Hi all

Having realised to my disgust the Offal MB has bene shut down I find myself here. Me 37, grew up in Fulham having been born in Hammersmith. Went to Muster School and now live in Surrey. I run my own business. I honestly can't remember my first Fulham game but was taken by my uncle and grew up with the team of the early 80's when we so nearly made it to Division 1. Houghton, Lewington, O'Driscoll, Locke, Strong, Brown and of course Ivor were the mainstays of the team then. I have briefly flirted with glory hunting but returned to my roots soon enough and well have been here ever since. It is funny I found this thread as I was thinking my first message should be a post along these lines. Top idea. I used to post on the Offal board under this moniker a long time ago but increasingly found it difficult to engage with intelligent people as they seemed to be in the minority. Do any people from this board meet up for games as work committments have kept me away from a season ticket for some time but I would like to meet a Fulham crowd for games. COYW

Wow! Lots of new people have joined up!! Yeah, loads of us meet on a regular basis. For the most part, people drink in The Low Country on Fulham High Street. That's where you'll probably find LBNo11, Mr Ska, Chez, Admin and a whole load of others. I'm usually in The Brick with the real ale drinkers, even though I don't have a season ticket this season.

Hello guys,

I´ve been a reader of the page for a few years now and have finally decided to join. I thought it would be good to speak to some other Fulham fans and maybe increase my fledgling twitter base.

I guess I should introduce myself a little. Born in East Sussex, lived in Pimlico, now off to east London for a new job. Why am I a Fulham fan? Dad and three uncles were born in Ringmer Avenue, were two still live. Season ticket holder since I was 10 and my first match was Fulham vs Brighton in 1994-95. Think it was the league cup! Favourite game was Hamburg in the Semi´s, Favourite goal was Harley against Villa and Favourite player is Hangeland.

Looking forward to chatting about all things Fulham

Chris

Hello,

I am Zoran (30) from Bulgaria (but living in London).

Another Bulgarian joining the forum after Berbatov signed for FFC ;) As you can guess,
I rate him higly as a player (and person) and hope he will be a success here.
Btw, I have played a few games agains him but that was at academy level. Stopped playing football long time ago, now I am just discussing ;)

TBH, I am not die-hard FFC fan but have a soft spot for the team.

I read a few threads on this forum and would be glad to have some discussions with you.
Maybe even meet some of you at CC.

Zoran

Hello all.

I've read FoF for a couple of years now and have finally decided to join and participate.  The "Hello I must be going" thread which followed the closing of the transfer window made me realize that, although I followed Fulham at first to support the Americans on the squad, I now support Fulham no matter who's on the squad!

I'm almost 50 and have only followed football for a little over ten years.  I wish I had discovered it earlier.  I imagine its easy to take quality football for granted in England, where it seems there's a club every few miles.  Many here in LA think Beckham invented the game.  MLS is improving, though.  Its a relative thing, i know.

My wife (German parents) pulls for Bayern Munchen and my sons (8 and 11) support Spurs and various favorites.

I've learned plenty from reading FoF and hope to be contribute something to the community.  I very much appreciate the civil and reasonable tone of the website.  Good job mods!  Tough to manage given the emotional nature of sport.

Thanks and cheers,

Roland

Hi all!  I'm Josh, and though I've had an account here for a couple of years, I've only rarely visited; I've been a regular reader/poster on TIFF (where I go by "New Yorker") for a while now, but lately I've been turned off by that site's combination of lax moderation, hostility, and fabricated-rumor-mongering (today's made-up story about a fire at the Golden Lion, for example) that you get at forums with no user registration, so I figured I'd give a look here instead, and this seemed to be a good place to start.

Like a lot of Yanks who support Fulham (and like RolandAJ said just a week ago), I've enjoyed soccer (sorry, must remember to say "football") since the 1994 World Cup and the start of MLS, found myself wanting to start watching the Premier League, couldn't bring myself to be the kind of frontrunner who supports Manchester United or Liverpool or Arsenal or Chelsea from afar, and got started watching Fulham because of Lewis and McBride and Boca and Dempsey.  I took my first trip to London and the Cottage six years (and, what, about four managers?) ago, and was hooked.  I've only been able to get back one other time since (if someone would just tell the club's management that Fulham are undefeated in matches I've attended, I'm sure they'd pay for my plane tickets a couple of times a year), but I've found myself part of a growing group of NYC-based Fulham supporters and that's enabled me to stay mentally involved even despite the physical distance.

Also, despite the recent departure of the last of the Yanks in the squad, I'm still here.  (And I think the Brits who are expecting a mass exodus of American Fulham support now that Dempsey is gone will be pleasantly surprised at how many of us aren't going anywhere.)  My latest challenge has been convincing my fiancee to make the trip out to the bar for matches at 10am (and fending off the mocker of her brother, who's a Spurs supporter), but I'm doing at least an OK job of it thus far.

Gers

Hello all,

Thought I'd join up after lurking for quite a while. I'm Scottish, stay just outside Glasgow and support Rangers although been following Fulham for a while now, since back in the day when van der Sar signed. I was a keeper back then so he was a legend to me. Couldn't help but fall in love with the team back then and been hooked ever since.

Got to admit, never been to a game although really hoping to change that soon and don't know anywhere near as much as most of you proper fans will but hopefully being here will keep me more up to date. Don't even get to watch every game due to some clashing with the Rangers games and I'm afraid they'll always come out on top but hopefully I'll be able to fill in what I've missed on here.

Count Berbatov

#168
dbfHello everyone. A Man United supporter here, living in Chicago. A big fan of our...well yours now, Dimitar Berbatov. I envy you for having him in your team. Wishing him all the best and good luck to you. You have many supporters here in the states, because of your American connection in the past. Plus you play a good attacking football... So good luck and hope you do better than just finish in the top half of the table. Hope your away form improves too and hope with Berba starts a new era for you guys.
Berbatov has Cantona's knack of being the man amid a stampede towards the door who stops to notice a side exit that nobody else has seen.

Jonathan Northcroft on Berbatov:  "...like a man in silk pyjamas shooting pigeons from a deckchair"

daib0

Hello everyone, I'm daib0 (real name David) and here 100% 'in peace' on behalf of Reading's "Royals Rendezvous" forum. I realize, of course, that this is a specialist Fulham forum, and no wind-ups at all from us. In fact we already had excellent relations with forums from most teams in the Championship, but now we've moved up a gear after an almost unlikely promotion (at least if you saw our placing last season before Christmas!), and we are enjoying (though with a fair bit of trepidation) at rubbing shoulders with the 'big boys' – I don't think we're an arrogant lot by nature at all, in fact many of us still feel little 'ol Reading from the old 3rd and 4th division days!

I hope that I may contribute occasionally on here with sensible comments, especially when we have common themes – like for our forthcoming games together, or player transfers/loans or gossip between the two clubs, and always with respect shown, that's a promise. I won't go wading in with 'Fulham' opinions on the things you obviously know far better about. Anyway, I'm a moderator on RR [can I give a quick link?! – http://www.royalsrendezvous.co.uk ] since its birth, so will be the last person to cause any bother. And of course ... do please count on us for the Reading view on things whenever you need it ...

Cheers,

daib0 (David)

Nice to meet you all cottagers, I am Luis from Brazil and I am one of a very few Fulham fans in my country. I've been supporting the Whites for years, however I became addicted something around 5 years ago. It's been very difficult to obtain Fulham shirts as they do not exist in Brazil, but I've been seeking troughout ebay for many years and I have a considerable collection of about 20 shirts and many shorts and other memorabilias. I have a dream to go to London someday in a near future and visit the magnificent Craven Cottage before the Riverside stand reconstruction, and live the atmosphere I have sometimes seen on television and many times seen via streaming. I also hope I can meet some of you guys so that you can show me all of is to be seen before, during and after the match.
Nice to meet all of you and sorry for the English mistakes

Hey,
My name is Ivo, Bulgarian, 30 y.o., I am in the Marketing field and I am a huge fan of Berbatov and now also of Fulham FC. Interestingly enough, I will most certainly remain a fan of Fulham when Berbatov leaves/retires. Love the squad, love the way the team plays, love MJ's decisions so far, love the fans (Liz Hurley, Pierce Brosnan and Hugh Grant included... lol), love the website of Fulham, pretty much everything.
Now, my biggest issue is that there are as much as 7 days between the matches, provided there are no international duty breaks. How the hell do you deal with that?! ;)

P.S. Oh, and excuse my English (valid for all my posts)

Flummer23

Hi.  I live in Winnipeg in the centre of Canada.  I have only been a Fulham supporter since 2002.  I've spent my entire life, like most Canadians, as a hockey fan (sorry, can't bring myself to call it 'ice hockey') but discovered English footie on tv in the early 2000s.  It's strange that I never connected with the sport earlier as my parents were English immigrants from south London and my father was a bigtime Wimbledon fan.  Anyway, I started watching and through some weird process I gravitated toward Fulham.  Then on a business trip to England in 2002 I discovered that an uncle of mine over there (who I hadn't seen for more than 25 years) was a lifelong Fulham supporter and he took me to my first game (New Year's Day 2005 v. Crystal Palace - we won 3-1 I think).  That sealed the deal.  Since then I've been to England many times for business and taken in as many matches at the Cottage as I could manage.  I'd like to go on a road game sometime.  Not sure when I'll next be over there, but I'm now a deeply devoted FFC fan!
