RAY Rock

I have seen the you tube clips of Semih Kılıçsoy he looks very raw and in my opinion he is a poor man's Mannor Solomon

And there was me thinking that if an 18 year old didn't look like Messi they were a no hoper and might as well give it up already

Thought manor had top class but his injury issues really screwed him now. Cooled after a purple patch but think he had plenty talent to adapt if he'd stayed fit.

Semih looks much broader stronger and more powerful to me than manor who was very slight. He's also more a CF than a winger albiet he can play both. Someone said they remind him of Ross McCormack which seemed pretty accurate albeit he may have more in his tank than that, seemingly doing very well at a young age at Besiktas

Nothing like him, much stronger, can't imagine Solomon playing through the middle.

Never saw the hype with Solomon myself, despite being told I was wrong. I might still be of course but I would guess that he is probably done for now anyway.

Well, he has played champs league level and did very well there before joining us, and was signed by a bigger club after us.

But now alas for him I think he'll never reach his full potential after some serious injuries, miniscus is a tough one for him given so much of his game was his quick turns of pace and dynamic movement which could well be impaired going forwards ,well probably never know what he could have been without those things happening. 24 still so perhaps he can turn it around but tough with that specific injury list

Sorry, but can't let this one go.
Brentford had a little purple patch of decent transfers mainly prior to getting into the Premier League.
Now we see things like Canos, bought for £9m sold for £250k
We see multiple arrivals each year, multiple departures (way more than most clubs).

Not to mention the £68m spent last summer on prolific Kevin Schade (2 goals in 32), Nathan Collins and their decidedly dodgy keeper. Just as comparison, for the same £68m we got Iwobi, Bassey, Castagne, Jiminez, Benda and Traore. If that's miles ahead?!?!?!?!

No idea if he's close to breaking into the first team or if the club see him as a long term fit, but if not we could swap him for FBT as that'll be one of those quirky FFP deals and means we get a left back sorted with no expenditure?

In fairness they have generally been pretty good, not dissimilar to us. They picked up Raya, Watkins, Benrahma and Toney for minimal cost and have/will make a huge profit. Unlike us they recognized Toney was leaving and have replaced him already.

Again, try looking at a longer period of time than just one or two seasons.

But sure, feel free to argue against all the class signings Brentdord has made (I even lined them up for you) and let us know which Fulham signings are just as good for the same amount of money and how much they be brought to the their side in comparisons on how much they e spent. Just because they havent been as successful in recent years doesnt mean we are just as good or that theyre bad.

All clubs have hits and misses in transfers. Clearly Brentford has been trying to take it to the next level by spending more money and still trying to be smart, and that hasnt worked as well as before.

Can we make a different thread to cry about Brentford's alleged good signings (£40m combined on Nathan Collins and Keane Lewis Potter btw)

Sorry, but you said that Brentford are miles ahead of us in transfers. There was no 'they were really good a few years ago, now they're not', just that statement. Which isn't true.
You ask about players that have been as good for the same money-
Mitro- trebled in value to £50m
Palhinha- trebled in value to circa £50m
Ream- £1.7m 10 years ago, possible the best value player you'll find in our squad.
Unless you add Robinson- £1.8m now worth who knows, £25-£30m?
Kenny Tete- £3.2m- now listed £10m+
Periera- at least doubled his value

This isnt to mention Muniz, Leno, Traore, Cairney and a good few others.

Agreed!

I'm all for discussing transfers more broadly in the round, but this tangent has gone on for pages and isn't even Fulham related, let alone current-transfer related...

Any comment that is not showering in praise of a current FFC employee is (increasingly) subject to being told you are wrong on this board IMO

Quote from: Angus Telford on July 10, 2024, 04:33:48 PMIMO in terms of how well run our clubs have been in recent years:

Brentford 2017-21 > Fulham 2017-21

Brentford 2017-21 > Fulham 2021-24

Brentford 2021-24 = Fulham 2021-24

Not sure that middle one is right, is it?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a rumour with some substance.

We are all going to die one day and none of us and none of this will mean anything to anybody.

Hope this will do.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope
