Quote from: FFC1987 on July 19, 2024, 11:18:07 AMMeh, I used to be more animated about this kind of thing but as always, the need to sign players to be remotely competitive in this league is much less for a squad like ours compared to say, the likes of Ipswich ie newly promoted clubs and struggling relegation fodder sides.

I appreciate the frustration but I guess we just need to get used to the fact that this is the window and not a lot changes that. Fingers crossed for some signings soon.

Yup. It'll be what it is and no amount of me getting irate will change it, so it is what it is, I tend when these things happen to lean on the side of, there's usually a reason for such things beyond just people not being "at their desk"... Given the reports of being in for Scott McTominay and Hojberg, if any truth in those even at all, it's possible we're looking around at the market and seeing whats possible and/or using such negotiations for leverage.
God knows How it will all transpire. We are still in a fortunate position of having a team very capable of getting points, we'd all like people in sooner than later but we'll get some over the line eventually that improve us I'm sure.

Who knows whats really going on, so many of these reports on Andre seem to be counter to each other and then what's been said by the president at Fluminese, so will just wait to see what arrives at this point. Jiminez was the first player in the door last year July 25th and then things began to move. We'll see when it all goes down this year.

In the meantime, I guess Godo/Stansfield/Harris and some other youth will be trying to work their way into contention this year. Frustrating to not have 1 or 2 exciting deals over the line yet, but hey what ya gonna do. Off to enjoy the sun!

I thought it was notable that both Stansfield and Godo featured prominently in the recent training highlights. Both seem to be getting the opportunity in preseason to earn a place. I think the odds are low that either will be a regular in the 20 man match day squads though. Hopefully both will prove me wrong.

Godo did actually look very good in his cameos pre season last year. And then his loan went well too. It might well be he takes over from BDR as a back up/rotation attacking option tbf. He certainly has talent on the ball

Yeah, but he's not under contract to us officially, so I don't get why he's on there. Everyone else who's contract expired- Marek, Francois etc have been removed.

Probably because they've been mutually agreed while Willian is still considering his choices and likely has an offer on the table.

I did read a few weeks back that dialogue with Willian remains. Having said that and I am a very big fan of him it's possibly a tad having your cake and eating where he is concerned. Probably been told contract on table if you don't find something else more suitable? Power with the player even at his age? Have a gut feeling we have not seen the last of him in Fulham shirt?

Funny how people still believe the media regarding transfer news when all FFC fans know that all are deals are pretty much kept out of the need until they happen?

I expect hes just have a long holiday like he had last year, he's happy in London would he move somewhere else for a couple of years and probably be a sub unless is Saudi and would he want to go there, moneys good but no crowds. I don't know

These journalists have no idea what's going on.  Hence a million different stories.

Actually Pete Rutzler is ITK with the club. He's our dedicated reporter from the Athletic and he 100% has contacts inside the club because he's broke transfer stories before anyone else about deals that have then happened. He also doesn't tweet idle gossip until he's got it verified

As much as I want Willian back, I think it is very unfair of him if he is just waiting to see if anything better comes along, maybe the club should give him a deadline to sign by or forget it. Of course there is nothing to say that the club hasn't done that already.

I have used that word "If".
Story of my life
"I was looking back to see if she was looking back to see if i was looking back at her"
Sadly she wasn't

Such a class player for us, but he's slow and getting slower. He's ripe for the Tim Ream fall-off.  Such a good player (both of them) getting old and a step too slow for the game.  I'd be happy to keep Willian around as an impact sub, but we need to upgrade at that position.

He was awful beginning of last season and end but still absolutely class in the middle. If we can we should keep him one more year and still get ESR as main starter on the left (assuming AP stats and he doesn't play 10). ESR minutes will need to be managed so we don't crop him so Willian would still get plenty of minutes. Very strange what is going on with him...just don't think he wants to sign with anyone as he can't be arsed with pre season. Prob why he was so awful start of last season.

At this point, I'd be surprised if we bought even just one player by the start of the season. I don't ever remember us being this slow in the market in the MAF era.

Super Mick

I understand transfers take time but our transfer team must be the slowest in the league.

Really, can you name one single transfer that Rutzler broke ,
I'm intrigued because he normally is one of the last to know,
And I certainly wouldn't regard him as I.T.K as you have.
