Quote from: demeant0r on July 29, 2024, 04:56:28 PMDid we just take a week to haggle £1m? Last week it was quoted the deal was £28m + £7m :slap:
Of course it must be Fulham's fault for any delay.

I wonder if some of the readers on this board have ever conducted a multi million pound negotiation. £1m shaved off is a lot of money however you look at it. Many of us haven't got more than a few quid but seem happy to spend millions of someone else's money

When I read comments like this, it becomes painfully obvious they haven't been part of much bigger acquisitions/mergers. If you're looking at upwards of say £30m deals, becoming stuck on say, £1m isn't impressing any of the stakeholders.....you're short term quibbling is costing just as much with stalling and costs of negotiations with all parties involved idling over it.....

Sweet Christmas, give it a rest. As if "conducting million pound negotiations" or "being part of bigger acquisitions and mergers" is a prerequisite to commenting on football transfers😆

Somerset Fulham

Apparently split over four years too, this is such good bloody work Fulham.

General

Apparently going back in for Mctominay...

Is he a DM or a CM? Wondering if there's a possibility of us signing ESR, Mctominay AND André..?

If we did that'd be quite something. Clearly André is doing very well at a young age in Brasil and would be the preferred option in a straight race vs Mctominay, but both would be a treat.

Then we'd just need a RCB, LB, Willian and another striker to round things off in a greedy way and it'd be quite the summer. Hopefully they all start coming in sooner rather than later.

What I'm personally positive about in this window is that we are pursuing younger players with potential sell on value. For me the age of our squad was becoming a big concern so I'm very happy that we seem to be focusing on lowering that.
We also probably need to make a big sale every couple of years for FFP so this strategy also lends itself to that.

Still, I really hope we can get Andre over the line finally

Somerset Fulham

Fair enough, but cashflow is important especially at this time of year. I guess none of us really know how much liquid cash the club can get its hands on at any given time.

Thames Bank 1

Maybe will be bringing in some of the young lads from U23

Hmmm, makes no difference from an FFP perspective, just a cash flow perspective. Sort of fits with the narrative on the mortgaging of the cottage thread. One assumes we could actually have got him for less if we'd paid it all up front.

Man

You are truly hell-bent on looking at anything and everything from the most negative angle possible :slap:

Jesus, we're signing a top young talent many Arsenal fans are devastated to see go and you are still fighting to find a way to make it into a negative any way possible.

Brother, enjoy life, its over before ya know it and this is supposed to be a bit of fun! Im not even trying to start an argy I just really am flabbergasted at the lengths to make this a glass half-empty moment when there's so much  be excited about here.

Might it fail miserably? Absolutely, like any club, gambles can not pay off but bloody ell, young, talented player, highly coveted and rated by fellow professionals...do try and allow yaself a bit of enjoyment out here.

Never seen André, but read a lot about him and id imagine he'd fit in with McTominay next to each other. Both players can put in a tackle, but André seems to operate a bit further down the pitch, coming deep to collect the ball, beating the press through his passing and technique. McTominay needs no introduction, typical box to box. Basically an upgrade to Reed. But taller, which is important to keep that aerial threat both in attack and defence that Joao offered.

ESR will either play LW or 10, wont be any issues there

Dont see the point in bringing back Willian tbh. Not this time. ESR, Iwobi, Sess can all play on that left wing. Dont want to bring in Willian with such a high wage. Wouldnt mind it, but seems like too much of a luxury buy.

Somewhat agree with the last on willian, you want the elder players to be good role models to the younger players, relying on a player who's sat on the fence doesn't give the best impression.

Think Willian if wanted by Silva then if he wants another season he will get one.

Agreed, although hopefully the squad strength will be such that Willian will not make the starting XI now.
We have enjoyed his time here but the club must improve season after season.

my sentiments and even if he returns he will be in the que for a place, also the right side will be Wilson, traore with fantastic pace and think our strikers will get big chances backed up by ESR ,traore,Wilson ,and Iwobi and all of those four can score goals so will be exciting as all ways under Silva.

Posted this elsewhere but might as well include here as well. According to this BBC report, the 7M in add-ons in the Smith-Rowe deal "are based on Cup and European success for the Cottagers".
