Not unhappy with that at all! Nelson seems a solid low-risk signing, and our front line is stronger now than it was this time last year. Back four too. Only slight dip is midfield but Palhinha was a bit of a one-off

Sad to see Stansfield go but that fee is just mad really. Love the kid - but frankly, I don't think we're going to see him back in the Premier League. Hope he proves me wrong

Birmingham think he will be worth 2 or 3 times that in a few seasons.

If they sell him for two times what we got for him (and assuming the add-ons are achieved) we'd get 28 million in total for him while Sunderland would get  32 million, so their profit would be just 4 million and ours 28. And I'm not even sure he'll reach a 40 million transfer ever. He might go for even more, but he might end up going for 5-10 million if he ends up not fulfilling his potential.

If we got a deal worth potentially £20m with a 20% sell on fee then it was worth selling Jay, as much as I wanted him to stay. £10-12m made absolutely no sense so if this package is true then okay.

Nelson is a good player seen him play a couple of times, he will surprise a few people on this forum.

We've also now got a big budget for Jan if we need to spend it, and even if Jay goes somewhere for a huge sure one day, we get a decent pay off for that too. If we can get those sort of sums regularly for academy players then it's a huge thing for a club of our size, that sort of money gives us in the region of £30m to spend in Jan before SK puts any money in

The thing I'm most fuming about is that it's a loan. Lose one of our own promising young talents just to develop someone else's. Underwhelming. Rest of the window was good though. Today pretty disappointing.

Is Nelson a loan to permanent option. I'm surprised we didn't buy him knowing Marco doesn't like loans! Plus if he hits the ground running he won't be able to play v Arsenal which will be a bit annoying.

The answer is simple, it's Everton. They've been making terrible transfers for years and obviously got in huge financial issues because of it too. Nothing can surprise me with them anymore.

I think the Ipswich medical included a 'reversing a Tractor onto a trailer' test... which he failed... They will be a bit peeved tomorrow 👍👍

Reiss Nelson on loan... couldn't be any more underwhelming

This was an important signing, not just an optional afterthought

We look like mugs, an otherwise semi-respectable window undermined by the usual wheeler dealing and penny pinching and lack of consideration that we actually need to field a football team for the next 9 months

I hope that you bring this up with MS when you meet him next
It is so unreasonable of him to be prepared to wait until two or three matches into the season for players of his choosing to be signed.
Tell MS that he should choose from those that can be signed in time for the preseason.

Indeed Just look around at how busy this last week and day was

Tons of clubs all over Europe in the same situation, many of which have been deals clubs have been trying to do all summer and in key positions (like utds new DM)

Sometimes thats how it goes.

We managed to strike a deal for a winger with plenty potential which I think some people are massively underating and hoe he proves it here.

Everton, Ipswich and plenty others clearly failed on multiple fronts  That's the game

On we go, I am disappointed we seemingly are sticking with Vini or another youth player as 3rd choice striker till at least January but Jay was 3rd choice at this point and  getting minutes outside of up front so far in pre season and cup, so thats way too much to turn down... hopefully between our forwards and attacking players boosted by ESR and Reiss we can attack better as a unit then add whatever we need in Jan or next summer
