Remember the Glory, Double winning days under Bill Nicholson.
When they came to the Cottage in 1961 you couldn't move on the packed terraces - I wasn't able to get past the Putney End to my usual position on the Riverside terracing  half- way line. I   just got stuck in the packed crowd of over 38,000.

I can remember little, if anything else, about the game  though apart from that - but I think it was 0-0.

Since those days Spurs have always flattered to achieve, and generally been in the shadow of bitter rivals Arsenal.

Poch has been a popular manager, but hasn't actually won anything, but seems frustrated by lack of investment,  though imagine if Fulham had those players.

Which brings me to mourinho. The man wins stuff yeah, but with the ability to spend a hell of a lot of money. Will be interesting to see how he fares with tightarse levy. But then again, if levy opens his cheque book for Jose but didn't for poch, it would seem really harsh.
Everything is difficult before it's easy!

Good news for Sess, Jose Mourinho watched him a lot at CC as a visitor and knows what he can do. Another manager maybe from abroad would not know him really.

Happened Quickly, so obviously been set up already.
Thought they might have given Eddie Howe a bash at the big time...Still jobs for the boys as usual.
Hope he falls flat on his face.

Such a boring, predictable appointment. Mourinho doesn't deserve the job after such a failure at Man Utd.

Still, he could thrive there as there's less pressure than he's used to. He will play up their underdog status.

Yeah because Mourinho has such a good record with youngsters recently. He may at least coach him on the defensive side.

Sess is a hard worker which Jose likes and as i said he knows him and I think he will be fine.

He won't be out of a job for long, wouldn't be surprised if he took over at the club that stuffed them 7-2 not so long ago.

Agree Ryan must be gutted

Agree with this. If he doesn't get that job, he'll wait for Zidane to be sacked at Real.

Overrated, over hyped some on here say ? The guy took an un-fancied team to a Champions League Final. He may not have won anything but under his stewardship Spurs have been transformed into contenders. Bizarre decision which I think they'll regret, particularly if they go for Mourinho.

Unfancied team, the squad of players he's had under him, plenty of managers would have done the same and got them in top 4,imo.
Like I said 10 years in top flight football, won nothing.
Could easily prove me wrong in future, nearly always the case.

Would they though? I somehow doubt it. Not only did he do well with the squad but he improved every player and England have benefited. That being said results have dipped ever since he started getting itchy feet last season, so it was inevitable he'd leave soon.

Won 11 and lost 12 in 2019 in the league, not the record of a team that needs to be at the top. Can see why they sacked him.

In more breaking news a man who has temporarily lost his specs drives to Suffolk and burns down a shed. In a statement to police he said he could'nt make out what the emoji was but the message broke him. The judges concurred. 🎉

As always in football it'll either get better with Mourinho or it'll stay the same or get worse.  Is this just another case of a heartless, soulless club looking for a scapegoat when the real problem is in the boardroom?  We shall see.

Mike the White

What I find interesting is, Jose loves spending big bucks on established players. Levy is a real tight arse (as we found out). Watch this space!

Was Mourinho REALLY a failure at Man U though?
144 games. He won 84 of those matches, drew 32 and lost 28 - overall that gives him a relatively healthy win percentage of 58.3 percent.
Based on the relative car crash that club has been subsequently I don't think he did badly there at all in context of the situation - he got them to 2nd, they'll not be close to 2nd for some time. I agree his limitations as a manager seem constrained by ££ and he doesn't seem to favour giving youngsters a chance but don't think we can quantify him as a failure.

charlieFFC

I think this will work out well for Sess.

FFC1987

Hmm I'm surprised people think this will work out better for Sess to be honest. Mourinho had much better youth prospects (no offence to Ryan) but isolated them and if anything, set them backwards. I don't think Ryan is a Mourinho type player either. Not combative or pacey enough really. Be interesting to see how it turns out but I'm sceptical.

filham

Shocked, Mourinho and Spurs, who would have predicted that. It just doesn't fit somehow.

Carborundum

If the underlying problem is players not really wanting to play for the club, then we can expect Mourinho's arrival to lead to some interesting times, at least off the pitch.  Expect that he's going to ostracise one or two, so better to encourage waverers.

Will Sessegnon benefit?  Probably not.  Think back to how good Spurs were in the FA Cup against us two seasons ago.  That's how good Mourinho needs to get them.  Is Sess able to play at that level?  For all his qualities, seems doubtful.  He might get some early run outs, but long term I'd expect Mourinho to prefer someone more bruising.
