Exclusive: Slavisa Jokanovic tells Fulham to back him or sack him amid furious transfer row

A furious Slavisa Jokanovic has claimed it could be a 'good option' to sack him in an extraordinary tirade after a disagreement regarding the strength of the Fulham squad.

The head coach wanted three new signings to bolster his side as they hunt for a Play-off place, but revealed in his press conference ahead of the side's FA Cup tie against Southampton that the recruitment team think the team is strong enough to achieve that goal.

He went on to express his disappointment at the club's stance on transfers this January with the Whites having no clear targets in the transfer window, with Fulham's view on things being that they have no intention to sell any of their players, including Ryan Sessegnon, and will look to improve the squad if the right options becomes available to them.

Despite hoping the recruitment department will change their opinion on the strength of the squad, Jokanovic issued an explosive solution to the problem - sacking the coach.

Speaking to GetWestLondon, he said: "No, this January I am really disappointed with the information around us.

"We don't have any clear targets and for the direction of the club, I have some information that we are strong enough to fight for the important targets.

"I don't believe this - at the end there are so many assistants and so many things, I am really disappointed with our situation and I expect the club will change their opinion.

"I don't know, if we don't have the money or don't want to spend the money, but we are not competitive enough for this period what is in front of us.

"Solution? I don't know, but probably if the coach doesn't trust that we are strong enough (but they feel we are), then probably an option that the club must be thinking about is sacking the coach and this can be a good option for the club."

Says that there is no targets we are looking at and if the club think the squad is competitive enough then they should sack him. Extraordinary end to the press conference as he was clearly fuming.
Take it you got this from Twitter or one of the Fulham message boards, or is this news first hand and you were at the press conference, if so please accept my apologies and give us all the details of the press conference.
I really don't believe this rumour, if it was true it would be on BBC sports and Sky Sports news.

It was someone on twitter who hasn't posted in six months, and not ob Fulham at all as I can see until now. Doesn't make sense, Shad Khan has pbicalyl said the club will be active, and Joka said the same a few weeks ago  - didn't he say there were targets? Sounds like  a pot stirrer to me.

The FST must have a meeting next week, an opportunity for them to ask " WTF is going on, and do the Board plan to back Jokanovic during this transfer window"

MikeW

The recruitment team?  This will be Tony Khan, the two (anonymous) Talbots and the latest lap top guru I assume?  Be worried, very worried.

Notes from FST meeting in December:

AM confirmed that recruitment is well under way for the January window, led by Director of Football Tony Khan and his interim assistant James Lovwell in consultation with head coach Slavisa Jokanovic who, as his recent programme notes detailed, has already identified a number of potential signings who could immediately strengthen the first-team squad.

AM reiterated that Club would have significant funds with which to support the head coach during the January transfer window and that the Club's recruitment policy would remain the same as had been outlined during the Trust's November meeting.

What is going on with Joka?

BedsFFC

Guys, ok, its not good but lets give the club a chance to speak. They told the FST that there were significant funds available. Give them a chance to respond before we all start steaming into the owners.

That said, if it is true...it stinks.

Meh, passion from a coach and calculated risks by the club - what do you expect? Think it will work out in the end.

Ordar

Absolutely sick of hearing this crap from Jokanovic every single transfer window. If he's not happy, then he knows where the door is.

grandad

I can see Slavisa walking very soon & I wouldn´t blame him.

Bored stiff with this EVERY TRANSFER WINDOW. We all know that we needed a stronger spine to the side at the end of the season. We had no improvement at the back and additions up front have been iffy at best. We do still need at least two if not the three that the coach has called for. Now as much as I am sick to death of this argument every blimmin transfer window. Joka is quite right. Sack him or bring in the three players he wants. Although I seem to remember our Coach stating that the players WOULD be brought in early in the window. That statement now turns out to be a bargaining tool with the club that has failed.

Either we hear from the club and the coach is sacked or we hear that there has been a problem with communication and the club are bringing in the players that are needed. But please, for goodness sake sort it out. It is embarrassing THE HAVE THIS ARGUMENT BETWEEN COACH AND CLUB EVERY TRANSFER WINDOW.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope
