Ridiculous really, why?
Is it that far fetched to think that our billionaire owner who clearly has an interest in sport might be visiting the olympics?

It isn't and I wouldn't be surprised if he is going to Paris for a couple days but it is a little ridiculous to suggest that's the primary motivation for him being in London

Quote from: Angus Telford on July 26, 2024, 06:32:20 PMThe excitement of yesterday morning is already beginning to be replaced by the cold reality that yet again we're almost in August and haven't actually signed anyone yet. I hope the club aren't planning some silly triple announcement rather than just announcing these deals as soon as they're done, because that would just show a failure to grasp the time-sensitivity of this whole endeavour and the widespread, justified concern in the fanbase.

Bah humbug,

Hey, At least 1 of 3 is in ::scarf::

Hopefully 1 down 2 to go.

Cheer up grumbles

Day 56 of the transfer window: Fulham, having sold their best player for the second summer in a row, become the 19th PL club to sign an incoming player, a free transfer who hasn't played in over a year.

Jayffc, the club's unofficial PR officer, posts a triumphant scarf-wave emoji to forum cynic Angus Telford...

(Just joshing here, no hard feelings  ::wink::  and I do have a good feeling about this transfer fwiw)

Surely with them getting a replacement in this isn't the case. The never ending saga.

Probably, what I found odd is that the photo of the signing was with Shahid and its clear shahid is present at the club during the transfer window, meanwhile TK is posting about wrestling, yet despite the impression Shahid is nearby and his son isn't even paying proper attention, the club still quotes Tony when we sign someone.. like why can't we just quote Shahid if he's in the room when Ryan signs... he's the real owner.

It's like Shahid is doing the work and Tony is the spoilt kid with a play thing taking the credit and trying to look good despite not doing anything.

We need a DM and maybe even another CM. It's one of our weakest areas on the pitch now alongside LB and RCB. You can't lose Palhinha and expect us to do better. Even if Lukic has a good season you're struggling to find a decent partner for him and if one gets injured then you're severely lacking/found wanting in an area and league you simply can't be.

It's clear we're going for a DM in andré or mctominay and others being mooted.

Haha Yes quite clear that we are in for a DM. However, I dont think its André OR McTominay, I think we want both (as reported by Rutzler). We lack height and strength after Palhinha, so it makes sense to add a bit of steel along side André.

So its either André and McTominay or André and Souza/another

hovewhite

Think no one will get close to Palhinia the only player was the Sheffield utd player think lucik will do it unless Andre
Comes in. McTominay he doesn't want to leave manure no way as he will play for them.Tenhaag might want him out but knows what he brings to the team.

How do you figure that LB is weak? We have one of the best LBs in the league, and then Sess, Castagne, Ream and Bassey that can play there.

Here we go again  :slap:

Because remote meetings and phones are a thing in 2024. Ive worked successfully in a management positions for a company in another country for 2 years... I've literally never been there and am in contact with them daily. I also work in 2 other businesses effectively, one of which is my own.
It isn't always necessary.

If you have a laptop and a phone, You dont need to be in London to assist in identifying players, discussing business decisions and lead a general transfer strategy alongside a scouting/stat department and manager in 2024. My ceo works effectively between a couple different companies as many do.

Tony gets some credit because hes actively head of transfer matters still, just because he doesnt live stream every fulham meeting with you or isnt in london to shake Sess hand doesn't mean he does f all does it. Its been stated in tons of interviews with the athletic and nytimes etc what his involvement is, in detail thats never been refuted by our managers.

We know at this point from interviews with managers and himself what the system is here, but hey, lets ignore all that because we would rather "feel" its something other than has been stated over and over in reputable publications and club material just because. Ill never get this burning urge to deride someone with zero internal knowledge countering what's been stated is the set up at fulham.

Shahids an international businessman running multiple projects too, When shahids in town, hes likely also doing multiple things, one of which will no doubt be checking in on the new stand as its supposed to open in December, taking meetings in london, he also is working always on the Jags amd NFLs presence in the UK. Hes not just flown out because of the transfer window so he can shake Sess hand. They both take trips to london intermittently around their schedules and needs, this time its shahid there. No need to frame it to fit a hateful narrative

McTominay is in his final year of his contract. If ten Haag wants to keep him, then surely they would sort out a contract for him - which is yet to happen. Probably because they need the funds that would come from selling him, retaining basically the whole transfer fee due to him being a own product.

And yes, McTominay, a product of their youth Academy, obviously wants to stay at his childhood club that also happens to compete for/in European football. Cant blaim him for that. But when/if United tells him they want him to move on, then im sure the prospect of joining us will be an attractive choice unless there are bigger clubs in for him. The exact same thing would apply for all of our transfer targets in the past, present and future.

No disrespect, but you're an employee. They're the owners. And everything you said is just as apt for Shahid Khan as it is for Tony.. yet here we are with Shahid in the UK and Tony not.. and guess what.. most of our transfer targets seem to be UK based..

Souza, Mctominay, Chalobah, Sessegnon, ESR..

But thanks for sharing you work and have access to technology and explaining the cery basic similarities of international business with someone whos done the exact same. Lol.

I'm sure that's useful to your bosses who are charging you out at a rate higher than you're being paid, so they and potentially your shareholders can benefit, whilst your insecurity sees you mansplain self evident things on a football forum.

So, why can't Shahid who was clearly involved and present at Sessegnons homecoming say anything about it?

P.s. - just to prevent you from creating additional meaning when it wasn't implied - perhaps you're a creative. I never alluded to/touched on or didn't suggest international travel wasn't a thing for business owners who may have multiple business interests.

Yawn.

How do you figure that LB is weak? We have one of the best LBs in the league, and then Sess, Castagne, Ream and Bassey that can play there.

Ream is ageing and rumours of going to the U.S, he's not versatile enough to play LB in a back four - realise this is an opinion... lol.

Sessegnon has genuinely not played a game in a year and a half or longer and is a long term injury concern. He may be fit now, and I hope he stays fit and thrives, but it's acknowledging that there's a chance he simply may not be fit this season. I also see him more as a LW than LB, though acknowledge he can play both IF fit. That's a big if based on a large chunk of his last 4 or so years as a professional. Look up his injury record vs playing time on transfrmrkt.

Bassey may well be a decent option at LB, but I don't think Ream is as solid and I think he's at the end of his career. In an ideal situation Bassey us for me our starting LCB.. which means he's not playing two positions at once.. unless Marco reverts to a back three. Which he is unlikely to do. In that case then, he's not an option.

Leaving just Robinson as a reliable LB option and a very good one at that.

So, if Robinson gets injured and Sessegnon maintains his injury record, which is a legitimate concern and risk, then we have very little long term options there.

Marco likes versatile players, which is great.. and we'll do well with that.. and it could make the Sessegnon and ESR signings make a lot of sense..

But for me, it makes sense to get in another LB.

Yawn.

1. Tony is not the owner. He is an employee.
2. Sometimes Tony is here and Shahid isn't - already made this point about them being here intermittently around their schedules. No kick off when Tonys here on his own moaning about Shahid focussing on building infrastructure in Florida or car part factories though.
3. No idea what some* of the reported targets being English has to do with anything  ( we've also been rumoured to be in for lots of players outside of England from andre/bove/silva/oosterwolde/morato etc etc but I guess we're just ignoring those in favour of creating a narrative that being here is)
4. Making it personal about my working situation with no understanding of my schedule and commitments -  yup that's in character with the rest of the posting. Focus on snidey personal attacks about me personally whilst making assumptions about my set up that you have no knowledge of, rather than effectively rebuking the points made. At least you're consistent.
5. Why does it matter if Shahid specifically says something or not in the article, who cares? Why is this an issue? I didn't even notice he didn't because its such a non issue. He was on site at the time and so got to greet Sess and take photos, so did his bit, cool. Tonys department is working on transfer strategy with he rest of the team -  so he commented on his department. He will have been involved in the process of all incomings so why not comment? He comments, Dad takes a nice PR snap -on we go... Why does it have to be dragged into something extra.

Yawn indeed.
