It is so unreasonable of him to be prepared to wait until two or three matches into the season for players of his choosing to be signed.
Tell MS that he should choose from those that can be signed in time for the preseason.

Whoever (if anyone) we sign in the coming minutes, it will not be the player of his (or anyone's) choosing. It will be the dregs of the market that was left available after all else failed.

was reportedly wanted by 4 prem clubs and weve been linked to him early this summer and earlier this week and also in previous windows so nonsense that its not someone marco would have sanctioned either. Ya being reactionary here.

No it isn't remarkable. We signed McCormack for 12m nearly a decade ago, knowing he had no potential upside. He was a Championship goalscorer and he did a job for us.

Factor in massive inflation since then, plus the fact this is a young lad who could be much better than that.

Chiesa is a silly comparison because there's obviously something else going on there. Unless people genuinely think they're comparable players.

I don't understand what McCormack has to do with anything. We're not now in the Championship and McCormack never went on to play in the P.L. after signing for us. Villa later paid us what we laid out for him and he never justified the fee. Flopped. I don't think citing McCormack says anything relevant about the Stansfield deal.

Sorry mate but you really don't know that at all. You don't know who Marco s preference was. Reports are that the club switched to Nelson who clearly seemed to be on our list from reports. Plenty on here that quite like the idea of Nelson. Both the Lyon lads certainly looked exciting but both incredibly raw, one with multiple reports of attitude problems and neither had proved it in any way at the highest level. Lyon fans seem to think both are pretty rubbish. One defo didn't want to come and the other either didn't or we sacked him off last minute. Either could have been complete flops and no guarantee any better than Nelson.

Nelson just hasn't played much (with ridiculous players in front of him) so hard to tell but 4 goals and 2 assists in 14 games of actual playing time in the prem is very promising.

In 7 games of playing time in the German prem he got 7 goals and 1 assist. Excellent.

In Holland 2 goals and 4 assists in 10 games of playing time. Not bad.

Arsenal fans from bits I have read seem to think he's a good player. Let's not write him off before he's even played for us.

We got Palhinha for less than what we got for Stansfield. Same with most current players apart from a few, and even those players aren't that far ahead, particularly Bassey and Iwobi. Of it turns out he's as good as some Fulham fans seemingly think he'll be, we'll get 30+ million in the end, because of a large 20% sell-on fee. If he turns to be worse than anyone can imagine, we'd still get 15-20 million. Really can't see how this isn't an incredible deal.

It just shows that some deals cannot be done until the last minute
MS accepts this and is prepared to wait for a player of his choosing to be signed rather than pick from those that are on offer.

Tons of clubs all over Europe in the same situation, many of which have been deals clubs have been trying to do all summer and in key positions (like utds new DM)

Sometimes thats how it goes.

We managed to strike a deal for a winger with plenty potential which I think some people are massively underating and hoe he proves it here.

Everton, Ipswich and plenty others clearly failed on multiple fronts  That's the game

On we go, I am disappointed we seemingly are sticking with Vini or another youth player as 3rd choice striker till at least January but Jay was 3rd choice at this point and  getting minutes outside of up front so far in pre season and cup, so thats way too much to turn down... hopefully between our forwards and attacking players boosted by ESR and Reiss we can attack better as a unit then add whatever we need in Jan or next summer

If push comes to shove, maybe Diop can be converted. He would not be the first centre back to move forward.

I am sure that is right. It's perfectly possible to be disappointed that one of our own has left, but at the same time to recognize that it was a great deal financially.

Of course. I'll miss him too. He seems like a genuinely nice and humble guy and was seemingly liked by everyone in and around the club. He also has a lot of potential. But if we're going to push up the table this is the kind of deal that has to be made.

Prefer Reiss who wants to play football and has Premier League experience to foreign prospects who actually don't want to join the club.

Stansfield a good bit of business, wants to play regular football and not be a bench warmer which he would have been for us.

In one of his interviews MS did make a subtle hint that Stansfield could go so not over surprised to see it happen.  Onwards and upwards.

Fulham have signed Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson on a season-long loan.

The 24-year-old - a former England Under-21 international - had been in talks with Ipswich before the Cottagers made their move on deadline day.

Nelson came through the Arsenal youth system and has made 90 first-team appearances.

He has also had loan spells at Feyenoord and Hoffenheim.

Nelson has played two minutes of Arsenal's Premier League season so far, having made 24 appearances during 2023-24.

Only two of those appearances were starts in the league or Champions League.
