I don´t want us to go all defensive & play for a 0-0.

                                       Rodak

   Christie              Hector                Ream        Bryan

                       Reed                          Johansen

    Kebano                           Onomah                Reid

                                      Mitro

Bench- Betts, Arter, Mawson, Sessegnon, Cairney, AK 47, McDonald, Odoi, Le Marchand

I expect a physical & scrappy battle similar to our recent encounter away to Forest. It wouldn't bother me to be setup defensively first-and-foremost with a view to making attacking substitutions later in the game.

That would leave Kamara, Reid, Cairney & Knockaert (+ possibly Cavaleiro) to either change the game in our favour or pick Cardiff off if they're in search of an equaliser. These players would then be fresher for the home leg.

I think you're right.
In a game we had to win, he was very negative in his passing, mostly backwards or sideways.
No killer ball in the whole game.
I can't believe that our manager would try to stifle our most creative player.
Consequently, yes I would leave him out if he's not in the right mindset
VERY DAFT AND A LOT DAFTER THAN I SEEM, SOMETIMES

Cairney is a great player on his day, but I haven't seen much from him lately. When he's in the final third he's good for us, but when he collects the ball in our half from defense, he has no urgency to get the ball forward. We need that!

Forget Cairney,,he's not good enough..

When Parker coached Seri he went from one of the highest "key passers (i.e. pass that lead to shots)" in Europe, to a guy that only passed sideways or backwards slowing the game down. Now, Parker has transformed Cairney.

His role is to maintain possession. We made so many mistakes last season in not maintaining possession in our own areas - and most of the time it led to big mistakes. Our system is designed to move defending players out of position, so a pass backwards to our defenders, or a withdrawn CM, will allow that build up to start. Arter does it, Onomah does it, even Reed does it. If we want Cairney to dribble at speed straight ahead, or send a driven pass to Mitro's feet, we risk the chance of being countered - which many teams have exploited in our game this year.

To me, he needs to be played higher up like he was in the second half v Wigan. I counted 2 total back-passes from him after the change. I liked his role vs QPR away as well where he had much more freedom to get forward and influence the attacking third.

Statistically are four best penalty takers are:
Mitro, Reid, Kamara, and Cav.

We need to finish with Mitro, Kamara, Reid, and Cav at the end of the playoff.
Kamara, Reid, and Cav should not play 120 minutes, so they should be subs.

For the second leg:
Front Three should start as Knockaert, Mitro, and Kebano.
Front Four should end as Kamara, Mitro, Reid, and Cav.

If you prefer one of the later players make the sub early (e.g. Kamara on for Knockaert at 35 minutes).

This leaves the only selection decisions to be #2 (one of Christie or Odoi) on the form i think Christie, #8/#10 (two of Arter, Stefjo, Cairney, Onamah, or Reid), but these positions are likely to be rotated through the game.
Start  Reed, Arter and Onamah
End: Reed, Cairney and Reid

abfg

Absolutely stunned so many are putting Onomah ahead of Cairney. Cairney wasn't great last night, but Onomah gave the ball away nearly every time he had it. For me:
Rodak
Christie, Hector, Ream, Odoi
Reed
StefJo, Cairney
DCR, Mitro, Kebano

Ak would have DCR's place if fit enough.

Facts Not Fiction

Cairney is an Fulham legend, and I will forever praise the time he's had at the club. But under Parker, he just doesn't fit the system. Our 3 midfielders have to be "leggy" and work their socks off. That just isn't his remit unfortunately.

If Parker keeps his job next season, I fear the end could be nigh for him.

What's happened to Cavaleiro? Is he injured or has he been dropped?

The priority will be bringing home a clean sheet  so start thinking of Odoi in place of Bryan , Cairney on the bench and Knoch in the team because of his work rate.

                                                                  Rodak
                                Christie           Hector               Ream             Odoi

                                                                   Reed
                                               Onomah                          Arter
                                Knock                          Mitro                          Kebano

Fresh legs Subs        Stefjo for Arter, Kamara for Knock.

Reid, Cairney and Bryan on the bench but held back for 2nd leg at the Cottage.

Came to post my team which is identical to yours. So ta!

Agree with the subs as well, though I'd also bring on Cairney around 60/70 a. to help keep possession (if ahead or drawing) or to help attack if behind, and Reid for either Kebano or Knockaert depending on performance/fatigue, regardless of score, as him buzzing around up top will cause issues and could pinch/assist a goal.
