And Cuenca!!    -  and rightly so.. we want players in the doors, ideally faster then ESR took too (looked from his promotional stuff that it was wrapped up at the beginning of this week, as most of the VT was taken in England and at the cottage).

I assume Cuenca will be next and perhaps later today, though I'm not going to hold my breath given how slow the club were to confirm ESR.

We can now focus our sights on bringing in the CBs and CM/DM's we need. Exciting times. Well done Marco for talking him into the project you're clearly building.

Marco said the same thing about Palhinha - managers don't always say what they mean/know to be true because he's hardly going to say "yeah he's ok but if he goes I'm fine with it" because it's hardly a motivational comment to McTominay if he does end up staying

Ye, but Arteta said ahead of time he expected Smith Rowe to leave so it suggests to me, at the least, a deal is some way off or not looking likely.

I thought he said he would be happy if McTominay stayed not that he wanted him to stay unless there is another comment I have missed. Man Utd have Urgate from PSG lined up and need to sell before they can confirm (similar to needing to Sell Wan Bisake and a centre back before signing the 2 Munich players)

As someone said earlier, its not Ten Hags call. And honestly, his public comments about McT could very well either be his way of protesting that the club are willing to sell, or just playing mind games with us to not seem desperate to sell.

Whats clear to me is that the club can activate his contract extention without any negotiations or giving him a higher wage - so if the club wants to keep him, why havent they?

Im guessing they want to revamp the squad but by doing so they also need to comply to PSR. And its been very clear from the start of June that United need to sell in order to bring in new players. Thats why they are shipping Wan Bissaka, probably Lindelöf and so on. But the best way to get the most money from a player sale - as we have seen this summer with ESR, Gallagher and so on- is to sell a playrr that has come through from the Academy. 

I think United wouldnt mind keeping McT, but they also realise that in order for them to compete with Man C and Arsenal, they need better players. And they need more money to bring in better players than McT.

Its also been a persistent rumors that United wants Ugarte, so clearly they are having the way for him.

perk up, none of us really know, but we're a much bigger step closer to finding out. Let's hope he does come! an exciting prospect. It seems many of the players we've been signing last year and this are all about being part of a competitive squad and team who are part of a big project, which I assume includes europe and silverware. It's bringing in top talents with long term contracts, and Andre would fit into that perfectly. I believe if back Marco can get it over the line. Fingers crossed.

If they did why are they trying to sign Urgate knowing they need to sell, they would need to off load Casemiro or McTominay and the Saudi interest in Casemiro seems to have gone cold. Mctominay has 2 maybe 3 clubs wanting him, so praising him up keeps the price high. Something to keep in mind as well is he was told last year he wasnt seen as a starter in the first team, and they tried to sell him or had agreed a fee with West Ham but he chose to stay, is it a case of the same this year as it is known they are willing to listen to offers, again no idea myself but just something that strikes me as odd between what he has said and what the club are doing.

Agree we need to temper expectations but i have slightly different take to your good self. I also think it is possible that we are using this to push Fluminese hard to agree to our terms for Andre, although I like the sound of both of them in our midfield.

Just to the two posters saying something similar, it might well happen, and the club might sell under Ten Hag, but out of all the noise so far, I'd probably more inclined to put the most weight to what a manager of the club says then the average journo reporting it, as sad as that is.

I'm personally in the camp that I'd love to sign him, but its just really difficult to register that interview, and see some sort of acceptance that United genuinely want to sell is all I'm saying. Feels like some copium arguments here to try and persuade yourselves hes signing.

We'll just have to wait and see. I really don't see anything remotely 'clear' about whether United actually want to sell or not though is the point.

In fairness, the only signals we're actually hearing, from the club, is what Ten Hag has said though....Everything else is rumour right? Or am I missing something? And agree with Deuce, feels like more 2+2=5. Andre isn't a factor here, and that's not reallyt rumour or heresay. They dont remotely play the same roles.

I am with you not against you. Base don speculation they are willing to sell, base don comments they want him to stay. So it is unclear either way. For me it is good we are looking at these players and being ambitious

I think they actually have offered him around as thats what sky have said, but who knows if they are right

Perhaps as they were in the United academy together and I think have played together, Pereira should have a word in Mctm ear and tell him what a great club we are and that London and Surrey are great places to live.

Well Fluminese haven't announced Andre s replacement but his old club have said goodbye and have confirmed he is joining them:
