Don't think they were too pleased with us over that so imagine that will make negotiating a viable price harder than other clubs who didn't try to dick them over.

If their sensitivity is bruised by the experience I suspect they would be able to assuage the pain in the time honoured fashion by rubbing money on it.

I might be misremembering here, but I'm almost certain the owner was complimentary towards us, but was hugely critical of how it transpired with Levy and Spurs in the end? We had a gentlemen's agreement in place where we didn't abuse the UEFA ruling (get him for basically peanuts), but that changed when Solomon and his agent opted to go to Spurs?

Looking at articles from the time, I can't see anything than them threatening to sue both FIFA, then Spurs. They did say we withdrew on our agreement once the new rule was put in but doesn't show disdain for us personally so perhaps this isn't the case?

Rambler

Cynically I bet we lose Kevin under our noses to Tottenham, or in this window perhaps Everton who will just stump up the cash and be done with it whilst we quibble about 3mil via add ons.

Seems to happen most windows

Ultimately they did a deal, so it got done and the relationship ended on a good note. In addition to that it put Manor in the shop window and got them a bigger deal with Spurs, where Solomon has failed to impress and has ended up at Leeds in the Championship, which kinda feels like his natural level.

I don't see why they'd have any issues, fundamentally it all went ahead regardless of it dragging out. In hindsight we should've put all our effort into Kluivert instead, who's gone from strength to strength with Bournemouth, but that's life.

It didn't pan out quite like this. We didn't do a deal as such but exploited a FIFA rule that said players could break their contract due to the war in Ukraine. Spurs did the same thing, and they ended up losing the player for free with neither club paying.

I don't think that's quite right General. Spurs got him on a free. he was on his last year of his contract when he came to us on loan, and we'd agreed a fee around the fact of the FIFA ruling that meant players in war-torn countries could leave on loan without all the normal procedures for player welfare (thats a really loose explanation). So we loaned on but with an agreement in place that we would pay them at the end of Manor's contract in good faith. Would we of I don't know, but what transpired was, we didn't sign him, he and his agent went to Spurs with a nice sign on fee as a free agent and Shaktar were out of pocket. I do think it wasn't our fault though which is why all the anger is directed at both the rules maker, and subsequently Spurs.

Think we had a deal agreed for something like £6m (which was below market value anyway) but then were advised by his agent that if we take him in loan we could pick him up for free later, so their chairman wasn't over the moon that we went back on the original agreement.

That was then overshadowed by Spuds doing what his agent had advised us to do, so they were more annoyed as Spuds. Anyway, they ended up losing out on any fee because we pulled out of what had been agreed.

I think it could be a factor if someone matches our offer but end of the day they aren't going to care too much you would have thought if our offer is the highest. Not sure what Napoli bid but that article suggested Napoli's offer was 'disrespectful' so sounds like we are already a lot higher.

Pure conjecture but perhaps we asked them what they were looking for and then actually met that (perhaps our top target) but tried to get funky with add ons if this reporter is correct. Although we try and penny pinch most deals end of the day for the big ones last year for Andersen and ESR we negotiated a bit but did pretty much pay the asking price I believe? Perhaps this one is actually viable if they really do only want 40m euros.

🙏

Just hope if we do get him he is not another Shaktar Solomon or Mudryk and more a prime Willian! He does look pretty exceptional on the stats and clips. Would be so exciting if we can pull it off somehow.

There's quite literally a tweet linked on the previous page that says they want €40m total, just want more up front rather than in add ons from our original offer

90% of the ads on this site are obvious scams/clickbait about female celebrities' supposedly revealing pictures, or some miracle weight loss cure. Surely there are more reputable ads we can host?

Cheer up mate...it might never happen.

Oh wait...that's what you mean!

 :slap:

Not sure where you got 55 from but one reporter said 40. You can't believe any of them anyway so who knows.  ::thumb::
