Surely no need for him here now unless we moved on Periera or played ESR exclusively at LW. Cant imagine this having legs

Deeping_white

Olly Sanderson has signed a new 2 year contract with a club option for a third. Was on loan in L2 last season and I'm guessing will be at a similar level this year

Out of sheer principal I don't want this to happen. Liverpool don't want him and haven't developed his talent whilst he's been with them. Arguably he's less of a player than when they got him.

Why should we pay anything more than what we sold him to them for.

Quote from: C Block on August 07, 2024, 06:34:53 PMOnce upon a time we were heavily linked with a move for Sander Berge I don't think we've been linked with him once this summer
Isn't he the kind of player we should be looking at, knows the English game inside out so a relatively short time to adjust, surely Burnley would be open to a sale.

Yeah I'd have Sander Berge definitely, was thinking this the other day. Saw him linked with United and don't think he will be at Sheffield United next season

Although not for the reason he 'knows the English game' as this could be said for any 34 year old with 500 appearances in league 2..

Well he is not 34 he is 26 and he knows the English game which is a huge advantage and crucial, and in both Fulhams and the players best interest.

Point was lost but if the best thing you can say about a potential signing is they 'know the English game' then it says a lot about them as a player ..

It certainly does and it is a massive plus, and in general it adds to their credibility as they will be mentally strong and use their upper body strength and punch their weight, because they know what to expect physically wise because it is in our culture.

Not run away home sick.

You sound as though you don't know much about that.

Nevertheless you seem to be  gradually learning but still a little slow for comfort.

haha ramblings of a madman. Think Berge is a good footballer though.

Dogs bark at what they don't understand.

Berge does not ramble and is nowhere near being mad, where did you get that idea from grasshopper.
Its not the man in the fight, it's the fight in the man.  🐘

Agree.

For me this would be like drinking in a Wetherspoons - cheap beer but there's something that just doesn't smell right about it.

For the right price, Fab is a no-brainer for me.

Put your pride aside, and he's a player who:

- could fill-in on the left of our attacking three;
- has successfully worked with us/Marco previously;
- would effectively come at a 20% discount (due to the sell-on clause we hold);
- is still only 21 and counts as homegrown; and
- has a lot of upside potential.

A three of Fab/ESR/Iwobi behind Muniz would offer a high work rate and fluid goal scoring threat.

Agree and said as much on the previous page. Also think he would come back with a point to prove, and we know Marco can get the best out of him too. His ability to play LW and as a #10 means we can fit him and ESR into the same team and gives us more depth and if he smashes it with us a second time, that £20m-ish could also look a bargain if a big club comes sniffing in the future because we've all seen just how talented he is

Indeed. I believe this would then truly be Marco's FFC. Although I think he'll still want one more truly explosive Winger.

Fabio would be a great signing. But paying Liverpool £25m doesn't sit well with me at all. I think we might have a sell on fee so presumably that would be deducted from any offer we submit to them.

Another way of looking at it is Andreas out and Fabio in which would make an awful lot of sense and is more palatable if you look at it like that (presuming Andreas is going of course).

Another point worth making is that if he were to return we would have both Sess and Fabio coming back to us and I would presume that should help us tie down the next crop of talent coming through our academy.

I wonder how many people on here would be keen on buying Mitro back from Al-Hellhole? Even if we agreed a fee that was less than we got for him, I'm sure it would be fairly unpopular.

General

Things have slowed down to a ridiculously quite level.. What's happened? A week or so ago we seemed on the verge of potentially making four signings. It's great we've got two through the door, but we still really need a decent amount through.

Perhaps the club wanting the rumour mill to calm down a bit as it wasn't helping our transfer business at all? Andre has gone almost completely quiet.. McTominay is just smatterings here and there.. No news of a RCB any more.

I see what you're saying but at least one of the points is mute.

Fabio left us for a free to Liverpool, it's important to remember that - he chose to leave when his contract ran out so we got nothing. Getting 20% off may seem good, but if they try selling Fabio to us for £20m, then they're still making a £16m profit off us, for a player they got for free and have done nothing with since. I don't think he's worth that much given how little he's played since he joined them. He shows glimpses for them on their preseason tours, but rarely has featured in the seasons.

They didn't get him for free though? They had to pay us circa £7m with a 20% sell on clause. I understand the premise but it's quite clear they tapped him up via his agent with grand promises they've never lived up to

It's completely different. Mitro won't have any resale value and pushed his way out of the club. Fabio joined Liverpool after his contract expired and he is young and has huge potential resale value as well.

Well if they want £20m for him and we get 20% off and they also paid us £5m in compensation, so the real cost is £11m which isn't the end of the world. It still leaves a bitter taste but we are getting a hell of a player and for that price we will struggle to find an alternative.

The rules need to change around young players, I blame Liverpool and I also don't blame Liverpool

Fluminese's president has announced they're having financial difficulties I think going by this tweet:

https://twitter.com/Flureidaamerica/status/1821522200467308606

Probably explains why we've sat back and waited on the Andre front because they're going to have to drop the price
