It will be interesting now to see whether we go after Andre and McTominay. I think it would be a mistake to only bring in 1 midfielder.

These 'journalists'... from having an offer agreed, to having the president come out saying we'd not replied to their counter offer in 10 days, to now saying we're not interested at all. Can't make it up. Come on Fulham, this is surely a priority signing.

I'm worried about our centreback situation... We currently have only 3 senior centrebacks, one of which is Ream, who is heavily rumoured to be going to the MLS. And after a few rumours at the beggining of the season, it's gone quiet. We need to get a rcb in asap. If Ream leaves than a lcb as well, also asap.

We literally have no cover there and a new centreback (or 2 if Ream leaves) is what I hope will be our first signing after ESR. Even before a dm (and certainly before a second new midfielder or another winger).

Maybe we've decided to go for McTominay instead? He's been heavily rumoured recently and we apparently sent an improved offer today.

The prices for Mctominay being quoted are higher than that of Andre. Also Andre is a DM and Mctominay is a CM.. we've got enough options in CM, we need a DM more.. we need to replace Palhinha, DM is key to how we play.

Andre isn't exactly a typical dm either, his playstyle is very much different to Palhinha. Lukic-Reed combo worked really well last season (I think we won 3 or 4 and lost one game with two of them starting, and most of those games were very difficult on paper) so I think we can alter the way we play, and play two of Reed/Lukic/McTominay(or Andre) and be fine.

The club might prefer McTominay to Andre because he is somewhat proven at PL level, i.e. they more or less know what they'll be getting, while they might see Andre as a bigger risk, even if his fee is slightly lower.

That being said, I'm really not a fan of McTominay and I hope we look elsewhere, even if Andre deals falls through.

I get what you're saying and do appreciate wins like the one against Man Utd didn't include Palhinha for instance, so we can get good results with the midfielder we've got.

I suppose I'm still not convinced there's the depth, or flexibility in the players we have tk try different line ups and tactics.

When it comes to andre, I'm not sure the will he/won't he is as much of an issue these days, particularly for Brazilian players coming to Europe.

It's not like he's not played against European teams, he's got pedigree winning titles already at Fluminense and is also a Brazilian international, tactically he's proven he's versatile and he's a key cog in how Fluminense play.. he's come back into the team and they've gone on an unbeaten streak..

I think he may prove to just be that extra level of quality.

Plus, when you've got Portuguese speaking manager, players and coaching staff who have shown a patience to assimilate players (as seen with Muniz who came over having achieved a lot less in Brazil), then I think its fair to approach andré with more bullish optimism.

I agree, I'd love Andre and I'd definitely prefer him to McTominay. I just think maybe with the ESR signing (who is also a bit of a risk and a very high fee was paid), the club thinks McTominay is a "safer" option, considering the fact that both Andre and McTominay would demand a pretty big fee too. They might not want to "gamble" 55-60 million.

Or alternatively this is just a smokescreen to try and get a better price for Andre.

FWIW someone on TIFF who's known to be ITK put a post on there about 1:45ish today confirming that ESR was done and then it broke about 2 hours later. Same poster said that the £25m fee for Andre is agreed but they're working out a payment structure because Fluminense want 50% of the fee up front.

Who knows,
So many contrasting articles and reports the last few weeks.

I suspect given theres no other offer seemingly on the table from other clubs we might be playing hardball while thats the case. If we've offered £25m thats a perfectly good offer and would already be a club record fee to them, if theyve rejected it and perhaps are requesting £30m or whatever theyve come back with the club might feel thats a significant enough overpay to stand their ground. Its not like any other clubs have heard hes available at the 30m range and jumped on it so perhaps we arent crazy for not pulling the trigger.

Tricky to know what the reality of the situation is with all conflicting reports though

Seems were exploring other CM/DM options though and marco will have given his blessing on our targets so will see whats in the door by end of the window

Interesting, saw this after posting, just saw that from MN on voy. Hes been right before on things so well see... One of the more reliable ITKs

Given weve allegedly just structured this deal for payments over 4 seasons for ESR then maybe we are looking to creative here too.

God knows, que sera

That's interesting.. May also explain why Muniz who's never played with the guy has started following him and commenting/liking his Instagram posts.

Who knows. Heart wants it to be true.. brain won't believe it till its actually happened.

What's interesting is that a large portion of the Fluminense fanbase seem to be worried about us walking away at £25m, as seen in the below tweet and replies. Maybe it's posturing on their end about a deal not being done to try and save face, based on the TIFF post it might actually show that once again MN's source is correct?

https://twitter.com/gumsincero/status/1818038530880495678

Translation: If Fulham withdraw their £25 million offer for André we are F#CKED!

MUST sell! There is no but, there is no but, there is nothing!

The player wants to go, the club needs the money (which is more than expected), and I hope it works out.

That's very interesting. Didn't realize their finances were so poor. Other fans in the replies to that post also agree they need to sell. Maybe we are trying to make them crack by leaking offers/plans for other CMs.

The thing about the payment structure would make some sense. They need cash and they need it now so they are demanding half up front. We seemingly don't have much cash on hand, hence the borrowing against the cottage and spreading the ESR fee over 4 years

I think the chances of Ream leaving before we got a replacement in are around zero especially since it's not there will be much of a fee involved if any at all. But I agree we need to get a RCB in extremely soon. We are one twisted ankle or pulled hamstring away from an extremely sketchy situation with just weeks until the start of the season.

Exactly. I mean don't get me wrong we absolutely do need a 6/8 type midfielder, but this is clearly even more pressing. A rcv should have been our first signing really, and the more time passes the more worried I am.

I think the Chalobah deal could still be activated.

It does feel like we are waiting Chalobah because he is Marco's 1st choice but Chalobah is extremely resistant to leaving. With Shad in town and Chalobah being left off their preseason squad maybe we will see something happen this week. It doesn't feel like an accident that Shad went to London and immediately we had two signings a few days apart.

Quote from: jayffc on July 26, 2024, 12:15:20 AMWest ham likely to press ahead with Summerville bid having missed out on Soule from juventus who went to Roma.

Think we might find it tough to bring him in if were even really interested.

25m andre
30m ESR
Probably 25 needed for chalobah
20m for oosterwolde

Thats 100m already.

So would probably need to sell Andreas if we had any intention of competiting for him. With Sess/ESR/Iwobi we probably dont need to drop that kinda money on another LW, especially of we also keep willian. Id love to sign him as would provide even more firepower  but cant see it happening

We are in talks with a Keeper as well as a RCB - both very left of field.

Write down the first letter of their first name and country of origin so you can prove you're ITK when the story breaks.
