal is kind of a wonderkid.

Not necessarily that he simply cannot play in it, but from what we've seen so far it's certainly not overly suited to his game. I would suspect we'll need to make some adjustments when he's in the team.

But the club wouldn't have been interested in finding a buyer and considering two centre backs if they were confident he fitted Arbeloas plans. It seems unlikely at this stage we can nail 2 CB signings in the time we have and in this market, unless one of those is Tomori and we can indeed at this late stage tempt a club with Joachim late.

Think one would be hard pressed to say the system Arbeloa clearly WANTS to play suits Joachim...it doesn't imo. But if we can't find a CB ready to start then well have to work out a way to incorporate him that doesn't leave him insanely exposed for pace

Would have been nice if AA made some adjustments on Monday, as in my view Cuenca is even less suited for AA's system than JA would be.

@jolslover

We need a RW,CM and CB. Non negotiable and get these sorted and I think we'll finish top half. Window shuts now and we struggle.

I would like a deadline day loan for Soule. Cestero would be good at CM and at CB Tomori or Ait Boudlal pick of the bunch for me.

We may also get a RB which IMO is a bonus. Bellanova would be cool but Castagne and Tete good enough IMO.

Perhaps, albeit small sample size and on paper he's at least a little faster and usually his passing isn't as bad as it was against Chelsea. Defence was so all over the gaff ya gotta think they change it for Monday though

Nicolas Jackson going to Aston Villa for potentially 65m (47.5m initial). What on earth is going on with these prices? Granted he actually managed to score 24 in 65 appearances in the PL but holy fk.

They also got 14m as a loan fee from Bayern last year. They really are geniuses when it comes to milking clubs for average players.

Trusty Steed

Gonzalo was cheaper than Delap & Jackson, and I'd much prefer Gonzalo

MickyAdamsFamily

By my calculation, Gonzalo Garcia has a proven record as a 1 goal-per-game striker in the Premier League...

3 pigs

Jake O'Brien wants out of Everton. Loads of experience 25yo right centre back and has played right back too.

One Delap costs more than GG and Palacios combined

Quote from: Thailand Mick on August 26, 2026, 03:04:17 PMApparently we watched Ait Boudlal again on Monday, I can see us biting the bullet and paying what Rennes want. Every transfer seems to have a starting position of 30m and now all these clubs know we need a RCB and we are not the only ones looking.

Hold on a second. We wait till the end of the window for value. Not to just pay and get the player late needing time to adjust.....
the fact that we have saved money on passed transfers by buying late means there are other transfers we could afford. This window looks like it has blown up more than usual by the big clubs paying ridiculus transfer fees for average players.

I wonder if we will get one in at all, and LDF is our fourth option...

Mastima
Le guen
Kossounou
Tamori

All looked at and linked

Tough market for sure
So much overpricing going on but sure we'll get someone in, who well have to see.

Also sounds like arsenal specifically wants Nwaneri to go on straight loan with promise of lots of minutes, which probably counts us out

Kossounou would be great, mate.

KentFulham

If AA ops for Cuenca and Bassey again this weekend I really hope he puts bassey back on the left sode of the CBs

Pavel Dempsey

Quote from: JimmyConway on August 26, 2026, 08:22:24 PMSeems to be a few decent goalies available and now could be a good time to look towards the future and keep Leno on his toes?

We missed a boat on Orlando Gill who just signed for Lille. Had a impressive World Cup for Paraguay and we were interested in him last year, I remember.

jayffc

@Pavel Dempsey sadly Kossounou is apparently the least likely looking based on current movements of clubs but agree hes a talent.

Apparently we also bid 30m for natan at some point but was rejected , there is interest I gather in both our Left sided CBs according to FFN on his patreon if people are interested in hearing the most up to date stuff there he's recently started it.

Don't know much about him - but seems he has mainly been utilised as a right back at Everton and he would rather play in the centre. This Everton news site suggests we are in for him: https://www.goodisonnews.com/transfers/what-we-know-as-fulham-want-to-sign-everton-defender-jake-obrien

It seems like a deal we could get done quickly.

Everton have been trying to sign a RB for multiple windows & lots of outfield defenders & mid fielders have been put there to plug a hole.  It's one of the alleged reasons O'Brien might be looking to move.

Both very inexperienced players a big ask to come in and expect to change things.
