Best TV show made? LOST without a shadow of a doubt!
It's funny because I actually think Lost has a good premise, although I've tried twice and failed twice just trying to finish the first season.

The first season is probably the worst as its soooooooooooo frustrating with so many questions and so few answers. If you can get about 3/4 through that season you will be hooked!

Curb your enthusiasm is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

And what are your favourite shows (apart from Sherlock)? I am looking for something new and some British show would be great. I've watched most American shows and now I am exploring British and Spanish TV series. :)

Can not believe that not one person has mentioned Community-one of the funniest, most endlessly quotable American comedy shows. Just amazing.

Never watch cartoons as they are for kids.  My son is always saying their are a lot of adult cartoon but that is just lazy or cheapskate.  If you have something serious to say use actors playing as people not cartoon version of them.

Geez, you're a barrel of laughs. How about suggesting something you like instead of making sweeping judgements on things you know nothing about.

A show which seemed to slip under the radar for everyone is Ideal. It's starts Johnny Vegas a pot dealer and it's set in his apartment building. There's 7 series of it I think, shown on the BBC, yet I've rarely met a person who's seen it.

I am watching a few at the moment, and have seen some really good series in the past:

Rome
Deadwood
Carnivale
Hell on Wheels
Justified
Community
Pillars of the Earth
Tudors
Borgias
Weeds
Breaking Bad
Men of a certain age
To name a few.  Go on, watch some TV this weekend!

Oh I forgot a couple:

Love/hate
Magic City

Community had a couple of great seasons but went downhill big time in s3. Too much focus on abed. Its gone to **** altogether now. Probably wont last past the next 12 episodes

I thought Community had a poor 3/4 episodes in Season 3 all right at the start. The rest after that are quality however.

Carnivale

Now that sounds promising. :)

I have this ready and waiting for when we get through all the other shows currently watching.

Very much looking forward to it. Sounds good.

Considering the show is mostly ad-libbed, I'd say that it's pretty bloody exceptional.

That show seems to be like marmite for people. Much like this classic comedy 'garth marenghi's darkplace', also 'dr terribles house of horrible'. Very good considering.

If you're looking for a bit of comedy, you could always go for some good ol' Fast Show. One of the best sketch-shows ever made, if not the best.

Do you like anything?

GodfatherJol

Page 7 and nobody mentioned Luther? Brilliant show, and Idris Elba is as awesome as ever. Probably a good time to get into it too, series 3 is on the way in the next few months and there's plans for a movie too!

If you want comedy - find Father Ted. Surreal comedy at its best - "these cows are small, but those are far away" remains my favourite comedy line ever.

If watching just one episode as a taster then go for Speed.

spikey norman

prefer the oldies like cheers, mash, taxi, happy days and frasier ( i's sure there are others that i liked but memeory fails me at the moment)
i think frasier ran for approx 260 episodes - not sure which was the longest running series ever
also brilliant fawlty towers, black adder and father ted
of the newer stuff i do like the in-betweeners

cottage cheese

peep show is a classic. New series not so much.

Anyone that saw black books on channel 4 with dylan moran a good few years ago was very funny (most of the scenes between bil bailey and moran were ad-libbed which makes it even more great to watch)
