Apparently we're on the trail of Rob Elliot - who would now be 3rd choice 'keeper at Newcastle. Originally transferred there from Charlton.
I'm still perplexed by Richard Lee's role at Fulham ~ goalkeeping coach?

Fulham want Newcastle United understudy goalkeeper Rob Elliot

Newcastle United's Rob Elliot in action against West Ham

Fulham are eyeing a move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot.

Sources in the capital say that Elliot is keen on a return to London and Craven Cottage could be a destination. Elliot still has another year left on his contract at St James' Park but he is facing the prospect of being third choice at Newcastle next season – even if he is fully fit.

Elliot has made just five appearances for Newcastle this term and has suffered injury problems. And should United manage to keep hold of Tim Krul it will be the Dutchman and Karl Darlow - who starts training with the Magpies in July after a move from Nottingham Forest - who will do battle for the gloves next term.

Of course, Krul will start the season as first choice but the addition of some quality competition for the gloves could benefit the Dutch international.

Elliot joined Newcastle from Charlton Athletic and has made just 22 appearances in four years.

United will be unlikely to stand in Elliot's way if he wants to go with Freddie Woodman and Paul Woolston both England youth internationals and impressing in the reserve and youth ranks this term.

Papers say £7mill (€10m), given that I can't see him ever wanting to play for us again (not sure he ever did want to), if true that would be a decent result for us. Of course it could all be a ploy to get Olympiacos to make a decent bid rather than try to get him for next to nothing but only a cynic of the transfer system (and the way in which football conducts itself) might think that. His injury history suggests that another long term lay-off is always just around the corner and it would be nice to close the door on this particular saga early in the window so that we know where we stand.

Just noticed the reference about Fenerbahce being interested in a swop deal, doesn't seem a likely deal for us and I'm not sure how many Greeks go and play in the Turkish league but at least it all adds to the interest.

WORTHINGFULHAM

All these rumours depends on who is in charge come august and how much of a war chest they have been given, but still I love the rumours and the paper talk

westcliff white

we cannot afford to wait till August before we make our moves.

Totally agree,  act sooner rather than later in whatever we are doing but we do like to drag things out and leave it late

Two Ton Ted

To be fair, our season only ended 5 days ago, plenty others are still playing.
Never ever bloody anything ever.

Agree TTT, just saying we cannot leave our actions to late in the window

I rate him, after Bristol played West Ham in the cup I did think he may be worth a bid at the right price. On a free he is a steal.

Monitoring means we have him wired up to a heart machine which is just the start of the famous Fulham medical. It will probably finish on the last day of the transfer window if they hurry.
