The Cottagers also intend to strengthen at centre-back, where manager Marco Silva wants at least two new signings after losing Tosin Adarabioyo to Chelsea as a free agent. There is interest in Luton's Teden Mengi, an England Under-21 international.

Said you'd know best so potentially we have missed out on a good deal then but doesn't sound like we tried much so maybe the club/Marco just didn't see it that way.  I suppose it is what Marco thinks and by all accounts he seems to rate Chalobah so maybe he sees him as an upgrade. To be fair I don't think there is much between Tosin, Diop or Chalobah. They all have good strengths but also bad weaknesses but all decent players.  Doubt we'll get Chalobah anyway as doesn't seem at all interested in coming so hope they have a good plan B! Sure they will of course.
Agree that Chalobah deal seems unlikely, and I think it's for the best because the asking price that is quoted in the media isn't justifiable. I'm sure there are people who rate Diop higher than Chalobah and vice versa, but I'm also sure everyone can agree that he certainly isn't big enough of an upgrade(I think he's actually worse than Diop) to warrant us spending huge amounts of money for him. We should either find some cheaper alternative or someone who's significantly better than Diop. But we need a rcb asap.

If we manage to keep Willian, we realisticaly only need 4 players:rcb, backup lb(FBT?) LW/AM(ESR?) and a midfielder who can play as a 6/8(Andre?). Anything we get on top of that would be a bonus.

Am I right? Says we're enquiring about him at the personal request of Marco, rather than anything more concrete

Notice: Fulham have enquired for the conditions of transfer for Colombian MF, Palerias player, Richard Rios (24), at the asking of Marco Silva. The club has a price tag of 18m for his exit.

Everton reportedly showing interest as well

Quote from: @jolslover on July 18, 2024, 04:13:56 PMAndre would be a class signing. Concrete interest from Liverpool and he is a regular for the Brazil national team. For a lower-mid table prem side to sign someone who is already a Brazil national is a huge coup!

The Brazilian NT isn't exactly on a high right now. Their current central midfield play in midtable English clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle, West Ham, Wolves and Fulham, not Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Think he'd be a great signing mind you.

Think that's just a reflection of the money and quality in the PL these days. Newcastle are one of the richest clubs in the world.

Villa are also a Champions' League team now, not mid-table.

If it wasn't for Barcelona's academy, they'd be bottom half PL level at best.

I love a moan but even I am highly enthused by the Andre signing.

Haha appreciate the self awareness  :slap:

Agree it's an insanely competitive league. As ever any transfer is a gamble to some degree, but I do think Andre has so many attributes to succeed and still so young, so get everyone's excitement. The more I watch of him the more I actually think it's clear he really does play very deep in front of the back 4 and could well work as the deepest DM much like Rodrygo for Man City. He disrupts and intercepts alot so maybe he will indeed be a different type of DM that doesn't necessarily have to have a Joao style enforcer next to him.

Sounds like the up front fee is lower than 25m which includes add ons, so all in all could be a very good deal that has the potential to mean even bigger returns than Palhinha in the future given his age, should he really step up in a similar fashion.

Hopefully doesn't take as long as Muniz to adapt but he's certainly played many more Senior games already than Rodrygo had when he first moved so here's hoping.

Quote from: SerbianLad on July 18, 2024, 12:53:08 PMMilenkovic who we were very briefly linked with(it said in that article that Forest are thr frontrunners) has gone to Forest for 12 million pounds. Would have been a good RCB option in my opinion, especially at that price.

I still think that RCB is our number 1 priority and hopefuly we'll get someone soon.

Andre, ESR, a new RCB and a backup LB(I'd try to get FBT back if he's interested) and I think we'll be okay, providing no one else leaves.
Given how cheap 12 m is nowadays, Id say thats a smart piece of business. Cheaper than our RCB backup

I suppose the trouble is would he be an upgrade on Diop? I think that is what we are looking for. Sure Serbian lad will be way better placed than me to answer that but if he'd be considered a back up not sure that is what the club are looking for. The fact they have been going for Chalobah would suggest they are looking higher. As I say maybe I'm underestimating this fella but he sounded more solid than anything. We also need a really good passer and not sure that is his strength.
I dont know either, not saying that we shouldve signed. Just saying it looks like a decent deal.

However, he was playing regularly at a quite good Fiorentina side who made it to the conference final two years in a row, so saying he probably isnt much of an upgrade to Diop, who struggled at two different clubs for game time, might be ye olde Fulham bias perhaps?

Igor was in that team, was the better player, we didn't sign him, people lost their minds, went to Brighton, is poo.
Igor was better in one season. Milenkovic had 2-3 poor seasons by his standards, but before that he was one of the highest rated young centrebacks. Last year he(Milenkovic) was more or less back to his best and had a strong EURO performance as well.

As for Chalobah being an upgrade on Diop and Milenkovic not, I personally think Milenkovic is miles ahead of Chalobah, who I think is very overrated and extremely injury prone. He looked really promising at the start of his career but has been bang average since. I rate Diop higher than Chalobah.

Diop is stronger than chalobah, think there will be competition in his position arriving but think Fulham will be sorting the midfield then the centre back positions.

 ::cry::

Weve clearly made a reaosnable offer, a club record no less, and theyre arsing about trying to squeeze for more while keeping the player playing games at their club as long as they can. Imagine its happening on a few fronts given people know our financial situation is decent at the moment but frustrating none the less. Our Esr and andre reported offers have hardly been undervalued and insulting offers like bayerns first approach.

We got a fair few acquisitions to make so wont want to get done over on these purchases and hamper our overall ability to improve. Hope its resolved soon.

Why the surprise?.  It's all Brazilian rumours and we have never been interested in Andre.

TBH I would sell him for £35m+, you can replace his output for less than that and it gives us scope to buy another good CM as well

Can I point out the bleeding obvious. It has been all rubbish from the beginning. Once again the agents and press try and make a story and the clubs say nothing and suddenly the story changes from being nearly done to not done at all. Each time the fans seem to get drawn in. Like elections where each time we think this lot will be better but they never are. So once again the rumours and the gossip has all be made up. What a shock and the next time a few will believe it and be shocked when it turns out to be rubbish.

Meanwhile whatever deal is being done will be done and we will know when the clubs want us to know. Not the agents who like politicians are all trying to line their own pockets by telling lies to put the pressure on.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Well said Lighthouse,
It's called the silly season transfer thread for a reason,  it's, SILLY  :slap:
Guy goes into the doctor's.

Yeah but what else have we got to do with our time over summer with no Fulham other than get very excited and obsess about a load of BS?

 :slap:

Could be this guy is spot on or he is as clueless as the rest.

The transfer window is like a horrible scab that despite knowing you shouldn't, you just can't stop picking at.

Well United want Ugarte and have to sell McTominay or Casemiro to do it, so hopefully that speeds up them wanting to sell McTominay for a sensible fee considering they have to sell to buy now
