Think Nelson could be okay but loan and no option is very disappointing. Also disappointed to lose out on Andre and concerned with no CF.

Yes we are Fulham and signings we have made have been decent. Squad depth is strong. But the fact is for me - palhinha, Willian and mitro out and a downgrade in every position.
I'm an optimist

Since MS is involved in every aspect of player recruitment do you think he approves?

Aristotle said; that the whole is greater that the sum of it's parts. Do you think that MS sees that our team has evolved in that way.
It was how Money Ball worked for Oakland - you can't replace star players like for like so look at improving the whole squads performance.
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

He was supposed to be going back to Brazil - the window doesn't close there until 02 September.
if the Brazilian window is still open,  does that mean we could still get a Brazilian striker?
Brazilian transfer window is open till monday, so Vini is still likely to move to Braganto

We cant sign anyone our window for incoming registrations closed at 11pm (or 1am with a deal sheet) last night

Muniz played great v Leicester.  A goal would have calmed everyone down a bit but he is looking the part.  Raul is fine as backup.  Yes, I would like a £50M striker and Muniz could become that, if not we have purchasing power for January or the next transfer window.  Expect Nelson to eventually be made permanent.

A very good window reducing the age profile, allows Marco to develop the younger squad into something special.

Nope - they can buy players - we can't - it is transfer in that are restricted

The window overall has been good imo, Silva will get a tune out of the players signed.

Yes another Striker would have been helpful,  but let's hope Muniz starts hitting the back of the net. We should have some spare change for January if things don't work out.

Muniz hatrick today, anyone!?

I have been a member on this forum for 5 years although obviously I do not post much as I am sick and tired of all the BS that goes on with peoples opinions that turn into arguments and slanging matches like wimbledon, back and forth.

Year after year has seen the same, everyone moans that we do our deals later in the window, then lo and behold, this year we get our deals in earlier and everyone is still moaning.

I will not qoute posts but the general consensus I can see is everyone is an arm chair football manager who wants X player in X position immediatley and who it should be since FM was released on PC IN 2004.

Marco said that J would be used this season.... does that mean start or in the last 5 mins of a game so to sell him on for potentially 20MIL + sell on fee is great business in my book..... especially if he discussed this with MS and wants to start every game which to be honest is not going to happen with us!

Nelson on loan (admittedly with no option to buy) is a far better option then players know one knows nothing about from the continent (JP the exception)

Keeping the spine of the team is great (even if they are getting slighty older) and they all have that Fulham togetherness which is obvious to see and introduce to the newbies.

with ESR (potentially showcasing himself for an England call up), Berge, Cuenca, Anderson, Sess and Nelson I think this has been a great window.   Could we have done better - maybe.   Could we have done worse - yes.

But at the end of the day, there is no sense in complaining about lack off etc, it is what it is and regardless, I trust MS and Fulham to do what is best for the club.   They may have been in for our targets, players may wish to come or not, finances and other clubs shenanigans come into play and WE DO NOT KNOW what happens behind the scenes to fullfill our dreams and desires so accept what we have and move on.

You'll all be singing Muniz's praise by January

We have massive gap in central midfield Berge is not a Dcm also no  Centre forward cover or first team spot and also no back up keeper. Nelson must have been our fifth choice ridiculous.

Silva doesn't want him and he wasn't given a squad number so he will definitely be off .

Quote from: Caedal on August 31, 2024, 12:17:55 AMI'm still gutted we didn't sign Andre. Made worse by the fact Wolves did.

At least it wasn't Forest, they have a habit of signing our transfer targets. Can't stand them.

Vinicius is useless, I'd sooner play a false 9 than him, ESR could do a job. I hope he still leaves.

Go figure

If you want to frame 24 year old ESR as a downgrade on 35 year willian then were not gonna get anywhere constructive. He was being kept out the team by Iwobi end of last year.

We didnt replace mitro. But we scored a record goals scored tally for fulham in the prem when we came up with him. Then scored the same amount without him the next year. No mean feat.

Clearly upgraded our defence with a player that already showed in his first game why he can also improve our attack.

Palhinha impossible to replace like for like but brought in a player with quality, jury out on the net result there of playing a different way

We lost our 3rd choice cf who had some potential so I agree there that's one area thats a risk for now.

Dont expect anyone to change their minds here though. Hopefully we have a great season

Do you think that it is time for MS to go or be fired?
He seems to have made so many mistakes this transfer window.
He told us that he has final approval for player recruitment and he seems to have made some terrible choices.

We didn't lose out on Andre if we pulled out.. we made a decision as a club to not be held ransom by Fluminese and got berge instead

Difficult to know whether this is tongue in cheek, if not I'd suggest finding another club if you think he's a poor Fulham manager.

Sorry - a downgrade in EVERY position was incorrect wording from me. I just meant I don't see Willian, palhinha or mitro being replaced or upgraded. As you rightly point out defence is much improved which is great however I don't see ESR as a Willian replacement I'm quite sure he'll play centrally

Don't get some of the negativity on this forum. It would have been nice from an 'armchair football manager' perspective to sign one of the young 'wonderkids' like Andre or Ernest and hope that they become world class on the future - but there's no guarantee of that, and the possibility that they wouldn't even cut it at PL level.

We've signed proven players, mostly before TDD, and I for one am really looking forward to a season of watching the three ex-Arsenal lads and Muniz up front. Also really happy that we've kept Andreas as thought his chemistry switching positions etc with Smith-Rowe in the last game was top class.

I find it surprising how often people on this board moan how we never give youth a chance and then you also have people complaining we're light up front, need a proper 9 etc.

Up front we ARE giving youth a chance and Muniz has at least had a (small sample size) track record to at least earn the right to that.

We can always reassess in Jan with the Stansfield money but I'm happy with our CF options given how much quality is stacked behind in Traore/Iwobi/ESR/Nelson/Wilson etc.

Not going to disregard this entirely but time will tell I guess. I have my reservations but I'm not riding the European places wave anymore but I think we'll be competitive enough to finish between 11-14. Hopefully with some uptick in individuals we can go top 10 but it's pretty hard to see. Just not entirely convinced the midfield is quite as strong and not sure where the goals come from unless we do an Arsenal and feed across the team.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I'm not too down about it. Just a bit deflating considering how we finished the window but by all means, not a disaster.

And ugh. Imagine being on a football forum
And complaining about 'armchair suppprters' ffs. If you don't like voices from people who aren't actual managers, I don't get why you'd sign up to a forum.
