Chiesa is just agent talk I reckon. Just tapping up Prem clubs in the hope Villa/Newcastle catch wind.

Quote from: SuffolkWhite on August 06, 2024, 10:20:08 PMI still think there will be a left field signing that is not expected, remember Palhinha!
If I recall Palhinha was rumoured for a good couple of weeks before it was official. Remember seeing footage of him at Lisbon airport saying he was off to Fulham before we even announced it.

Quote from: McBrideOfFrankenstein on August 06, 2024, 10:59:48 PMSeriously, what is with all the quoted posts with nothing new at the end?
Probably someone who's got too much time on their hands. Unfortunately.

Quote from: btffc on August 06, 2024, 11:13:08 PMChiesa would be insane but I would be stunned if he wants to come to Fulham. If anyone can convince him it would be Marco but then we would also have to pay a likely huge wage request which I doubt.

Interestingly, chiesa is down on Google etc as a forward, but his goalscoring stats are very average to poor. He's obviously had a high profile reputation, and considered good by many, but why? Is he better than the stats suggested or has he stagnated and failed to develop and impress which is why he's being pied off?

Quote from: DM on August 06, 2024, 05:23:23 PMFulham hierarchy are ready to spend another 60m+ in the final weeks of this transfer window.

Any actual detail on that?

Considering we've been linked with Mctominay and André, both of whom have been valued between 20-30 million, I'd have thought £60m would've been obvious and the bare minimum..

Any idea of who, including the two mentioned we're linked with? Can give vague identifying details, not the exact names (I.e., positions, type of player in terms of style, leagues etc), I assume we're at this point working multiple possibilities.

Feel like you've dangled a carrot, but not given much more than can be gathered.

The two weeks is promising, though the league opener is in 10 days (we'll 9 tomorrow) and we need players in ASAP.
Other options to André are being looked at although we will wait till late to make that decision.
Another McTominay bid is imminent
Fulham also remain confident on Chalobah but again it will be late as he wants a club in Europe.

At this stage I don't see Fulham adding before Utd.
Best bet is Scott McTominay.

All part of the game.

Hoping Utd will panic and come back to Fulham.

Just give it up bro

How did you manage to put a screenshot in a post on the board?

DM states above that another bid is forthcoming whereas Sky saying we have walked away from McTominay. So much for his inside information.

DM?

If it is what I think it means then I can't remember the last time that they were right about anything.  And I mean anything.

Federico Chiesa is a mainly left winger. As such he scored 9 goals in Serie A last season.

Chiesa and Smith Rowe would be a world class duo in our attack.

93 games RW - 33 goals 14 assists
62 game SS - 14 goals 9 assists
61 games LW - 11 goals 13 assists
37 games RM - 9 goals 7 assists
24 games -  CF - 4 goals 5 assists
11 games - LM 4 goals 3 assists

So hes a generally versatile attacker thats played mostly out wide with a significant amount of games as a forward too.

Just seen on the clubs website too that ESR is in the Midfield section of our squad and not as a forward, which if he were to play a winger i'd have expected. So as @btffc did point out to one of my posts and apparently Marco has mentioned, we're looking at ESR for the 10 role instead.

If that's the case, then we do potentially need an extra winger - as we've only got Wilson, Adama and Iwobi.

It'd be interesting to see Pereira as a deeper lying midfield (CAM/CM) - I'm not 100% sure it's the right position for him.. but happy to be proven wrong. Could perhaps have a pivot of Andre and Pereira - I imagine the Brazilian connection could help Andre settle if we were to get him in as they've played with each other for the national team.

Chiesa does seem like a great option, but I fear he's another waste of our time and someone we're being too ambitious with. But that's just me. Would be quite a statement summer if we managed to get McTominay, Chiesa, ESR, Andre, Sess, Cuenca and a RCB in though... only have three of those through the door, so not getting ahead of myself with that being the reality though.

McBrideOfFrankenstein

Interesting segment on US television yesterday about why Chiesa is surplus to requirements at Juve. One major injury, then a tactically negative coach the past couple of years. Would love to swoop for him but it's highly unlikely.

Deeping_white

I guess it depends what Chiesa is after. A few years of being the big fish at a team might put him in the shop window for a top 4 PL team if he can be consistent for us - I imagine we can afford his wages and it puts us on the map so probably a worthwhile investment, and certainly a big upgrade on our current wingers. Him and ESR in the same team would be absurd for a year on year upgrade on our attacking output for sure

Craven Mad

Chiesa seems like exactly the sort of fluid attacking player that Silva likes. He'd clearly be a big step up for us.

Equally, Chiesa seems totally out of reach for us currently and probably won't want to come here...

He seems like someone Spurs should be in for though. Would be perfect on the right of a Postecoglu attack.

This is interesting:

https://x.com/FulhamTransfer/status/1821112448155349299

Basically Man U can't sign unless they sell McT. If they do sell him they could potentially look at Andre! Key then...sign Andre before we even think about buying McT even if Man U drop their price to £20m!

Please let's not keep spinning on this as if it was anything in it. It is not even a rumor.

He did drop AP back in the friendly of course the other night. Now I assumed that is because until we sign someone in there we are short so needs that as an option short term. Could he be looking longer term with ESR 10? With ESR 10 and Iwobi or another attacking winger left we do look way more threatening. We were also looking at Wesley supposedly for the left on top of these Chiesa.

In many ways I really like this. AP played 8 in Brazil I believe and many times for United. When AP dropped the other night he looked superior to Reed/Lukic passing forwards which you'd expect. Thought this looks great. Then he missed a couple of tackles and they were in on goal. I suppose the question then is would he be good enough defensively in the prem without JP beside him? Certainly works hard enough but looking at those flakey tackles a concern. Perhaps an option however to improve our passing from deep and take him out of the 10 where he is nowhere near enough of a threat? Iwobi/top new winger left, ESR 10 and Adama right is pretty electric and I love the idea of it.

Bronaldinho

We love doing business late, and in the past TK has mentioned the lateness of the window maximises the value you get. It's frustrating as a fan, but certainly a successful tactic in the past, and one that seems to be playing out here.

Yes, it means there's greater risk of competition for targets as it drags out. But, seems that's going to be the way for Andre + McTominay.

Ideally want both, but we'll see.

Fluminense need a few more weeks to get out of the relegation zone, before they'll entertain letting him go anyway.

It was mentioned by Ben Jacobs mate and by someone else the other day I believe after Ugate fell through for them. Also in the article I've linked above. Nothing serious to be fair but supposedly they had an interest before. Personally my guess is they want someone already proven in Europe but not impossible with their financial situation they take a punt on him as the cheaper option. They need a 6 and if I were the Fulham transfer team and we do really want him I'd certainly at least be wary.

I fully agree with your assessment. I would be shocked if Man U believes Andre could step in and be their savior 6 in an instance. As you said, they are so much more likely to go for someone already proven in Europe. And rather go for Andre after he has proven himself for us (hopefully) in a year or two. But I appreciate the heads up on the Ben Jacobs link, thanks mate!
