I'm actually GLAD we didn't qualify this season. I don't think the squad is strong enough for both the premier league AND the additional games involved in a European campaign. However with a few additions, I am going to be pretty peed off if we don't qualify next season.
New attacking midfielders and forwards needed.

As an aside, anyone else notice who scored the goal that kept Tottenham up?

The extra place money, plus extra revenue of being in Europe, plus being there attracts better players, managers etc. An ambitious club would straddle both to grow.

The win om Sunday put us up 2 places. The last time i heard Keiron McGuire quote an amount was 2.65 Mil a place.

There's also the danger of overloading your season and getting into trouble. However I agree that in theory we should be able to cope. Like I said, if we strengthen for next season, I'm going to be peed off if we do not qualify.

The points needed to qualify this year was 12 points lower than it was last year. Massive missed opportunity

Yep, might not see too many of those

Threw a really good chance away, people thinking that next season will be easier to get into Europe....

Any chance should have been grabbed by the club with both hands, shocking form last 3rd of season cost us the chance

Easier to recruit players if in Europe,  younger players more likely to get a chance in team, therefore stay rather than leave.

It's a double edged sword really, isn't it?

Whilst I would have loved the fun of another European tour, PSR and now SCR make it increasingly difficult for clubs of our size to make an impact in Europe and survive comfortably in the Premier League. Sure, Palace have been an outlier this season, but it's a poor quality competition mostly and I reckon some of the Conference League teams would struggle in the Championship.

Just look at what Europe did to Forest this season and I suspect Sunderland will find out the same next season if they survive in Europe beyond September.

Remaining in the money spinning Premier League has to be the priority for continuing to grow the club, but that's not to say that I'm not disappointed too that come August we won't be able to tempt in some better players with the carrot of European football.

Would we have played with that freedom if we really needed to win yesterday?
