Quote from: HA6White on July 26, 2024, 08:36:58 AMIt looks like Oosterwolde has played CB more often than LB for Fener. Maybe he would be coming in as cover for LCB and LB....bit costly for a potential Ream replacement!
RCB can he operate there?

Sky reporting ESR is close.. £27m up front with £8m in add ons.

Quote from: Craven Mad on July 26, 2024, 08:04:45 AMThree heavily rumoured incomings under 25 (Sess, ESR, Andre), and practically every other rumour also being under 25 (eg Chalobah, Rios, Oosterwolde, Saelemakers etc).

This is shaping up to be a window where we improve both the quality and age profile of the squad.

Exciting stuff  ::scarf::

Yep and look at the potential resale value. Know we want to keep the majority together but look at the spending power the massive profits of Mitro and JP have given us. Should we want to sell to refund the budget next few years huge potential profits to in Robinson, Bassey, Andre, ESR, Sess, Stansfield and Muniz at this point. Potentially others depending who we sign. This is how you manoeuvre the PSR rules to climb the table and go to another level. The club bought older proven players to stabilise in the prem which was exactly the right tactic and is now supplementing that with extremely exciting young talent. We are all quick to criticise (including myself sometimes) but the way this is shaping up got to give the club huge credit here. Yes we are taking risks with injury prone players and any signing can be a flop but I love what they are doing here so let's just hope our medical team and Marco can work their magic.

Not to be overly pessimistic, but if we do get ESR and Andre in, and they do well for us, expect us to be losing them in 1-2 seasons. They key question is, while you have those players that are destined for bigger clubs, can you achieve something significant such as getting into Europe or winning a cup.

Surprised we haven't heard more about Morato recently. Sounded earlier in the summer like Benfica were happy to sell at around £20 million. Predominantly LCB but played left back a lot of last season I believe. Would seem a good option and the club seemed desperate to sign him last year. Sess can play left back as well of course as can Castagne and Bassey. Plenty of cover if we can get another LCB that can do either. Marco clearly said he wants two CB s so imagine we'll be going for a LCB on top of RCB.

Yeah defo. End of the day if they fly for us and a champions league club comes in for one of them (which prob means we have done that well we have got into Europe) then going to be hard to stop them going. To be fair at that point if we are getting £80m to £100m for one of them why would we stop them. That then funds you to kick on again. Without buying low and selling high you can't beat the system. If we get into Europe we'd prob have to sell one big asset anyway under the new rules as for that season our allowable costs would only be 70% rather than 85% of income. Jumping ahead of course and they have got to stay fit/perform brilliantly but this should definitely be our model moving forward if we want to break the top 6 or 7.

Thats a better deal than £35m straight up. An increasingly solid bit of business if that proves the case and is over the line.

Yeah excellent and reduces the injury risk slightly as probably massively dependant on appearances. Also means only £5.4m of amortised fee going on this years books rather than £7m. I suspect Andre may be £20 + £5 so £4m rather than £5m on the books. All adds up to free up more for remaining positions.

I thought the amortisation was over (couldn't be more than) 4 years now or less if the contract was less than 4 years. Thought it was changed after Chelsea did all there stupid 7/8/9 year deals

5 is the limit I believe rather than 4 mate I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone but think it's 5.

I am not sure either, thought it had gone to 4. Either way it isnt a massive difference and a decent deal if it is true

Journalists always want to be seen as right, or the best, or most clued it.. it does my head in.

Some saying we've had a bid agreed and it's just personal terms, some saying ESR is on a plane to London to sort his medical..

Then you've got Dharmesh Sheth who says we've not had a bid accepted as negotiations are still ongoing.

Fully agree this is the better model to follow to progress. Weirdly though, your point actually highlights clubs like us would potentially get penalised for getting into Conf League or Europa as (could) effectively make our budget SMALLER, when you actually need more players!

Admittedely a European run brings in extra TV / prize money / revenue on gates / matchday income, but wonder how far you'd have to progress for that revenue to make up the immediate 15% drop in allowable losses?

Imagine we had to sell a Gera or Duff as a reward for getting 7th and earning a Europa spot just to balance the books? Mental. How can a system like that be a improvement?

Anyway, if anyone told me even a few months ago we'd very likely be signing a 23 year old England international and a 23 year old Brazil international within a few days of each other I'd have sent them for a drugs test!

Think we might find it tough to bring him in if were even really interested.

25m andre
30m ESR
Probably 25 needed for chalobah
20m for oosterwolde

Thats 100m already.

So would probably need to sell Andreas if we had any intention of competiting for him. With Sess/ESR/Iwobi we probably dont need to drop that kinda money on another LW, especially of we also keep willian. Id love to sign him as would provide even more firepower  but cant see it happening

We are in talks with a Keeper as well as a RCB - both very left of field.

Sounds like that RCB needs to work on his positioning

Personally even more worried by the goalie. Prefer my goalies to stay fairly central most of the time.

Yeah this is how the proposed system is built. West Ham only earned £19 million from what I read for willing the thing. If income is £200m 15% less of that is £30 million. At least £10m worse off then for PSR which is two £25m players amortised fees. If you make Europe as an aspiring team with the new rules you may well have to make a sale that year.

Thames Bank 1

And don't forget we have Vinni and Mbapu still on the books

Its fascinating to me at least to see this being written and it being something we've always known to be true, but be something as a club we've only just seemingly started to get, despite our long history. It seems so self evident. We got lucky perhaps with being able to sign Palhinha.. and the new stand and Marco all coming at the same time all contribute as does having ownership with pockets deep enough to push the limits each time round or within the boundaries. A perfect storm, or does Marco become more important?

Players get improved with us, the way we play is attractive to players, he's seen as a good tactician, we start winning more games against the top teams and it all seems to become a snowball effect.

We seem to have used the tactic of Marco being a good developer of players, and tactician to essentially promise good players that they can grow and get that next move with us, but they're top talents, which means the resale value is there too. Its a win/win.. and hopefully fulham continue to improve on the pitch, we keep getting further in cup competitions and the reputation grows. Exciting thoughts.

Obviously that simplifies it, but still interesting to see.
