Quote from: FFC1987 on July 08, 2024, 05:18:46 PMOn the ESR injury front, I don't think looking at last season is a metric of 'his injuries are perhaps exaggerated'. The kids had a harsh run of injuries, some more serious than others, but last year found himself on the right side of it, but you could argue, and I think I would, that's definitely been helped by not that many competitive minutes. I'd be less alarmed if he played regularly last year and the injury wouldn't be a question mark.....but alas, it is.

I agree with Jay though, if he was playing regularly to the level previously attained, we'd not be in with a sniff for him. I'm definitely in the boat that he's the sort of gamble worth taking though.......

Well worth a shot indeed. I know TK once mentioned he was a bit more cautious around signing players with injury histories these days given it hadn't worked out with a couple of gambles we took earlier in his tenure, ( I assume Kongolo, Mawson? any others?) but this one is one you have to pull the trigger on for me in case it works out because the upside potential is so big.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens.

Meanwhile I see Bollo toure is being told if he doesn't find a move at Milan he'll be working with the reserves...
Fine, We'll take him off ya hands then for 1.5m Milan seeing as he's not part of ya plans! poor sod, think he's had an unfortunate run of it. Don't think he'd want to be second fiddle though, surely there's a club where he can get game time out there!

Agree re Ballo Toure, I know we didn't see too much of him, but the little we did see quite impressed me.

At that price it's a no brainer for a good backup LB which we probably do need this window. His transfer value on Transfermarkt for what that's worth is 3m euros,  but again, I'd question if he'd want the move and seemingly we haven't been fussed yet about signing him which I find suprising.

Yes, perhaps Marco knows something about him that we don't.

Off the field he might be a twit. it's a team game he might  not shall we say join in.I'm surprised that people on here are praising our man in tights the only bargains we have made price wise was ream, cairney and macdonald 2m and less per person which was under kit and the other Dof.Silva will make a profit on dmidfielder and perhaps our Belgium/brazillian we won't make a profit on anyone else at the moment, just remember wilson cost 11 mil he is probably worth 3 mil our man in tights offer nothing I bet Crystal palaceAnd Brentford and brighton laugh at us if it wasn't for silva we would have no assets how you can talk about our Dof as he is our friend what great man he is just a small ineffective boy with a rich father they don't like in wrestling he offers nothing to our cause if is dad took I'll our boy would sell us.

Thatd be, brentford that finished 3 positions below us last year.

Yeh no bargain good transfers

Other than ya know

Leno
Tete
Tosin
Robinson (worth what 15-20x what we bought him for now if we chose to sell?)

Willian on a free
Traore on a free

Periera worth perhaps double what we paid for him.

Pretty much all of those worth more than we bought them for (if they signed their contracts unlike Tosin)

Even Bassey probably worth more now.

Reed has given us our moneys worth, castagne great, bollo toure did a fine job on loan.
Iwobi more expensive but has been a very good signing already

On top of this, its not just about profit alone but signing players who can contribute, but these players led us to back to back mid table finishes and a cup semi final booking extra cash for doing so.

This constant issue with T. Khan for no reason other than the weird connection with wresting!

Also, an obsession with age!

Blimey Mick, we ain't done bad over the reign of the Khans!
Please, please, don't go over the over spend errors - they have learnt on the job and improved drastically.

You're not my Pa are you? He introduced me to the Whites when I was about 6 and is a devoted supporter. Alas, as he got older he became really pessimistic and moan about everything the club does! So much so, that my brother and I try to keep him the subject these days!

Cheer up mate and believe - we are only gonna get better!

Speaking of Brentford, they just let Strakosha go on a free transfer with 2 years left on his contract. Remember when people were saying he'd be a better signing than Leno.

Can't say that Brentford have done all that well with signings since they got promoted.

Leno, Tete, Tosin and Robinson's initial transfer fees were all lower than what we paid Blackburn for Cairney and they've all performed superbly in the PL, a fact you seem to conveniently omit in your quest to shoehorn your weird hatred about our owners

Was anyone really saying that? Leno wasn't a concrete option at the time we were linked to Strakosha, it was more a question of whether he would be better than Rodak (although I think we can safely conclude at this point that the answer to that particular question is no).

I'm amazed Toney hasn't been linked with a bigger club move yet. Like to us.

The Turkish lad looks good from highlight reels at least. Should make mickthebeard happy to sign an 18 year old if nothing else.

Looks like a smaller Stansfield with a bit more dribbling ability.

Obligatory highlight reel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLUfkU6de3s

Seems powerful direct with good feet and a solid strike on him for such a young age.

Linked to Man City, Arsenal and Dortmund previously I see. One to keep an eye on perhaps.

Leno was slated towards the end by a lot of Arsenal supporters and Strakosha was considered to be better on the ball. People were very concerned about how well Leno would do with the ball at his feet at the time. Wasn't a majority opinion but I saw it pop up as an example of why we do worse business than Brentford.

I'm fairly sure that we have a partnership with Besiktas as well so if we do start buying their talented younger players it wouldn't overly surprise me

We do? Can you find a source for that I'd be interested to read as wasn't aware. Had a search on chatgpt and couldn't find anything there either.

We've signed Babel and Fabri from them and they've been linked with Tete but I can't recall ant sort of "partner club" type set up or anything so intrigued to hear where ya heard that.

This kid reminds me of Ross McCormack by his built.

I can't find reference to it anywhere but I'm 99% sure it was them or one of the big Turkish teams we were looking to partner with.

Seems to be a reputable source and their fans seem outraged at the price being as "low" as 20m euros. Seemingly he's quite the "wonderkid" over there.

Fingers crossed we can get something done at a good price if he's really as talented as they think, perhaps we'd see Jiminez moved on if this came off although that would be a very young striker selection.
