Which apparently translates to:

"There is no negotiation. There is a proposal that was made. Fluminese made a counter proposal and there has still been no response to it.

This is about ten days old."

So who the hell knows what is going on.  Twitter certainly doesn't.

Why the surprise?.  It's all Brazilian rumours and we have never been interested in Andre.

Don't think this could some up some people on here any better. The president of the club himself confirming we have bid for the player and it's all fake news to some.

LC

So I think we need the following:

Centre back (starter)
Left back (back up- maybe a loan)  Midfielder (starter)
Midfielder (starter)
Left winger (starter)
Forward (potential to start, someone who can play across the forward line)

So I think we need at least 6 players. It's worth pointing out that I think Marco Silva wants two centre backs. I personally think it's equally important to bring in two midfielders this window- I personally don't rate Lukic and I don't think we can rely on Cairney and Reed to start every game this season.

In terms of targets, I think André, McTominay and ESR would be top class signings.

JimmyConway

Just heard Westham in negotiations with Kante what a shrewd signing that would be equivalent to when we signed Willian perhaps?
Would not mind him at Fulham personally going on Euro Tournament. Would suit us down to a tee. Still has plenty to offer at the highest level.
Could end up being one of the best signings of the summer.

Looks like Tottenham and Galatasaray going after McTominay...

Another day passes with no recruiting.

Count Flapula

Seen that McTominay and Conor Gallagher are in the final years of their contracts yet their clubs are reportedly after £40m and £50m respectively.

What sort of dreamworld are they living in?!

No doubt they are quoting figures to squeeze out as high a final fee as possible but come on - that is beyond a joke and will put off serious suitors.

If there are mugs out there desperate to pay anywhere near those figures then that validates this idiocy and also damages the transfer market for everyone going forward.

Those figures are absolute lunacy.

EN1 FFC

When I hear journalists from South America talk about player transfers there is always a chance of multiple agents owning a part of a player, so it's difficult to negotiate a  straight forward transfer just with the club.

You would rather us pay £40m for him?

I mean, it does sound like us showing no urgency or concern about being gazumped, and just assuming/hoping they'll lower their demands if we wait it out.

There it is the longest word in the world. "IF"

Sadly she wasn't

And perhaps the club don't think he's worth anymore or even never been interested.

So 1 month until the season. 0 signings. Us and Liverpool are the only teams in the league yet to sign anyone. Same old, same old.

If we could get Andre and ESR over the line soon, that'd be grand!

hovewhite

Andre no go it seems no activity, would like to no what's happening behind the desks,or they all still on holiday?

FFC1987

Meh, I used to be more animated about this kind of thing but as always, the need to sign players to be remotely competitive in this league is much less for a squad like ours compared to say, the likes of Ipswich ie newly promoted clubs and struggling relegation fodder sides.

I appreciate the frustration but I guess we just need to get used to the fact that this is the window and not a lot changes that. Fingers crossed for some signings soon.

Yup. It'll be what it is and no amount of me getting irate will change it, so it is what it is, I tend when these things happen to lean on the side of, there's usually a reason for such things beyond just people not being "at their desk"... Given the reports of being in for Scott McTominay and Hojberg, if any truth in those even at all, it's possible we're looking around at the market and seeing whats possible and/or using such negotiations for leverage.
God knows How it will all transpire. We are still in a fortunate position of having a team very capable of getting points, we'd all like people in sooner than later but we'll get some over the line eventually that improve us I'm sure.

Who knows whats really going on, so many of these reports on Andre seem to be counter to each other and then what's been said by the president at Fluminese, so will just wait to see what arrives at this point. Jiminez was the first player in the door last year July 25th and then things began to move. We'll see when it all goes down this year.

In the meantime, I guess Godo/Stansfield/Harris and some other youth will be trying to work their way into contention this year. Frustrating to not have 1 or 2 exciting deals over the line yet, but hey what ya gonna do. Off to enjoy the sun!

I wonder to what extent is your negative interpretation a reflection upon your own enthusiasm to see us sign the player.

If we were to learn, for instance, the Club has not negotiated with Manchester United since reportedly having an offer for McTominay turned down, would you be as critical?

It's a fair point to an extent but the fact is we've lost our best player and two other first teamers, with no replacements. Add on to this the fact we haven't replaced Mitrović a year on, the squad is getting progressively weaker.

Jim©

Id have expected us to sign some players by now after Silva stated he wants players in early.
But I always think that and have been pleasantly impressed the last 3 years of incoming transfers.

However, importantly we've lost 2.5 starters (Tosin, Palhinha & Willian- not to mention BDR) so we've got 3 to sign to just stand still. To improve I'd suggest we need a replacement for Reed, potentially a CF and perhaps perhaps someone to push Pereira (though I think this should be Wilson who i rate in that position.

We also still have a few 'outs' to sort- Vinicius, Harris loan.

ALSO... I see Willian is still listed on the team page, unlike BDR, Tosin, Marek etc. Is that a sign?

hovewhite

Willian it would be in the news if he has signed somewhere else.so think he's on an extended brake.

I think his wage demands would likely be out of our league anyway (even with a massive pay cut) West Ham have always had a tendency towards splashing out high wages.

I thought it was notable that both Stansfield and Godo featured prominently in the recent training highlights. Both seem to be getting the opportunity in preseason to earn a place. I think the odds are low that either will be a regular in the 20 man match day squads though. Hopefully both will prove me wrong.
