I got the feeling Ranieri didn't play McDonald and Johansen in FA Cup, because he was preparing to play Chambers and Cisse this game. It seems he is interested in moving Chambers to defense.

I was thinking, especially as Cahill and Chambers maybe the best CB pairing.

A pairing of Cahill and Chambers would very slow. The benefit of playing Odoi there is that he's quick. If we play those two one of the full backs would need to cover as well or have a def mid play as a half back and effectively drop into defence when defending.
