I don't see any contradictions. Just one typing error, suggesting the fee is 5.5 million Sterling when it's actually  5.5 million Euro's.

Just a question here: Since strikers who work in the Dutch league are routinely dismissed with comments along the lines of "It's easier to score in that league than in Scotland" and the evergreen, ever lovely, "My granny could average 10 goals a season in that league," why is it we're getting all excited over a centerback who plays in the same league.

If the strikers score so much because the defenses are crap, here's another question: How's Douglas going to stop vanPersie if he can't stop a granny?

This has been evolving all day.

It started off this morning with news that we were interested, and thats when the quote came out.

During the day however, Dutch Journos (all very reliable) all started tweeting that we'd had a 5.5 million euro bid accepted and that his agent was flying over.

fair point but i love the idea of us signing players from leagues like the eredivisie, which i honestly think, whilst inferior to the premiership in most respects, yield technically better players and better looking football. that's what i want at fulham. plus i've been waiting tooooooooooooo long for the day we sign a brazilian!
